Corazon y alma. I love casa lupe for any occasion. The ladies here who run and operate the joint are sweet hearts — exuding positive warm energy!

The service is always terrible here even though their location is incredibly tiny. They mess up food orders often. If you’re on Castro, save yourself the heartbreak of eating here and go somewhere else. Castro has about 30 restaurants better than this place. Seriously. If you want Mexican food, go down the street to Casa Lupe #2 located in Sunnyvale which is AMAZING and the total opposite of this location or Los Charros right down the street!

This is in my top two favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. Their Guacamole tostada is really great if you’re a fan of avocado — they put a ton of guac on top of it! They have a lot of good options for vegetarians, and the waitresses are always knowledgeable on what is/isn’t vegetarian. It’s down on the quieter side of Castro, and is a smaller, quieter place compared to other restaurants on the street, so my husband and I have always been able to get a table pretty easily. Love it!

This place never disappoints. Decent Mexican food, a pitcher of margarita or sangria, quick service, beautiful ambiance, people watching down the strip of Castro street, and friendly service! It’s as good as it gets! And… Dog friendly! We bring our dog all of the time and sit in the front patio. This place is small– I prefer outside seating. Definitely a must try. The best Mexican food down the Castro strip.

I had walked by this place several times and found it always crowded at noon, so I decided to try doing a late lunch. They close at 2:30, and we got there at 2:15, so they weren’t crowded. I wanted their deluxe burrito, which has a guacamole option, but they have onions in the guacamole(which I don’t like). The waiter immediately suggested sliced avocados which was a great substitution. The food had great flavor! It may not be an authentic Mexican restaurant, but it was still very good! I’d go back; I especially liked the fact that the wait staff is willing to modify the menu items to match your tastes.

The servers were very nice and attentive. At one point our waitress even took the time to apologize for being late getting our check. I’m very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food, but everything was really so flavorful and FRESH. And it was fresh without it having to be «tex mex.» I had the fish tacos which were on special for that day. I got the fish fried with rice and beans on the side. The fish was so fresh that it being fried definitely didn’t dry it out or take away from the flavor. The rice, beans and salsa was perfect too. My friends had the smothered burrito, guacamole covered tostada, and enchiladas. Everyone loved their food and we want to go back again to try the mixed drinks!

Great little restaurant. It is a mom and pop restaurant, so service is a little slow and décor is nice and quaint. If your looking for traditional style Mexican food, then this wont disappoint. The food is catered more for the American palate. Flavors are not bold, but mild and on the salty side. The flavors are similar to Taco Bell, but fresh and ten times better. Comfort food at its finest. I had the 3 item combo with one red enchilada with chicken, one green enchilada with ground beef, and one of the best chile rellenos I’ve ever had. Huge platters with lots of cheese. I will definitely come back when I get that craving for traditional Mexican food.

Food was overpriced and was nothing out of the ordinary. Cocktails were boring! I wouldn’t go back to this place again. There are much better restaurants in MTV downtown.

Came here for dinner with our boss. It wasn’t busy at all while other restaurants in the neighborhood was very busy, and the clientele were older folks. The staff were very friendly and brought chips and salsa very quickly. The food came out fairly fast as well but the portion was a lot smaller than I imagined. I had a carne asada plate and it only had 1 slice of meat(I thought there was a second piece somewhere, but nope). So I don’t believe it’s worth the 18 $ price tag. The flavor was also just OK, nothing special at all. I hope the restaurant improves.

I went here last night for dinner with some friends and it exceeded my expectations. The pre-dinner Chavelas, along with the spicy and chunky salsa and creamy, lime flavored guacamole was a great first impression. The steamy hot nachos and quesadilla really hit the spot, too. The service was friendly and efficient with the waiter checking on us frequently for chip and drink refills. And to top it all off, there was a guy playing a harp which gave the restaurant a little romantic feel. My only recommendation would be to have an a la carte menu. I’m not big on beans and rice as sides so I don’t want a big dinner platter of food I’m not going to eat. I’d rather order a few items a la carte. I’d also suggest having a shredded chicken option for the menu items. Otherwise, two thumbs up!

Best Mexican in Mountain View! SO good, wish they were open on Sundays! Their margaritas could be stronger though :)

Start with the tortilla chips are nothing to mention, but yet I feel the need. The horchata is good. It’s simply a reliable place for Mexican food.

