Was in the area for business about two week ago and stopped in here for dinner the first night of our trip. The burgers were great and the fries were delicious. I got one of the specials(pictured below) and it was delicious. Also got the fries with the garlic topping, it was good, but there was a lot of garlic and oil on it. Didn’t bother me to much cause I just scrapped it off, but I could see it being a concern for some. Service was prompt, staff was friendly. Highly recommend.

Closure alert! Buffalo Beers Burgers Baos(full venerable name on the sign of this 2-year-old restaurant) is CLOSING after Sunday(today), to remodel into a clone of the family’s popular newer restaurant, Srasa Kitchen, in another Mountain View neighborhood:
I just had a good-by meal at Buffalo. I will miss this place! It was another of those restaurants(like The Refuge ) that chose to focus on just a few things, and did them very competently. Will especially miss the baos, which though not unique to Buffalo in this neighborhood(Bushido has done good ones with pork belly, and occasional other restaurants do, not to mention the regular dim-sum char-siu versions at Fu Lam Mum) were a focus at Buffalo, and served in interesting variety. FYI, the main alternatives near this location for unusual, creative burgers, each excellent with its particular menu, are: Steins Beer Garden Bierhaus and soon, the new Eureka! location under construction nearby. Scratch also has offered some interesting fancy burgers, though they’re less central to Scratch’s menu than at the other places I named. Tied House and(slightly farther away) Clarke’s Broiler offer more traditional burger menus, still with considerable variety, well made, and at attractive prices. Added: More on Buffalo’s closure and plans:

This place has great burgers. Juicy. Delicious. I love it. I decided to try and be open minded about my opinion. Establish a baseline on Unilocal and explore alternatives. I asked the Unilocal app for cheeseburgers within five miles of Sunnyvale. Unilocal had the overrated Saint Johns and Bierhaus, and any number of Jack in the Box and Five Guys, but no mention of this Unilocal-rated four star joint. And Google had no clue. «Cheeseburger? You mean McDonalds?» So, for the record, for you, Unilocal, keyword this: cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger fries no chips coke and beers no Pepsi. I love this place. Yum! Come here for delicious cheeseburgers!!!

Truly a New American dining experience in the heart of downtown Mountain View. I had the Sloppy Fries which sounded amazing(Coconut-infused niman ranch beef chili topped with fried egg, jalapeños, cilantro, cheddar cheese and drizzled with house special + lemon-citrus aioli) but after a few bites, it became an overwhelming mess and the fries became soggy and oily. I know that’s what the fries would be in nature obviously(hence the name) but good sloppy fries like Bachi Burger(in LA) stay crispy and blend into the sauce and toppings, not drown in it. Buffalo does however, have a good variety of beers and slider options. They have good menu twists and fusion flavors but something to make it amazing was just missing for me! It’s also a bit pricey, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to afford rent here.

Buffalo is currently my favorite restaurant in downtown Mountain View. It is the perfect place to grab a small bite with beer after work, or it works just as well for a casual dinner with delicious food. I will be the first to admit, I did not like everything on the menu at first, but the best part of Buffalo is they fixed all the issues since and I just can’t find anything wrong with them. Some of my favorite dishes there are the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken is moist and flavorful and the veggies cuts down the greasiness! The pork belly bao is a must. Don’t question it, just try it. The 220 slider is amazeballs! How they always manage to cook a quail egg perfectly sunny side up is beyond me. Finally, the wings. The wings are so good, I had to give the death stare to my boyfriend everytime he tries to take his fair share(which in my opinion is more than 1).

TASTEBUDSWERESINGING! Needed a snack while killing time downtown and sliders/baos seemed like a good idea. I settled with the bahn mi and the 220 slider(second to none according to the menu). Beef patties were juicy and perfectly spiced. The sweet pickled carrot and daikon really added to the overall flavor. The 220 slider was a beauty as well. Caramelized onion, applewood bacon, jalapeño, arugula, cheddar, topped off with a quail egg. HEAVEN. I’ll be back for the baos!

Love the concept, décor and food options here. Just reading the menu really makes you drool. However, I cannot justify the expensive price for such small portions– it felt a little ridiculous to me. I ordered the duck confit and pork belly baos, which were $ 4.75 each. $ 4.75… EACH! The bao are the small ones you normally use for peeking duck at a Chinese restaurant, and because I buy the same for Japanese pork baos that I make at home, I feel like they are really making a killing on these things. Consequently, I cannot justify the price and food. The pork belly was undoubtedly tasty, but nothing superb. The duck confit was definitely lacking in flavor and a little dry– sorry, I wouldn’t recommend it. After finishing my meal and not feeling full, I was eyeing my colleagues burgers and sweet potato fries($ 13). I think that was probably a better value because if the burger is as described in the menu, it should be fabulous. But, I was not smart enough to give the burger a try, so it’s so hard for me to say… If you’re coming here for the first time, a burger might be a better bet, so you don’t feel disappointed in the end. This was a rough one to review… argg.

