Terrible service. So bad we never actually got any service. If the food is anything like the service I’m sure it’s just as bad.

The view. If you’re down stairs, fantastic, upstairs, well you see tops of umbrellas. Shem Creek is a Gem. To bad a large elephant is being built there, called a parking garage. So for now, parking sucks. Ok, food is pricey, customer service is par for this type of setup. You think it’s a fancy place, but it could be a sister to REDS next door. Nothing to write home about. Had their Asian salad, poor at best. Seems to be pre-made living in the frig, taken out when need. Very very dry. Did not order after that. Will I to back, no need too. Frank G

Went back last Sunday evening. This is such a nice location with the best view in Mount Pleasant. The menu is still not very attractive… i had the shrimps covered with spices… and the chicken lettuce wrap. Both were just ok(chicken too dry, too much spices on shrimps) I would not reorder them. This place is busy because of their location, not their menu/food. Staff was nice. We will probably return just to enjoy a drink on their patio…

This was our 2nd trip here. We actually planned our trip from Columbia to specifically come to Tavern & Table(we enjoyed it so much last year — 5 star experience). Last year we arrived on a Friday or Saturday night without reservations(not a good idea — duh) and had to wait 30 or 40 minutes. We finally got squeezed in to a table near the bar. Service was great, we loved each and every dish we ordered — ESPECIALLYTHE seasonal menu item SHRIMPTOAST(my son included) and couldn’t wait to come back!!! We left Columbia around 9am and arrived at Tavern & Table at 11:08am! Perfect! We were seated immediately(we chose to sit inside because it was already so freakin hot out) at a table right by the windows so we could see all the activity going on in Shem Creek. I even saw a dorsal fin(porpoise or dolphin?)! This time we ordered: Chicken Wings — huge, and spicy and messy but really good! Burnt Ends Mac & Cheese — boring and bland, IMO the cheesy sauce lacked flavor and maybe that was intentional since the brisket was supposed to be the star? Bacon Jam & Pimento Cheese — not life changing… The jar it was in was kind of grubby, the spoon provided with it was dirty(I used my knife to scoop the spreads out and on maybe the 4th or 5th scoop a strand of hair was attached… BARF)!!! :(Fortunately it was at the end of our meal that this happened but that’s never a good way to end it. My friend took the hair and cleaned the cheese off and swears it wasn’t hair and just threw it down. Roasted Brussels — we had these the first visit and they were just as good, if not better! Dynamite Shrimp — large fresh and crispy, wasn’t a fav, but wasn’t the worst. Deviled Eggs — good Kids Pasta with Butter and Hand Cut Chips — my son really enjoyed it, but also found a shorter light hair on one of his noodles at the end(all of us have dark hair). Our server Jessie was great. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. We just probably will never return.

Beautiful setting right on the water. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Drink prices are reasonable– Bud Lights for $ 3.50 and good wine for $ 7 a glass. The French dip burger was cooked well. Fries were okay and could be improved. The pretzel appetizer served with cheese fondue is made in a skillet– it’s a must try! Would definitely return again. Their 3.5 rating does not do their food justice.

Really three and a half stars– We stopped in for a quick Memorial Day lunch before our trip home– we were seated promptly, and our waitress was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Food and drinks came out in a timely fashion. We shared the pimento cheese and bacon jam appetizer– loved it! Would definitely order again. I had the pulled chicken salad, which was a special. The dressing was pretty garlicky, but the combination with chicken, pears, strawberries. Blue cheese, and spiced pecans was tasty– but note to self, you’ve basically been making this exact salad at home for the past 2 weeks of brown bag work lunches. DH had a Bbq chicken flatbread and he was underwhelmed… it wasn’t bad, but I doubt he would choose if given a 2nd chance. Overall, a decent restaurant, but kind of missing something. I’d eat here again, but I’d rather try something different. (I should update this to say– I am reserving 5 star reviews to restaurants that really knock it out of the park– a 4 star for places I’d eat weekly or more if I could, and a 3 star for restaurants that are good but not my favorite.)

This place is great. I love the outside bar. We have been here several times and it has become one of our go to places. We especially love Neal our bartender he is awesome and one of the reasons beside the great food we frequent this place. Actually all the bar staff rock here. We have had most everything on the menu and it is all good. This place is the best place on Shem Creek hands down! They have a diverse menu from dumplings to pretzel bites to burgers all are good! Besides the great food here the surroundings are stellar. Don’t pass up on this hidden jewel here in Mt P!

