We came here last summer because my daughter needed her hair cut for the summer and they had walk in available. Stephanie took my daughter and washed her hair and they stripped the chlorine and put a conditioner treatment in her hair because of the damage from the pool. My daughter is 9 and she loooooved it. Stephanie did such a fantastic job with everything, the cut was awesome! just what my daughter wanted, she was so happy. I just made her another appt. for 2 weeks and Beata was super friendly on the phone and she is a hoot when you meet her! Very great group of girls. This is my daughters new haircut place, even if it means traveling from Gurnee to the good ol’ MG!

I found it accidentally while on my way to buy dog food(pet supplies plus is across the street). The sign in the window said $ 13 cuts, $ 10 for first-time customers. Nice price, they were able to take me right away, people seemed nice. She seemed almost lost when I mentioned I wanted something without chemicals(mouse, gel, etc.), but she had some good suggestions for styling ideas. When time to pay, it was a different woman at the front, and she said«$ 13». When I reminded her of the first-timer price, she replied, «Oh, you want to do that? OK.» Results? I’d say I got a $ 10 haircut. I’ll probably buzz it down a little more on the sides later, but my main project was the top, and with what she had to work with, I think she did alright.

This place is our«family hair cut» place. We love it there. The beauticians do an excellent job with cutting hair and the price is right! My husband gets his hair cut here, my little daughter gets her hair cut here, and I also go here for my hair and eyebrows. I recommend getting partial highlights, eyebrow waxing, and a haircut/wash — it will run you about $ 125 for all three services together. That is a great price! The parking can be a little tough during crowded times of day. Love that they have toys for the kids to play with which they wait. I love the stylists. They are fun and nice and make me want to come back. Trust your stylist — they know what they’re doing.

Decided to try Zoots since my hairdresser moved out of state and I was long overdue for a trim. I asked for 2 inches be cut off and some layers be put in. I have long straight hair so I didn’t think this would be anything but a simple request. My stylist was Jackie, at first she didn’t seem too happy about having a client and the shampoo process was nothing to get excited about. Maybe I was just spoiled by my previous stylist with relaxing scalp massages! My request for 2 inches turned into 4. The right side of my hair is longer than the left and the layers are completely different lengths on both sides. I’m left with shorter hair than I wanted and a terribly uneven mousy cut. Oh did I mention I had to stand to have the initial trim done and then sat for the layer cut and blow dry! Overall atmosphere was nice and salon does offer great products.

BEWARE! After months of stressing over what happened to me I have decided to right this because now that my hair is growing back I can talk about it. I went in to color my hair and the girl suggested something called smooth operator seeing I have curly hair and she said it would make my hair more manageable, so I was excited to try this thinking it was a conditioner of some kind that would help with the frizzzz. Never did she tell me it was a hair relaxer! I over heard the manager tell her to start timing from when she started applying which she ignored and left it on to long, it was apparent that it was her first time doing this, she applied right to the scalp and fried it!!! my hair has been breaking ever since, it was so scary to see so much hair in my sink(took pictures by the way), I called and talked to theowner/manager and all she had were excuses she was more concerned with her days off coming up. well after a couple days I didn’t feel comfortable going back, I didn’t want to hear more excuses!!! so I have been dealing with it trying not to wash my hair very often that was what I was advised by a reputable salon owner! this place was more concerned with jacking up the price off my bill I was charged $ 20 to blow dry my hair(not a nice blow out mind you just blow dry) it was 30 degrees outside walked with my hair all frizzed out, this was the time before I had the relaxer done, I should of known they didn’t know what they were doing!!! in 2 months I dropped $ 380 at this place and the owner didn’t even have the common courtesy to call me to see what happened or how we could fix this when I didn’t come in. now I look like a chia pet but so thankful that my hair is growing back!!! It took a lot of soul searching to write this because I don’t like trashing. businesses specially now that we are all hurting but people really need to be aware and proactive for themselves, so i hope this helps someone, now I make sure to check review :)

I’ve been coming to Zoot for years for highlights and cuts and I don’t ever remember not being happy with the outcome. I love that their prices aren’t outrageous like some other salons I’ve tried. The stylists I prefer are Stephanie & Mariam(Mariam does an awesome job of threading eyebrows!)

Zootcuts is a wonderful place to get your hair cut, dyed or whatever else you want. They are personal and always know what to do with my hair(especially since I don’t know anything about hairstyles) to make it look great. There is never a long wait and the prices are fairly cheap.

I’ve driven past Zootcuts many a-times, but didn’t go for a cut until earlier this month. The salon itself is bright clean, but didn’t seem as sophisticated as some of the other salons I’ve been to. I was kind of disappointed with my service here. First, the shampoo water was cold-eek! In the past, stylist have ALWAYS tested the water before drenching me. The cut was nothing spectacular, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything to brag about. What really disappointed me was the style I got after the cut. It was poofy and unflattering, more suitable for a housewife in her 50’s than for a young woman. I immediately washed it out when I got home. I paid $ 35 overall(what happened to the $ 12 haircut advertised on the front window???), which I felt was overpriced for the service. Call up Agatha at Magic Scissor’s instead, which is what I should’ve done and would’ve saved me the tears.

Thought I would try this place based on the previous review and was not disappointed. They were able to take me right away and my stylist(Sarah I think) was just the right amount of chatty without being annoying. She did a bit of a ‘soft sell’ on some of the products, but there was no pressure and I politely declined. The cut I received is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I don’t recall the price, but it is low. I didn’t receive a blow dry(at my request) because it was a hot day and I was just heading home. I was quite impressed with the female customer in the chair next to me. She was a definite regular and was getting a very short trendy haircut. It looked great. This customer looked like she could pay top dollar at any salon, but yet, here she was. They cut her son’s hair next, he appeared to be about 8 years old. All in all a good experience. I will be back in 4 – 6 weeks. :)
