Nice enough décor, definitely a step up from usual breakfast café but not fancy. I had Oscar Benedict which was quite good. My husband had sweet potato pancakes which was one large, plate sized pancakes. Cooked slightly crisp on outside and soft and less cooked inside. Prices are a little high for breakfast but menu has a lot of unique items and we wished we had time to try more, but only had a weekend in Birmingham.

This place has a great menu with regular breakfast items as well as interesting takes on old favorites. The waitress was pleasant and quick with our food and our check. The food itself was good but not great… still on the hunt for an amazing breakfast place here in bama.

Usually my go to brunch spot. But my latest service was horrible. Got seated on the patio and watched to other tables arrive and leave before we even got our food. Our waiter gives us the excuse that all the tickets weren’t printing in the kitchen which is the equivalent to «I forgot to put your order in». Instead of admitting to that he sent another waitress out to take the order again. Needless to say, he didn’t show his face again. From here, our food was served quickly but was very subpar. We decided not to finish and asked for the manager. The manager still has not come to our table.

Hmmm good brunch with my Honey Boo! First time and it was not disappointing! Second time eating gluten free pancakes and these are better than the flapjacks I had at another pancake house. Their gluten free syrup is delicious!!! Also the grits are so creamy! I will definitely be back! If I could I would have given them 4.5 stars, but not possible so 4 stars because the waitress kept telling us she be back couple times before we actually placed our order.

I wasn’t in the mood for breakfast so this time around I tried their shrimp and grits — a southern staple. All I can say is maybe it’s good thing we lost the war. Here is how the dish was described«Shrimp and andouille sauté with red peppers and onions in a spicy tabasco low country reduction, served on creamy cheese grits with garlic French bread.» The shrimp were nicely cooked and tasted fresh but it actually took some digging to even find grits on my plate. There was maybe two tablespoons hidden under far too much of the reduction. I liked the heat of the sauce and the flavor profiles, I just wished there had been far less of it. It simply overpowered the supposed hero ingredients. Visually the dish looked like a brown soup rather than shrimp and grits. I’m open to creative interpretations of classic dishes, but this was a real miss for me. The management has kindly offered for me to return and have a meal on the house but I have declined. My first visit and our food was cold before we got silverware to actually eat it and this time the shrimp and grits were missing the grits. Call me picky but I’m giving up on these guys.

Another Broken Egg is interesting because I really wanted to like it but alas, I just wasn’t impressed. Don’t get me wrong, the staff was friendly at 6:30am on a Monday, our food came out pretty quickly and the coffee was delicious. The thing is, while they aren’t doing anything grossly wrong, they aren’t doing anything amazing either. I had the eggs Benedict which was very average sided with some unseasoned fried potatoes. All this to be said, it’s hard to be good living in the shadow of Over Easy. Oh well.

If you don’t mind a wait, then this is a great spot. True southern breakfast with a casual dining spot. It’s very busy on Sunday morning at 10 so plan ahead for at least a 30min wait. Plan to leave stuffed, the portions are huge and worth the price. I got the Hawaiian French toast and ham, and I recommend this hands down! Glad to have stopped by.

Had a nice time for my first time. Good breakfast and didn’t have to wait but 30 seconds as we got a seat at the bar top. Had the Lucy omelette. It was good and the hot sauce they have is on point. Glad they didn’t mess up breakfast it’s one of the easiest things to do. I would be back.

Their breakfast is really good! The beignets on the appetizer menu are incredible, cannot go wrong with sharing this app with friends! I ordered the pancakes with a side of bacon. Again, super tasty — thick slick of bacon with just the right crunch. They open at 7am and we were there soon after so there were a lot of small children, but still the noise wasn’t bad at all and the service was good.

Was excited for brunch, left severely disappointed. We saw not one, but two, cockroaches in the dining area in the hour we were there. Assistant manager apologized for the first one. When she came back for the second, which was crawling on the wall next to my seat, she said, and this is a direct quote«someone is going to freak out.» Nothing was comped for having to report staring at giant gross bugs while eating. Our waiter was less than attentive– never refilled our water and took forever to bring us our bill. Hot sauce bottle he brought us was broken and messy and only came out the side of the cap. Food was good if you can stomach dining with cockroaches.

