I’ve been seeing Dr. Kuzis for many years concerning my arthritis. I have found her a very compassionate and competent physician. Thanks doctor for all your help. Kevin Reid

After experiencing significant GI issues for months I saw Dr. Kuzis hoping she could shed some light on whether my symptoms were related to an autoimmune disease or something more GI specific. She assured me there was«no way» the autoimmune test panel would come back positive but ordered them anyway when I was insistent. A few days later most of the tests came back abnormal including the most specific test. Pretty alarming to get these kind of results by email and Dr Kuzis did not contact me for another week to discuss them. She then told me I was«not sick enough» to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and had«no idea» why my tests were abnormal(!) She did not give me a diagnosis, a treatment option or even a referral to another doctor who could have been helpful. So I was left just as sick as when I first contacted her and wouldn’t advise anyone else to waste their time.

In looking for a rheumatologist in the Palo Alto Medical Foundation network, Dr Kuzis had the soonest availability, so I was able to consult with her two days after my initial phone inquiry. Dr Kuzis’ assistant saw me first to get a general idea of what prompted my visit before seeing me. I found Dr Kuzis a patient listener, with polite bedside manner. In selecting a doctor/specialist, I recall research articles that recommend physicians who have between 5 – 15 years of experience(since residency/fellowship), with this being an ideal range between adequate experience, while still being ‘young’ enough to be aware of novel treatment options as are invented. From this perspective, I found Dr Kuzis may not have been familiar with the more current treatment techniques I described to her for my ailments. Nonetheless, Dr Kuzis spent generous time during the physical exam and addressing my various concerns, for which I am grateful. In assigning a panel of blood tests, I found the lab down the hall to be of great convenience. Dr Kuzis called me two days later(Friday after 5pm!) to share with me the results of the testing, for which I am also very grateful. Overall, for more routine diagnostics and ailments, Dr Kuzis is undoubtedly a doctor I would re-visit, but for borderline complex cases(where state-of-the-art treatment options are available), I might consider an alternate practitioner.
