Nice hole-in-the-wall hangout with great food. Back area for family dining, front room with a small bar and some high-tops. Fantastic pizza and cold beer. Dinner specials and happy hour specials. Chicken francese is lemony goodness. Prices are great.

Slightly divey but just casual enough to be a little cozy. The food is great, the drinks are cheap, but it is TINY. If you want to make sure to get a table come early.

Foods sucks. Wings with no sauce! Pizza is pretty gross. If you need late night food your better of going to 7 – 11 across the street.

One of those spots every town should have. The true«neighborhood» joint. Absolutely no frills, all locals. Manager Mohammed is a good guy. Great down home cooking. Had the Chicken Marsala… awesome. Girlfriend had the Stromboli… loved. Will surely be our new local spot.

Another great find, thanks to Unilocal! My wife was out of state on business and my son wanted pizza but from«someplace new.» Two minutes research revealed a place I had never heard of ten minutes away. And off we went. Picked up some cash. Cash only, don’t you know. Snagged the last space in the small lot. Snagged the last two person booth in the small dining room. Sam Adams for me, lemonade for the boy? Check. Enjoyed watching the bar scene. Lots of regulars enjoying the Yankees win/lose. Our super friendly waitress brought our pie right out. Unilocaler, Donna P is spot on. Best pizza in the area. Large pie, half sausage, half plain. Thin crust yumminess. Gone in minutes. So, thank you Unilocal and the folks who wrote these glowing reviews. I’m pleased that I can offer another.

Great neighborhood sports pub. Best pizza in the area, except they don’t have chunky sausage(I hate sliced — Chicago thing). It’s most impressive that Chrone’s offers one of the best CAIPA’s around, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, which is currently on tap. Bartenders Larry and Chris are great. Doesn’t get much better than this for a neighborhood spot.

Visited in Jan. 2014 and my sense is that the kitchen is run as some type of concession separate from the bar. I felt bad for the poor servers, because the restaurant host/maitre ‘d/manager was rude, officious, cold and disagreeable toward diners, both about seating arrangements and hurrying people out of the restaurant when he decided their meal was over. One middle-aged couple near us was asked to leave for no good reason other than that he wanted to turn the table — they were polite and told him they were staying another few minutes. It was just extraordinary, and the place was far from packed. The pizza and veal marsala were decidedly ordinary. Won’t rush to return.

A tiny bar with a small restaurant of 10 tables or so. We love the staff who are very nice, helpful and friendly. We love the vibe here, very homey and not pretentious. Great consistent pizza and pasta. The sauce is something really special, sweet and delicious. We always order a salad which is consistently fresh. We also dig the onion rings!

We had pizza and a salad. The pizza was tasty and the crust was good but there were minor things: the slices were different sizes(two really big slices and two really small slices) and the middle crust was very soft/soggy and outer was crisp. The salad was ok but had too much dressing. I guess you could say that the food was good but carelessly prepared. It is kind of a dive bar which I like. It’s not pretentious like many other restaurants and bars in the area. Could be cleaner too. I’d go back since I expect they’ll be better next time.

Fantastic pizza — thin, super delicious and flavorful sauce… just the way I like it. The pizza also came out quickly. I haven’t tried their other dishes but other reviewers have mentioned some great options to try if I were ever in the area again. I was here around 3 pm on a weekday so that may have accounted for the inattentive service we received. There were people in the bar area, though — and this place definitely has that nice, local feel. I will definitely return!

Hands down this is the best pizza that i have found in this entire area. and any of the surrounding areas. My favorites are meatball and sausage, and white pie with veggies. Everything is freshly made to order There is no delivery service, but you can call and they have a pickup window. The calamari is light and tender, the marinara sauce that is served on top is chunky, with a hit of garlic and delicious. I have tried just about everything on their menu. One of my favorites is the chicken francaise in a lemon butter sauce. It very tasty. I also like that they combine dishes like eggplant and chicken parm, or shrimp and chicken etc. They also have antipasto, and different salads. The waitresses are very friendly. The service is very good and very attentive. The Chrones bar that is part of the restaurant has been there for over 40 yr or more. It comes with it’s own characters just like Cheers! U can always get a good drink or a nice glass of wine. There is limited parking, but u can park on the street or if late at night park across the street. The restaurant takes cash only! I have been eating here for over 10 years! I would definitely recommend that u try this non pretentious place!

This is a dive bar that incidentally has a decent pizza place attached to it. The pizza is tasty and hot, the waitresses are incredibly friendly, and the pasta sauce is delicious. They were super attentive and very nice about our noisy and rambunctious toddler. This is the best pizza that I know of, and i also look forward to having their pasta. We eat here once every couple of months.

Neighborhood bar atmosphere. Italian food that surpasses any of those in Westfield. Great cocktails. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. What’s not to like?

Outstanding pizza. Highly rated by the Star-Ledger. Rustic, casual or working-class décor(take your pick) and that’s the perfect counterpoint to all the chic Westfield restaurants nearby(how much oak and polished brass can you take?). Separate bar and booths. You probably drank in humblerbbars in college. One of the few pizza places around that won’t deliver(takeout, yes). They’d probably be bigger than Merck if they did deliver.

Good food, friendly service– could use a facelift/décor changes but that’s okay when their chicken milanese is soooo good!

Hands down my favorite pizza in nj. If you like thin crust, more well done pizza, this is the spot. They also have amazing dinners. I highly recommend the muscles and chicken Milanese.

We were in the area from out of town and wanted good pizza. Based on the five star review from Ed L. my husband and I gave this place a shot. Not sure really what the atmosphere is here at night, but we were in right at noon on a Saturday and there were only a few people sitting at the bar and no one in the restaurant area. We split a large pie. The crust was thin and crispy and delicious, but they were a little skimpy on the pepperoni and extra cheese which is why I can only give ‘em 4 stars.

Simply put, the best pizza in the area. Easily worth the drive from any of the surrounding towns into Mountainside. Chrone’s has fanatastic thin-crust pizza. No gimmicks. And I would bet the prices are better than the local Italian place. Skip Domino’s, the local Italian joint, and try Chrone’s. Try the chicken wings too, they are fried with the skin on — very tasty and they give you plenty of sauce to dip with. By the way, our favorite is the black olive and sausage pie. What is yours?