Took a college drinking I used to play and made it park of the décor and name. The service is extremely friendly and quick. The food is creatively done and with a slight twist to everything. The cheese tater tot was not what I was expecting but so glad I ordered it. Seoul burger was nicely seasoned and weirdly refreshing.

This place doesnt get very crowded and surprisingly it seems to be one of the only burger joints on castro. I shared the pork bun bao which was yummy. The bun was sweet and the pork was all meat and crispy. I got the main burger with the fried egg on top and that was good– nice and juicy with sweet buns. I enjoyed the salad substitute instead of the fries. I didnt realize buffalo was a game but you can see the rules on the wall. I guess this calls for more beer and drunked fun.

I just got back from dinner not too long ago with my co worker. Our experience was a great one! This place is a mix of Korean/Chinese and West coast grill type sit down joint. The menu contains a range of interesting ingredients fused together for something flavorful and fun. We ordered the Bao Slider sampler, 9-piece wings that were dipped in soy-goner and regular buffalo, cheesy tots, and two different burgers. First off, the wings were amazing. The texture was ok(could’ve been more crispy); it was the sauce and glaze that was the star. The soy-ginger is to die for! Next, the cheesy tots were almost like fried mac n cheese balls but without the actual macaroni inside. These were excellent and well worth it for $ 4!(HH). The sliders are a nice sized portion with a sweet bun and juicy tender burger patty. I didn’t really enjoy the Bao; the pork belly wasn’t moist enough and could’ve had better texture instead of this dry texture. The burgers were excellent. I like how Buffalo uses sweet buns almost identical to Hawaiian buns. My Seuol burger had kimchi cabbage as the lettuce while my meat was glazed with bulgogi marinade. This burger is unique and packed with great flavor. It was worth it for $ 13. Overall, this place is excellent for Happy Hour! I totally suggest coming here to grab some beer, wine, and great bites! You can easily get full with the amount that’s given. I also suggest coming with your partner on a easy-going date or a group of friends! Buffalo is awesome and I’m going to definitely keep coming back!

3⁄5 solid stars Ordered: 1) Chicken Karaage bao: 2.5÷5 Why not more stars? I felt it was pricey for 1 bao.$ 4! It was pretty small too. 2) Seoul: 3⁄5 Yum! pretty tasty and moist!

This place has a very yuppy, SF hipster kind of feel with Asian fusion food. It’s hard to tell from just looking at the outside of the restaurant what kind of food they are serving. I came to this restaurant a couple months back on a whim — we were walking by and took a peek at the menu and were sold! We ended up ordering the 220 burger and an order of three baos. The baos are all delicious — I tried the pork belly, chicken karaage, and duck confit. Only complaint is that they were a little greasy as you bit into them, but I figure this is probably standard(happens all the time with Chairman Bao!). I ordered three as my meal and felt content. But for those with a bigger appetite, I would probably recommend a couple of these as an appetizer. The burger was also yummy. The unfortunate part was that the egg was a little bit over done and wasn’t as runny as I am used to when I have a fried egg in my burger. Not a deal breaker, just not ideal. I haven’t been back since as this place is a little bit out of the way, however, I would recommend to anyone open to trying something new and would return if in the area.

I’m not really a fan of Asian fusion, but this is the best burger I’ve had in a very long time! I ordered the Seoul Burger sans jalapeño, protein style(don’t like soggy buns), with sweet potato fries. The burger was a perfect medium rare, just the way I like it, and SUPER juicy. A little bit messy, but so worth it. Flavors were on point, and I’m glad the kimchi was plentiful but at the same time didn’t completely overtake the flavor of the burger itself. Kind of wish I had known about the fried egg option, but I’ll keep that in mind next time! Even the sweet potato fries were done with just the right amount of crisp on the outside. They had the game on all their TVs, which made for a perfect Sunday afternoon. No crowd, probably because we came in after the lunch rush. It was nice to just sit back and relax without so much hustle and bustle around. The people working there were very friendly and offered up some good recommendations to me as a first-timer. I’ll definitely be back here for their baos and other stuff.

