Sol is great. The food is always consistent and the service is terrific. Sol is one of the few places around where you can get dinner in Mt. Pleasant after 9 pm.

One of my favorite restaurants around… My girlfriends came into town tonight and I decided to bring them here. Long story short, one of my friends food did not come until after the rest of us were finished eating. They apologized but when the check came, management(who came over to apologize for the mix up) did not even comp her meal or offer a free drink, dessert, nothing! We paid our bills but on the way out my girlfriend pulled the manager aside and said to one of the other managers«I just wanted you to know that the food was great tonight but my friends finished eating their entire meal before my meal even came to the table». His response was«well at least they got it right the second time». Who says that to a paying customer??? Love this restaurant but the managers need way more training regarding customer satisfaction. Totally unprofessional.

Sol performed much better on this second round. The Guac was wonderful and the salsa verde was fresh tasting and cool. The queso was very thick and creamy. I had two veggie tacos with black beans. The corn tortillas really overwhelmed the tacos and I could have used a better filling to tortilla ratio. You do get two corn tortillas per taco so they don’t tear or fall apart but the filling could have been more substantial. The house margarita was good, but nothing to write home(or Unilocal) about. It was very sour — I probably couldn’t drink more than 2. The service was nice, but I was really distracted by all the female servers in SHORT shorts. I get that at Hooters, but this is a Tex-Mex restaurant. There were no jeans on the female servers or even Capri-length pants. The men all wore jeans but the only woman I saw in pants was kitchen staff. I am hoping the women get the CHOICE to wear jeans or shorts…

Locals told us about this place. In a new«Stockdale» shopping center just off Kings Hwy. The atmosphere is loud and family focused. The outfits the ladies wore were a bit strange(white dresses for the hostess and tablets and short shorts on the waitresses; both in cowboy boots) and exploitive. But the food is good and the service friendly and fast.

So had to adjust my review as it took over 1 hour to get our lunch entrée from the time we ordered it to being on the table. Literally we ordered, then they sat the table next to us and we both got our entrees at the same time. The server didn’t even acknowledge that it took so long. I even inquired if we could get a refill of salsa while we were waiting and was told I would be charged for it. When we did get our food, it was good but not good enough to waste 1.5 hours of my vacation day waiting for lunch and there were not many others there at the time. Also during the wait we were not offered more drinks when ours were empty(tequila or water). Too bad as the place had a lot of potential… original post: This is an unsuspectingly gorgeous place. The staff is super nice/attentive and even the Manager jumps in. Definitely check this place out and sit on the patio if it is a gorgeous day. If I lived closer, I would be here often

This should be 3.5 stars It was a pretty cookie cutter Tex-mex atmosphere and that’s not a bad thing. The app trio of queso, salsa, guacamole was ok for us. We also ordered the pork carnitas tacos and those were very good. A few notes. The tequila pours need to be 2oz.

SOL has a really fun atmosphere, nice out door sitting and a great drink menu. We started out with chips, guac, and queso of course. Chips were good, guac and queso good not amazing but good. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce. I really liked the red sauce but the chicken was diced and there was zucchini in the enchilada. I was not diggin the zucchini and I prefer shredded chicken. Good flavor just not for me. I’m sure I’ll go back for drinks and queso at least. Service was good too.

I love their happy hour and they have my favorite margaritas! We order everything off the happy hour menu and the nachos are the best!

In walking distance from my parents and we have had delicious cocktails and enters. Great classic/house margarita(not too sweet, a little sour = perfect!) and a moscow mule. The appetizer trio(queso, guacamole, and salsa) is the best. Be sure to get the corn and jalapeño salsa. It was recommended by our waiter! The food portions for the entrees are smaller but they are really flavorful and satisfying. I’ve been many times and will definitely recommend.

I’ve dined at Sol countless times– alone sitting at the bar, for a lunch with coworkers, a large family celebration, small group of friends, to watch a sporting event, etc. I like the atmosphere; it’s laid back but upscale, open concept but intimate, and you could fit in dressed casual or fancy. The food is also good– my all time favorites are the Salmon BLT or the chicken quesadilla(actually an appetizer but I get it as my meal). I’ve actually had a huge portion of their menu and have never really been disappointed. My one complaint is that they do not offer free chips and salsa, and several times that I have gotten a salsa or the dip trio I have had to ask for more chips to finish it off and feel like these refills should have been offered readily. They’ve got really good cocktails and a good beer selection. They’ve also got Sol(a Mexican beer) for around $ 3/bottle. Indoor and outdoor seating with table service, there is also an outside lounge area with comfy couches and a good view of a big screen TV. Their bar has a garage door type window that they can open during good weather and there is some additional seating. Overall a great place and even though it sits alone off Hwy 17 N(shares a driveway with a storage facility but there’s currently construction of a new hotel right next door) it’s definitely worth checking out for yourself if you haven’t already.