Exceptional setting and very creative food. The outdoor space includes a bar and lounge area plus table dining. We ordered pretzels with fondue, charred edamame, boiled shrimp, mushroom bisque, fig flatbread… This was a great collection for the table to share. The food was wonderful! The décor of the restaurant is upscale with a fresh design palette.

What a hip happening place. The décor has a beachy modern vibe, rustic in nature. It’s a nice spot. We sat near the bar area & it was busy but not crowded. Too cold to go out on the patio but I believe it’s a great spot to experience Shem Creek’s views & sunsets. I would definitely take visitors here. The service was great & the food good with a few specials on offer every night. They have a selection of beer wine & cocktails. Now, the parking. Horrible although they do have valet but I did not use it. Construction going on there which makes the available spaces scarce. There are about 30 steps up to the restaurant with no lighting! Fine going in but coming out in the dark. A little daunting especially for elderly or those incapacitated in any way. Other than that, a great spot & definitely a place I would return. Great date night destination.

Excuse me for a moment while I climb onto my soap box. I may sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I’m ninety percent sure a witch doctor put a Unilocal curse on Shem Creek. Take a look for yourself, no restaurant has over 3.5 stars. Is that rating justified for a touristy mediocre seafood joint… absolutely, but Tavern & Table is a cut above on all fronts. If this establishment was located anywhere else in the lowcountry, they would easily be touting a 4.5 star rating or higher! The location and views are breathtaking… you can practically touch the dolphins out back. The remodel and design are gorgeous… thanks to celeb interior designer Taniya Nayak. There’s plenty of parking… and they still offer free valet. Plus, the food and service are top notch. Are the prices a little up there… sure, but isn’t the price of waterfront property in Mount Pleasant? I’ve been here numerous times for an array of reasons. Dinner is still on my to-do list, but I’ve been for lunch a couple times, meetings, appetizers, or a relaxing drink out back. Every bite has been nothing short of mouthwatering and the portions are more than generous… I’m looking at you french dip burger and pimento cheese with bacon jam. It’s time for this curse to go wayward of the Bambino and recognize this spot in all it’s glory. Stop lumping T&T in with their neighbors. It’s obvious that they’re the stand out in the crowd.

Updated review May 1, 2016: Alright, y’all, my husband and I took my in-laws back here tonight and oh yeah, redemption FORSURE and definitely up to 5 stars for T&T. We had the amazing crab dip again, the pork and shrimp dumplings, and my husband decided to give the Double Double another try. It was so juicy this time, and even though it was well done, the meat was some of the best I’ve had. My moment of truth was the Burnt End Mac and Cheese — YES! Amazing! Cheesy, short rib, cornbread goodness. I could not be happier, and our waitress, Madison, was fantastic. (Original review March 2016) After experiencing their Burnt End Mac & Cheese at the Mac Off the last two years and hearing about their fantastic atmosphere, I was really excited to give Tavern & Table a try. Everything started out great — the cornbread, peel and eat shrimp, and crab and artichoke dip — wow! Then for our meals, my husband got one of their ground in-house burgers, the Double Double. We were really disappointed to learn that because that burger is two 4-oz patties that they’re all done medium-well to well done — darn! I shared his burger and also got my favorite Burnt End Mac. It looked the same as when I had it at the Mac Off, but the sauce was runny and not too cheesy. I honestly think they forgot to add the cheese to my batch! To try and redeem the entrees, we ordered the s’mores dessert, which was really good! This was only our first time there, and they got 4 starts for the ambiance and amazing appetizers! My husband and I will be back for brunch soon, and I really hope to up them to 5 stars after that!

We had three for lunch. Atmosphere was beautiful on the creek. Meals were disappointing. Our waitress took our order. Sometime later she came back saying the kitchen lost our ticket. We had to retell our waitress what we had ordered. Meals finally came. One was more disappointing than the others. It was a Turkey Panini with a guacamole that seemed to be out of a can. Not freshly made. This took away from the sandwich. I ordered the Double Double burger, medium and it arrived well done. We’ll try this again in hopes they get better with age.

Beautiful setting overlooking Shem Creek! It just doesn’t get any prettier if you love amazing sunsets like I do! Chad was our server tonight & you will not find a friendlier or knowledgeable server! He’s The Best! Professional in every way! Fire roasted oysters were amazing as were the Brussels sprouts & mushroom flatbread! We will return… From Atlanta!