If you like Asian fusion food, this is the place for you. Enjoyed myself so much the first time came back twice in one week. I definitely think this is one of the trendier places on Castro, which makes the food and drinks taste even better. What caught my eye was that they had baos, which is pretty much a Chinese taco with a hunk of meat, sauce, and vegetables. Here’s what I really liked: — Pork Belly Bao: a HUGE piece of meat. Very flavorful. Add Sriracha for that extra kick. Definitely one of their top sellers. — Sloppy Fries: An egg cooked to perfection, meat, and sauce over a huge plate of fries. This alone can get you full. — Chicken Wings: Three flavors, 9 wings. Pretty decent price for that many wings. It is definitely a good alternative to Chairman Bao!

I’ve been hittin up some spots on Castro st. Ever since my gf started work in the area. Buffalo was one of the first places I tried and I fell in love with their baos! I came during happy hour(3 – 6) and ordered the pork belly bao trio which was absolutely fantastic! The meat was crispy on the outside but super juicy and tender on the inside, and the accompanying cucumbers, green onions and hoisin based sauce was a perfect combination. On another note, I also had a slider on my second visit which was not as good. So bottom line, go with the baos!

In short: Love the sliders and wine/beer, but wish it was easier to see the menu before you order. I always feel rushed here. Should you try it? Yes, for casual, to-go«quick eats» situations or casual group eats. Ambience: Very«to go» atmosphere, although you can eat there inside and outside on the patio. Service: Very good service. You order at a counter and they bring your stuff out. Location: Right on Castro. Excellent location. 3 Key Tips: 1) Know what you want before you come in. 2) Order 2 sliders for small/diet appetite, 3 for standard appetite. 3) Excellent fries, and lots of great beers! Best Dish: I love the Classic slider, and The Guac.

Very friendly and attentive staff! They serve burgers and baos with a modern feeling restaurant. 220 Burger — Messy burger with an egg inside. It was delicious but very messy and heavy. Bao(Short Rib + Pork Belly) — Very easy to eat and recommended for their uniqueness. It’s the bread they use for Peking Duck + meat of their choice. They are $ 4.50 but it’s a small bite. 3 should make your tummy happy. The food is just a-ok, but their service bumps it up to a 4.

Buffalo is a very convenient place on Castro St. To grab a bite to eat. I was instantly intrigued by their bao(Chinese bun) menu, and I’m a sucker for Asian fusion dishes. I ordered 2BAOS – pork belly and eggplant. The pork belly was amazing! Very tender, fatty, and full of flavor. It’s reminiscent of The Chairman’s baos, minus pickled veggies, but with the addition of jalapeños and scallions on top. However, the eggplant was only so so. It didn’t have enough flavor, even with their special spicy sauce… maybe they can add some pickled veggies or marinate the eggplant more. I would recommend people get their Happy Hour baos(3 for $ 9) during week nights. Two was quite filling for me! My bf ordered the MUSHROOMBURGER and said it was quite tasty. It was loaded with mushrooms and Swiss cheese, so it would be a good choice for all you ‘shroom lovers out there. The burger also came with a side of regular shoe string fries. Service was quick and we got our food ~10 minutes after ordering. You order first at the counter and they give you a number for your table. The interior of the place is pretty cute – love the navy blue and yellow color scheme. There’s food related art/posters on the walls too. I will come back for more baos! Definitely pork belly and maybe chicken karaage.

Buffalo is hip burger joint that has bao and other types of burgers. I ordered the cod sammie with garlic fries and thought it was pretty darn good. My burger was a decent size and came with a big piece of deep fried cod, arugula, and tartar sauce. The burger was really tasty, and I could tell it was well seasoned. The tartar sauce was delicious as well! My fries were fresh, crispy, and packed with tons of chopped garlic and Parmesan. I was happy with my meal. The only reason I didn’t give Buffalo a five is because I wish they had more burger options such as chicken, lamb, and veggie. A crispy chicken burger would be a great addition! Overall, I will be coming back again for another cod sammie!

Not much to say, Buffalo is one of those places that attract the younger crowd in Downtown Mountain View. It’s easily comparable to a sports bar with its variety of beers, burgers, and other greasy foods. Just to walk you through the experience; when you go to Buffalo, you order at the counter and bring your # to your table. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to get your own water, but the girl who brought us our food also brought us water. Me and my friends ordered the 220 burger, pork belly bao, and duck confit bao. Everything tasted pretty good(maybe I was just hungry) but I definitely recommend the 220 burger. even though the baos tasted good, I wish they came in American portions because I finish them so quickly… The place is pretty pricey in terms of the food they offer, but it’s not surprising since it’s located in DT Mountain View. I’ll most likely be back if they have any specials that I don’t know about.