We have not had good eating experiences at Another Broken Egg and for us the Birmingham location provided yet another example of why not… go somewhere else. Our family of four was half of a party of eight. We ordered Sweet Potato Pancake with turkey sausage & egg combo + Cinnamon Roll French Toast with turkey sausage combo + Veggie Delight Omelet + Hawaiian French Toast. The Pancake was ok, the Cinnamon Roll French Toast was visually beautiful and addictively sweet and our son *loved it*, the omelet and biscuit were average, the Hawaiian French Toast was very good; the bread was outstanding. The breakfast potatoes were good. SO Another Broken Egg Care Birmingham also offered a counterexample of what it has been for us because our friends ordered dishes different from ours: Steak & Eggs(no beef or pork for us) + Biscuits & Gravy(the gravy had sausage) + the Crab Stack(was special) + Fried Green Tomatoes(were sensational). The Cinnamon Roll French Toast, Crab Stack and Fried Green Tomatoes made us come back for breakfast two days later. And they were good. Kudos to Another Broken Egg Café.

This is one of the must visits in the city if you are visiting or if you live here. The wait was extremely long but well worth it. They have complimentary coffee for your wait and menus available to view also. I had the City Grits for the my appetizer which was AMAZING! I could have have that for a meal itself, for my breakfast I had the Lobster and Brie Omelette with the potatoes it was pretty good the Brie was a tad bit overpowering though. The Bellini was great it was very light on the juice and very heavy on the champagne which is always a good thing! Of course I will be back.

Loved this place! The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. We ordered the cheese grits and the powdered biscuits(blanking on the name right now) to begin with and both were tasty! For mains we had the pancakes, the egg and potato, and an omelette. Everyone loved their meals. The home made sausage was a huge hit. The décor was cute and the coffee was good!

Just came in on a whim while in town on MLK day. I got the«Traditional» with their homemade sausage and substituted the«Country Grits» for the«Country Potatoes». Boyfriend had whichever was the Mexican themed«back by popular demand… With a twist» breakfast thing. I really just came here to say that the grits were AMAZING. I have eaten a grit in my day and let me tell you– these were tender, flavorful, and just out of this world. Do yourself a favor– come here and eat these grits.

They have a great menu!!! Everything looks delicious. The bartender who served me brunch was great. My only complaint? I ordered an eggs Benedict Oscar. The eggs were cooked medium-hard…no running yolk whatsoever. The whole point of eggs Benedict is to have runny eggs!!! For a place whose name is about eggs, I was pretty disappointed. But food quality and taste was on point at least.

Had another great experience with this restaurant, first time trying the Birmingham location though! Everything was very flavorful and delicious as usual! We ordered the fried green tomatoes app, shrimp n grits, and Stan’s Mardi Gras omelette with the Mediterranean potatoes! All highly recommended. The customer service was stellar. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The wait was only 15 minutes, so not bad for a Saturday morning! Would def come here again when in the area!

Came here on my birthday. The sweet potato pancake has good flavor with almond pieces inside the pancake. It’s only one layer pancake that do cover the whole plate. My only complaint is there drinking water. They might want to invest in getting a water filter.

Good food, great service, sweet location, oh, and they have take-out! Quality of Service — Never had a problem here. Everyone is always so friendly and even this past weekend when I know they have 4,000 people sitting in their restaurant, the lady on the phone was super nice and made sure I was taken care of. (HINT) If you don’t want to wait 7 hours to get seated on a Sunday, call ahead and pick-up is no more than 20 minutes. It’s been the best thing I have done since I’ve been in Birmingham. Quality of food — Everything tastes fresh. I would hope and expect that coming from Mountain Brook, most of the food should be kept fresh and prepared when ordered. With that being said, I am a huge fan of their homefries. Pretty bomb. Overall — This has become my spot on Sunday mornings. I love waking up, not wanting to cook breakfast, not wanting to wait in lines, not wanting to wait until 7 pm to get seated for breakfast, and calling in and picking up my food in 20 minutes. IFMYMOTHERWEREVISITINGME — Yes, we would come here on a sunday morning and I would be stoked about it.

I love non traditional dishes or traditional ones with a twist so when I saw that this restaurant offers Omelette with lobsta and brie and cinnamon roll French toast, I was sold!!! The restaurant is really quaint and located in a street with boutiques and not too far from the Zoo and Botanical Garden. Since there was a bit of wait, we decided to just eat at the bar. Our waitress was very friendly. Both dishes were good although the French toast was as you can imagine, a bit too sweet. I loved the presentation of the dishes and just the whole experience there. Apparently this is a chain that started in Louisiana where the original«broken egg» is, so hence the name of this restaurant, «Another broken egg»… luv it! Unilocal 100 Challenge! 2015: 9⁄100
