Love this place! Their hush puppies are fantastic and all their food is delicious! Definitely coming back! It’s really worth it!

Came for drinks. Great place. Good atmosphere and view. Only getting three stars for the rude bartender.

Normally I try to go a little in depth but when«I got thrown out for trying to clean off a table» is an accurate statement it’s about all you need to put down. Good lord. I’d say congratulations on making me never want to come back, but since I didn’t want to be there to begin with not much was lost.

Come here every time I’m in town. Fresh food, good drinks. Don’t expect a fine dining experience here, it’s a locals hang out place. It’s old, a little dirty but the food and service makes up for it.

First time going to Shem Creek and despite its reviews that I read it had a good location and a friend recommended it so we went regardless. The scenery at the icehouse was nice, the Decour was average. Our table had food, dirt and grime in the cracks of the wood. Sure, I can work around it. The staff was nice, but only when you can find them. Didn’t come around too much on a Sunday afternoon. We decided to get some mixed drinks which were good, but very pricey for what you got. Both of our mixed drinks were seven dollars apiece and they couldn’t of been more than a 10 ounce drink. Both of my drinks were $ 14 with a $ 2.25 tax… as I was confused on a 15+ percent tax just on the drinks the manager explained about how that works. No biggie on tax, but 15.5% on alcohol? Crazy So we got some crab dip for an appetizer and, it was a generous portion with plenty of tortilla chips. But like our entrées that came out a little bit lukewarm. I felt like if it would’ve been brought out right away it would’ve been so much better. I got the lobster roll and my girlfriend got the crabcake sandwich. Lobster roll was advertised to come out on a roll, which it came out on a soggy piece of Texas toast that split down the middle as soon as I grabbed it. So now my sandwich is a salad. The crabcake sandwich was bland and also came out lukewarm. I had fries which were soggy and she ordered chips but also got soggy fries. Not the worst place I’ve been to but I definitely would not recommend this to a friend, maybe to someone who I didn’t like though.

Ok this bar is a staple of shem creek. Serviice is usually great. Bartenders are great and very friendly. I have always made friends with them easily. I always order fried shrimp, with buffalo sauce. Can’t beat it. The gf recommends the grilled shrimp skewers or grilled cheese. Both are great!

We decided to go to Red’s when we had some family in town. The food very good. Actually the grouper sandwich was very impressive. I do not recommend the lobster roll. It looks nothing like the picture and was mainly celery. The service was good in the ambiance is always fun sitting on Shem Creek. It’s a great place to take out of towners.

Really like this place. Awesome casual hang out spot. Perfect deck party. Yummy appetizers. Visited for Rockers for Knockers. I’m excited to come back when it’s a bit less congested and warmer(it was a cold weekend).

This is a pretty nice spot because of the location but makes it hard to get a seat outside. We grabbed drinks at the outdoor bar while we waited for a table to be ready and it was honestly hard to do that also. They did have live music outside which was cool. I didn’t think the food was amazing but I feel like people more come for the experience.

The only two things Red’s Ice House has going for it are 1) Location 2) The mixed drinks best enjoyed during the summer months while looking at the dolphins swimming in Shem Creek. Other than that, turn around and use your doll hairs somewhere else. I live in the philosophy if you’re going to eat out, let it be something where the flavor stand out to you. This doesn’t meet that requirement. Sure you can eat peel and eat shrimp here, a low country boil and some crab legs, but there are better places in Charleston for that. Also, if you think you’re going to be able to enjoy the«All you can eat Crab Legs» on Mondays, think again, they’ll come up with some lame excuse as to why they suddenly can’t after you’ve waited 30 minutes for the waitress to come by your table and take your order.

I like this place! As expected on a Saturday night it was packed to capacity. Great rustic atmosphere. The live band was on point. I had fried green tomatoes & shrimp tacos The shrimp was grilled to perfection. My margarita was humongous although a tad weak. The wait time for the food was super. Although it was practically a madhouse the waiter was very courteous and efficient. Yeah, I left pretty happy!

Great views of the waterfront from the rooftop bar. Food is a bit like bar food. Lots of fried foods. Surprised by the lack of fresh fish for a seafood restaurant. Service was really good. Prompt. Nice. Happy hour had $ 4 mixed drinks

Red’s serves average bar food and has lots of tourists. They also have live music and about 99% of the restaurant is outdoor patio space right there on Shem Creek. We went at 10:00 for dinner after Tavern and Table’s kitchen was closed(that place is becoming my frenemy after three failed attempts to eat there now). Red’s Kitchen was open late thankfully. It also serves a whole lot of bar food. I had the seafood queso. It’s basically a chopped up shrimp or two in traditional creamy white queso. My gentleman caller had the crab cake sandwich and enjoyed it enough. Neither of us were blown away by the food, but the bartender was awesome. I should mention the atmosphere is also an all-around good time. Fun live cover band, huge crowd having a great time, and an unbeatable view had it been light out. I will absolutely go back for happy hour and I will absolutely eat here if I happen to get hungry while happy hour-ing. I probably won’t purposefully go here to eat when there are so many other great dining options in the area. But hey, live music and ice cold beer are always a winning combo in my book.