We came here to see their happy hour menu. We ordered an app with tortilla chips and three, different dipping sauces. It was a good choice. We decided to stay for dinner. All the meals came quickly and presented very well. I’d come here again.

Whenever I write a review about a date, I feel like Carrie Bradshaw. The only difference is that Carrie had Mr. Big and I have a series of unfortunate events that are better known as dates. New Year’s Eve. Lunch. Met date at SOL. First of all, SOL is past the IOP Connector and I for one am guilty of never driving that far north unless heading out of town. It’s a super cute looking building when you pull up. Upon walking in, it was love at first sight. With SOL, not my date. Kidding aside, this was actually a pretty good date and very good restaurant. It’s totally my kind of spot. I have a penchant for Mexican-ish but not really restaurants and SOL is definitely in the vein of Red Drum and Taco Boy. Our server was adorable and super personable. The trio and chips was spot on. Queso and guacamole were both tasty, but the salsa really stood out. It’s super fresh and chunky and has a wonderful kick to it. I had the crab and avocado stack, and although not what I expected, it was fantastic. It’s crab meat and avocado molded together(maybe it’s the recent Bill Cosby scandal but jello came to mind) over a bed of arugula lettuce. It was very flavorful and healthy-ish. I definitely can’t wait to come back and try SOL again for happy hour or dinner mostly because I am dying to try their margarita(and it seemed wildly inappropriate on a first date at lunchtime). Honestly if their margarita is good, I am willing to make this my #1 haunt in Mount P.

This is our second time visiting SOL, and on this trip, we tested the SOL happy hour menu. The drink menu is pretty typical to most happy hours specials. $ 3.50 well drinks. A few bucks off of specialty draft beers and cheap domestics. Where SOL really shines in the Happy Hour arena, is the food menu. We opted for the fried chicken skewers, roast chili’s and the fried avocado fingers. Both the chicken skewers and avacado fingers were very bland to me, although a few people from our table liked the avocado more than the chicken. The real champ of the night came as the roasted chili’s served with smoked rock salt. Honestly, they were SO darn good! FYI, the happy hour menu and drink specials are JUST for the bar area, and they place gets busy on Fridays. We’ll be back because they are so close and the patio is awesome!

Our second time here coming back from myrtle beach. It was just as delicious the second time as it was the first we came. Great food, good service and exquisite desserts!

Somewhere between a 2 and 3 star here… but AOK is not a good description, so went wth Meh. Clone girl waitresses. sort of Hooter’s girls but in less revealing outfits, short-shorts and Western boots. Server seemed indifferent and just going thru the motions. Ho-Hum. Menu was better on paper than it was at the table. Have to take away points for«charging for chips» as I have mentioned in reviews in past, a Mex or Tex-Mex restaurant should adhere to industry standards and offer up the holy chips to the customers complimentary. Spouses Mahi taco was just OK, fish was over cooked and not as tender as it should have been. My pork taco was plentiful but lacked some customary flavors. Salsa and chips(which cost you $ 4) was pretty OK, got to give up a star for the salsa. SaleebScore: Food: 6⁄10; Service: 5⁄10; Atmosphere(if you like rowdy/hot spots than 8⁄10; if you like quiet 2⁄10) Bar was hopping.

Great spot! We’ve been twice and were impressed both times. The first was a late dinner(think: 9:30PM after a movie at Town Centre). We had to order relatively quickly because the kitchen was going to close at 10PM. We were«starved» by then, so we ordered the dip trio and Oh. My. Goodness. Totally worth it. The house salsa was fiery, which my husband loved. I had to temper it with some of the guac, which was perfect. The queso was really the star on the plate though. None of that velveeta-esque cheese dip here: nearly liquid coquita with enough seasoning to be interesting, but mostly just about the cheese. We enjoyed it so much the first time we insisted on getting it on the second time around with friends. For dinner both times, I ordered tacos. The first time, chicken. Second time, steak. Both times, delicious, and I would absolutely order either of them again. My husband had enchiladas both times — I don’t remember the exact varieties, but I do know that he cleaned his plate, so they were definitely good. Our friends that we brought with us the second visit were impressed as well. I can’t speak much to the namesake liquor, as I’m not much of a margarita person, but our friends enjoyed their margaritas, and the other mixed drinks were fun as well. For me, the highlight is the food!

