My boyfriend and I went to this store a couple minutes before closing so I know that the employees try to rush customers out of the store, however, this night the employees were just plain rude. As customers, we were planning to buy the things we needed, but because the store is so big, we had trouble finding everything we needed in the short amount of time we had. Once we found what we were looking for after some help, it was around 9 pm, which is their closing time. Now, I can understand that the employees would like to go home, but the way the manager asked us to leave was not very pleasant. We were rushing to get the last couple items we needed before the manager came up to us and said that the store was closed in a very rude tone and pretty much was telling us to either buy the stuff we had or to leave. As soon as she gave us this terrible attitude, we quickly put everything back and left. As we left the store, the manager looked at us and was just shaking her head. I completely understand that it was past their closing time and that we should have looked ahead of time for when they were going to close, but the manager had no right to give such a nasty attitude, no matter how much she wanted to leave. Also, we were the customers, so she should have allows us to get a minute to get the rest of what we needed to make the final sale of the night. We would have left no later than 9:05 if she just left us gather the rest of our things. This experience will not make me never go back to this store, but the manager who was working this night should learn how to give good customer service.

I have successfully shopped at this location on many occasions, but today I had a less than stellar experience. In general I can understand if employees don’t necessarily know all the answers about each and every product in the store. And I can adapt when faced with someone clearly lacking in customer service skills. But what I can’t handle is a full on attitude from an employee who has neither the product knowledge OR any desire to help the customer. I simply cannot understand why someone would think it’s appropriate to make snide remarks behind my back even as I had someone else showing me the exact thing I was looking for! Especially when it was right in front of her the whole time. I will say that the manager listened to my complaints and apologized immediately. I was given amazing customer service at the checkout counter. This will not be my last time shopping here. I certainly won’t allow the attitude of one incompetent employee prevent me from going there again. Great store, but perhaps they should be more critical in their hiring practices.

The fabric selection at Jo-Ann’s is lacking to say the least but I felt compelled to leave a review for two reasons: 1) The Mount Laurel location is a superstore and therefore an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer – to anyone that doesn’t know, Husqvarnas and Berninas are the wet dreams of sewing machines. Husqvarna, in particular, was a military arsenal founded in 1689 to produce muskets for the Swedish Army and is a leader in mechanical engineering to this day. I was able to snag a $ 900 machine for $ 549 on sale because 2010 models will be on shelves soon. And I was given a tutorial on my machine with a really sweet, knowledgeable seamstress. Whenever I’ve called with a question or need supplies, they look up my information to ensure the information they’re providing me with is accurate and that anything I buy will be compatible with my machine. 2) Jo-Ann superstores have the square footage to stock a much broader range of merchandise and this location in particular has done an excellent job of responding to consumer demand for natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly materials and tools: Silk, alpaca, bamboo, and organic cotton yarns; bamboo knitting needles; and even bamboo batting for pillows and quilts. If JA’s only carried some nice textiles(considering they’re a fabric store and all), this would have been a fiver.