I had high expectations for my last trip to Red’s, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. A large group of us went to Red’s after stand up paddle boarding on Shem Creek for a friend’s birthday. Red’s was convenient and it is one of the less expensive places to eat on Shem Creek. My other experience with Red’s was for drinks(which was a good experience), so I was excited for lunch. We placed our orders, had some drinks and apps, and waited. Then, we waited some more. After a while, one friend inquired about our food and our waitress said all the orders were put in at once and there was nothing she could do(of course they’re all placed at once– it’s a restaurant). We noticed other tables place orders, eat, and get their checks while we waited. I had the Asian Shrimp Salad, which wasn’t well described on the menu. The salad is really shrimp and oranges on top of cole slaw, but without the typical cole slaw dressing. I didn’t care for the salad at all and would not order it again or recommend it. The portion was fine, but it was pretty tasteless. My friend’s oyster po boy was mostly bread with little filling and few oysters. The hushpuppies weren’t bad, as we had two orders while waiting. When our checks came out, everyone handed over their cards or cash. The server came back with them and handed them all to one member of our party to disburse for us to sign and leave a tip, instead of distributing them to each of us. There was no apology for our wait time, which would have been nice. I don’t have any plans to visit Red’s again, which is really a shame because it’s a great location with a nice view. After this lunch, I’m not even sure I want to come back for drinks.

If I were to rate Red’s just on food it might be 3 stars. However the fact that it’s right on Shem Creek and you can eat and have a drink watching the kayaks, boats and dolphins just demands another star. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and it was very delicious. I also thought prices were great.

Wow What a place. Great Music, 4 star food, and 5 star guests. This is not a place you come to for a quiet date. This is a great place to turn a meal into an all night good time. Staff are friendly, and the people who eat here are fun loving, live music on the decks that over looks the water. Our Server Sarah kept the food and drinks coming all evening. My group consisted of 18 Large and Loud men. We fit right in. I would highly recommend this place to seafood lovers and people who don’t eat sea food but know a good burger.

The best part about this place is definitely the view. It’s located on Shem Creek and next to several restaurants. If you hang around enough you’ll see dolphins. I ordered the«kickin shrimp» which was spicy but not well-seasoned…there’s a difference. The bacon wrapped scallops were really good. I’m not in a rush to return but it was decent.

Solid bar. Stop by here a lot when I am down in Charleston. Buckets of beer are cheap and the view can’t be beat, especially if you are hanging out up top. I’ve seen dolphins a few times while sitting at the railing. The food is okay, but I rarely ever come down here for lunch or dinner so I’m not going to comment on that. They have a few of the local Charleston craft beers. Just ask for the special beer menu and you can try them yourself.

Ideally I would rate this place a 3.5. We came by on a weekend night and were told the wait for a dinner table would be an hour and a half. After some 10 minutes we went back to the hostess stand and said we were going elsewhere unless the wait somehow was substantially less. She informed us that there were only 4 parties in front of us, so we waited and were called in the next 5 minutes. They have a lot of room for improvement for judging the wait times. I see what happened to us as pure laziness on the hostesses part. The wait staff were friendly and attentive and the margarita pitcher we ordered was pretty good. I had my first Low Country Boil and was pleasantly surprised! A good amount of food for the price and rich flavor. My company’s food, though, was not worth the price. One friend got the fish tacos– and there were 2 for the same price as my large plate of low country boil. The salads were normal dinner salads and good to eat. My other friend had a fish sandwich which she enjoyed. overall decent place to eat seafood for not too expensive. A great location right on the river(there are dolphins hanging around too!). I would say it’s a nice family atmosphere as long as you don’t mind the loudness of a busy restaurant and having a few bars close by, within the premises.

Red’s is one of the restaurants I always stop by when I’m back home in Mt. Pleasant. I’ve never expected pomp and circumstance when I go there – it’s an ice house, for Pete’s sake. But I do always get good service, good food, and good drinks. The prices make me miss home when I think of what I pay for seafood in Atlanta. I can get my entire life for under $ 25 at Red’s. I usually go for the oyster basket and add scallops, for the low-low($ 7 for six oysters and a side + $ 6 for ¼ lb. of scallops) And these amazing 32 oz. cocktails served in buckets for like $ 8. Buckets of fun, indeed. Oh, and the Po Boys are pretty good too – both with shrimp or oysters. The views are nice as well. Imagine sipping your cocktail-in-a-bucket while dolphins are chilling nearby. What’s not to love about that?! I’m already planning my next trip home. Mom, get my old room ready for me!
