My doctor ordered a consult with a rheumatologist so I made an appointment with Dr. Brown (Thanks Unilocal!). He was fantastic. A very good listener, very thorough, and even though I was only there to rule out an underlying condition, he gave me hope that if I don’t get answers later down the road, that there are always options to get my quality of life back.

I had a wonderful rheumatologist at the Kaiser in SF, but when I ended up at a job that didn’t offer Kaiser coverage, I was forced to look for a new MD. Dr Brown is actually the second Dr I saw after I lost Kaiser. I didn’t like the first Dr I found… our first visit felt like some sterile anatomy course. They were not really friendly and the staff made me feel uncomfortable since i was much younger than all the other patients there.
So imagine my relief when I found Dr Brown! During my first visit, we spent a lot of time just chatting about how I got to where I am now (even though he had all my medical history files). I love that he’s pretty easy-​going and is trying to phase me off the medication I’ve been on. We still have great chats at each of my follow up visits about next steps, and he’s been very accommodating when I didn’t feel ready to move to the next steps. Also, I’m not «fully» in the PAMF system, so when I found out my insurance didn’t cover labs at PAMF, the nurses were really helpful in getting me a written lab order so I can take it elsewhere.

This is a great doctor. Many doctors suffer from MDeity. Not Dr Brown. He is patient, helpful, and knows his field extremely well.

Never did I imagine myself in need of a rheumatologist, but boy-​o-​boy, did I hit pay dirt when I found Dr. Brown. He’s patient, kind, and caring on top of being well-​versed in his field. I could go on and on with the superlative additives, but there’s not enough room on this site for all of them! ! He’s been working with me for the past year and a half, stomping out fires, smoothing out bumps. Oh, and I couldn’t sing the praises of Dr. Brown without mentioning his nurse, Patty Ma. Quite simply, she’s heaven sent. Really.

Being a new patient, great Doctor who spent time (more than 30 minutes!!) getting to know me and explaining all the alternative remedies. I didn’t feel rushed like most doctors.

Excellent doctor, he is. Spent much time with me, asking excellent questions.