I stumbled across this charming restaurant by the luck of the draw. I wasn’t disappointed. The food and the service were quite good. My server kept an eye on me so that I didn’t have to alert her to my retreating soft drink reservoir. The enchiladas de queso represented well; the rice and beans were okay. It’s now on my short list of dining venues when I’m in the area. Parking, in the rear and out front, is generous, free, and easily accessible. And there is much to see along Castro Street if one opts to window shop. I visited last in February 2015, but expect to frequent this spot with some regularity.

I work in a building nearby when I’m in the Valley. I droopy by to order carry out at the beginning of a late lunchtime walk and asked for«Yolandas(a.k.a chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans)» and said I’d return in 20 minutes. I believe they took advantage of me(either that or they’re just above average in price) as the tab was +/-$ 25. I’m guessing I was charged the dinnertime price rather than the lunchtime price. The food was completely adequate otherwise.

I’ve been to other Casa Lupe locations in the past, and have always been pleased with the food and the service. This was my first first to the Mountain View location, and I was not really impressed. The service was excellent, no fault there — however the food left something to be desired. First of all — the chips and salsa that were brought to the table. The two types of salsa was excellent as usual, but the chips were so stale you could bend them. I ordered the the beef taquitos, and they were so oily that there was an oil puddle on the plate. Oil was not hot enough maybe? This was my first visit here, and I will give it another try before I write it off. Sunnyvale and Los Altos locations are outstanding however.

I’m not necessarily a huge fan of Mexican food but lately been on a binge for it; some weird cravings happening in belly. My co-worker raves about this place which is close to our office and I decided to finally take him up on his offer to try this place out. The restaurant is quite small and a bit cramped and by the time we left, it was packed to the brim full of people. We both decided to cheat and each ordered a Sangria. It was tasty but not very strong at all; meh. I ended up going with the 2 item combination of the chile relleno and the beef tostada. My co-worker order the lunch special of taquitos. And I do have to say I was very impressed with the food. My chile relleno was perfectly cheese and the breading surrounding the chile was light and airy. My tostada was had nice, thick pieces of beef; not ground like I had expected. All the flavors of both items were a hit in my mouth! I had to agree with him that this place is very good and I definitely want to go back and have the chile relleno again. I could eat that everyday!

I’m not sure how I feel about casa lupe– I’m going to say I had a very average experience here. I came here for a night of tacos and margaritas. The tacos were delicious and the portion was huge! It was definitely too big for one person. The margaritas were honestly average– and I’m not exactly sure how much tequila they put in. I was a bit disappointed by the service. I felt like the servers were ignoring me(didn’t even ask if I wanted a drink while I was waiting for my friend) but they were nice enough when we were able to get their attention. Overall I wouldn’t refuse coming back here but I’m not going to go out of my way to come.

Wundebar! We found parking in the lot out back and popped in at 6 to discover most of the tables full, save for a few inside and outside. The other half of our party of 4 was still parking, but we were seated after the staff served a few other tables’ food. We ordered a pitcher of Cadillac Margarita and some guacamole to go with our chips. I ordered the Enchilada California with chicken, which was delightful. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The place was packed when we left so for a Saturday meal here I recommend coming early.

Another lack luster experience. My water was filled once when I sat down… that was it, ended up filling it using my wifes glass. No table service at all. The food was not bad but the portion is a joke for what you pay. Took forever for me to get my bill. Meh. I wanted to avoid this place but La Bamba, which is right down the street is closed.

I work right around the area and really like this little Mexican restaurant. Its much cleaner, brighter, and friendlier than other Mexican places in the area. A great little place to sit down and enjoy a meal with friends or someone special. The food here is good quality, no cheap preparation, they take their time to serve it looking good on a plate. Flavor is good, not greasy or over salted. Very consistent quality both times I’ve been here. The first time I sat in and got an enchilada with rice and beans. Served with complimentary chips and tasty salsa. Everything was good! The second time I got a shrimp burrito for takeout. I expected a typical burrito with shrimp in it wrapped in foil but they actually gave me a take out box because it is served with a tomato sauce on top with shrimp both in and on top of the giant burrito(definitely enough for two meals, and I am a girl who can eat too). Really impressive quality. Only thing I can dock them for is that the shrimp was really overcooked and a little bland. Everything else in the burrito was good. Recently got their FISHBURRITO. It’s awesome! Fresh large chunk of tasty fried fish wrapped inside a burrito with rice, beans, guac, sour cream and salsa on top. So good I’ll have to get it again next time. :) What I really LOVE about Casa Lupe though is the service and ambience. I would choose to sit down to eat here any day just to enjoy the bright colorful decorations and the fun music and happy waitresses.