I really want to like this place: great location, great atmosphere, friendly service. The food wasn’t on par. There were four of us and we ordered three apps and four entrees. Arguably, the best part of our dinner was the server and two of the apps — the cornbread and the roasted Brussel sprouts. Both were fresh, cooked well, and delicious. The Korean fried chicken wings were overcooked and bone dry. It seemed as though they were partially cooked in advance and then cooked again before serving and ended up getting way overcooked. The same was true with the pollo a la brasa — very dry and needed more of the aji amarillo to moisten it up. We had heard good things about the brisket mac and cheese but ours was watery. So overall, not a memorable experience.

This was my first visit to Tavern & Table, and I enjoyed the dinner. The food was delicious, though the prices were a bit too high for what they served. Their prices are in line with those of the top downtown restaurants. I am sure they are paying top dollar to be located on Shem Creek, but I think the dinner prices are too high. I think they could lowered their prices by 10−20% and they would be right on target. I hear that the lunch prices are more reasonable, but still pricy. The charcuterie plate was delicious. I had the mushroom flatbread, and it was just right. It was a large serving and I took some home to go! The food was cooked very well, and the service was excellent.

I have dined at this restaurant twice now. Once with my husband for dinner during restaurant week a few weeks back and most recently with family for lunch. Our first experience was great but not perfect. First and foremost, the restaurant itself is beautiful inside. We love the rustic yet sophisticated charm it has and the patio by the water is hard to beat. As for our dinner experience, the wings were among the best we’ve had and the portion size is impressive, the edamame, while flavorful and spicy were a tad bit too oily for my liking, the cod was delicious and tender and the roasted chicken with duck fat fries was a great dish but it’d be nice if the chicken was broken down more so that you didn’t have to approach it like a neanderthal, unless you like picking your food apart that way. My husband did proclaim that it was worth the dirty work. Our second experience, late lunch time, around 3, was also pretty good. Fyi, they don’t serve dinner items till 4. We sat out on the patio this time which is shaded and heated, the view was great but watch the sunset since it’s quite bright as it sets. For lunch we ordered the fire roasted oysters which were exquisite, the ahi tuna wrap, the burger with duck fat fries, and the shrimp and grits. The burger and shrimp and grits did not get any complaints but the ahi tuna wrap severely lacked salt and flavor which unfortunately left it tasting quite bland overall, especially wrapped in a plain tortilla and with white rice inside which alone are quite flavorless. I would order it again if it were seasoned more aggressively or maybe the tortilla wrap was switched with a more flavorful one. Overall we still really enjoy this place but hope they begin to pay attention to the small little details a bit more.

The food was delicious(although a bit pricey). Service was excellent. Most importantly, GETDESSERT. The décor and atmosphere was quaint and homey. Parking well. good luck, it’s Shem Creek and beside Red’s.

Tavern & Table is located along the beautiful Shem Creek. For an outdoor patio dining experience, Tavern & Table is ideal. This is the place for a great happy hour drink with apps outside. Most likely you will even see some dolphins, depending on the time of year. The meat and cheese plate was a favorite. Inside the restaurant starts to fall apart for me. The interior design is modern meets South Carolina, and sets expectations for a sophisticated dining experience. I have now eaten here twice, and the main entrées are just OK, lack flavor, and are forgettable. The service is incredibly slow and forgetful, and the acoustics are horrible. Overall, come here for a happy hour, outdoor, Shem Creek experience. Take your group somewhere else for dinner after.

I know this place gets mixed reviews, but I am definitely a fan! a+ for atmosphere, quality of food, stellar views, music, menu, price point, and friendly service. Not one dip in total satisfaction the whole evening. After grabbing a glass of wine and chilling on the porch overlooking the water, we meandered inside to dine. Our server was efficient and helpful. She brought us an affordable but very tasty bottle of Albariño, which we enjoyed throughout our meal. We ordered the brussels sprouts, burrata, oysters, deviled eggs, miso cod, and fries. All the food was excellent but the Brussels sprouts, burrata and oysters were beyond outstanding. I’ve had good oysters before but wow: these were something different. These were to die for!!! Granted, they were all rich dishes, but because we split the food, it ended up being a very nice mix of flavorful dishes. Deviled eggs were ok but nothing spectacular or unique. Fries(despite being cooked in duck fat), tasted pretty much like any other fry. The miso cod was also excellent — it was the only entrée we ordered for the table, and it was HUGE! Very generous portion of meat, accompanied with bok choy, and black sticky rice. There were three of us dining and we left food on our plates– just to give you an idea of the portion sizes. Definitely, definitely recommend going here. Best place to dine in Shem Creek by far!!!