We finally tried Sol Saturday night, and left thinking, the food was good but we really haven’t missed much all this time. We arrived early, right before 6pm. We parked along the road like most people even though there is a big parking lot. The valet said hi as we entered then we were greeted by 3 hostesses. The interior was large and spacious with booths along the walls, and various tables in the middle. We noticed the bar was filled with many people enjoying cool cocktails. There’s a nice outdoor patio just past the bar, which had a large entrance that was open. Service was basically good, the staff is young with most females in denim shorts, a knit top and cowboy boots. It had a slight Hooters meet Coyote Ugly vibe, which wasn’t bad, just not what we are looking for in a restaurant. Must be an age thing! But our server was nice, attentive and engaging enough. All the food and drinks were brought to us by even younger men, which also were friendly also. Now the food was good, we would rate the food 4 star. We started with cocktails, a house Margarita and whiskey smash. Both were pleasant tasting but it is true, the margarita is served in a small glass. You will want another. Menu has a nice selection of various appetizers and entrees, which were more elevated Southwestern. We enjoyed guacamole and chips first, then had to try the tuna lollipops. Just one word for these — Yum! Just as described on the menu with 2 wonderful sauces. We had entrees of Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas and Chimichanga. Wow, both were just spot on with such fresh rich flavors, and we liked them. We ended our meal with dessert, a pecan bar with ice cream and then caramel cheeze cake. Both were sweet, rich in flavor and just delicious. The only real issue we had were flies. Yes, flies. All night during the meal we had to keep swatting away one or 2 nuisant flies. We believe the cause was the wide opening to the patio, lucky for us none landed in our guacamole. We left there full, having enjoyed a nice rich meal from appetizers to dessert. We enjoyed multiple cocktails which fueled our relaxing weekend. But we didn’t leave feeling we HAD to go back. The restaurant started getting busy after we arrived, in fact most tables were full. I guess it’s just more a bar atmosphere they want to promote, which is fine. Overall good food, good service. Try it once.

I was lucky enough to stop into SOL for the first time as a lunch meeting, and met the restaurant owner David in the process. It should definitely be said that this guy cares a LOT about his restaurant and his guests, and it really shows. The restaurant itself is quite gorgeous, with a sort of rustic deep southwestern theme throughout alongside unique, handmade light fixtures, wood booth tables, and even a really well-designed bathroom experience. The service was also excellent, even perfect, though I was dining with the restaurant owner for a portion of my lunch(so perhaps there was some extra attention there). The menu is large and varied, with both traditional Tex-Mex style tacos, burritos, etc but some twists thrown in as well. Examples: cranberry-pear salsa, Mepkin Abbey Mushroom Quesadilla, Red Chile Bison Enchilada. The SOL salsa-queso-guac combo is really awesome. Get it. Then get some tacos or an enchilada or, like me, the Margarita Shrimp Tacos(majorly tangy and a great size). ***There are plenty of gluten-free, pescatarian, vegetarian, and even vegan options here, and the staff encourages you to make any requests you can think of. The owner even shared with me that they have several gluten-free staff members, so you know they care and understand what’s up in that regard. David couldn’t help but brag about SOL’s margarita offerings, so I’ll have to sample a few on my next visit. Read: I’ll definitely be back for the food, too, even though this restaurant is a good 25 minutes from my home downtown. ***This restaurant really impressed me with their Kitchen Karma program. Each month they choose a cocktail and a menu item and give $ 1 from each item ordered to a local charity. I can dig that.

Sol is an upscale Southwestern style restaurant. Don’t come here expecting cookie-cutter«Mexican-esque» and cheap prices. Come to Sol expecting great high end food, which means higher than average prices. Sol is totally worth the extra coin though. I came in with the Hubs and wee one for a late lunch. We split an order of chips and salsa. I had the chicken verde nachos, the Hubs had the tuna burger, the wee one had a kid’s cheeseburger. Every thing was delicious. The chicken verde nacho nearly blew my socks off! It was a huge plate of creamy, crunchy, spicy love. I am totally ordering that again soon. The Hub’s tuna burger didn’t last long enough for me to taste, so I’m guessing it was too yummy to share. He assured me that it was amazing. Our service was a tad slow, but we did come in the middle of a shift change so I can’t fault them really. I almost forgot to mention the house margaritas we ordered. AMAZING. They were not the day-glow syrupy sweet concoctions that most places serve. These were proper cocktails, hand made and expertly mixed, and for $ 6 each they have more than enough tequilla to satisfy anyone. We each ordered a second one just to make sure we liked them. ;-D SOl: my new favorite Mt. P lunch spot.
