Having been born and raised in the deep south of Alabama, I naturally consider myself to be a southern and soul food connoisseur. I’ve been to Jeff’s several times, and qall I have to say is «WOW!» The place is a meat and three, and I’ve been making my way around the menu. Everything I’ve tried so far has been a hit. A couple of my favorites include the BBQ half roast chicken, greens, catfish, hot water cornbread, and the fried okra. The portions are substantial and lunch and a drink will only run you around $ 10-$ 12. The staff is so warm and hospitable, so don’t be surprised when they call you«Sugah» or «Honey». I love it — makes me feel back at home! I highly recommend.

I almost don’t want to review this place well for fear that college hipsters will ruin this place. But unfortunately I hope that Jeff and his mother success so I will give them the review they deserve. First of all this place feels and tastes like walking into your slightly eccentric grandmothers basement. along one wall there is a old giant aquarium, a oldschool wind-up alarm clock that somebody has glued wings to, a tv playing the news, and a little display of shirts from i assume the owners church. But all of that is not important. What is important is the food. And it stands out. It is hands down the best southern food I have had in the area. Its not fancy, just stick to your ribs good. And Jeff and Nana were amazing hosts. I came in on a off hour(2pm on a Teusday) and after a little bit of talking to the owners they helped me select what i would want for lunch from their cafeteria style counter. Don’t let the lack of ambiance frighten you, the unlimited catfish and unlimited sides that I had(dressing, mash potatoes, and stewed apples) were so good I kept eating well past the point that I was full. I kept eating till I hated myself a little it was so good. My only regret was that at the end of the meal I was so stuffed that I didn’t get to try a bit of the delicious looking deserts.

Can’t say enough about the good southern cooking at this wonderful establishment after eating there for the first time today. The quality of the food is top notch, and you will leave full, that’s for sure. Very much that small local business we all say we want to support, so if you have the time, go there and give them your lunch or dinner dollar. Go to Jeff’s!

I am new to Murfreesboro so I have been trying restaurants that I have never eaten at before. Jeff’s is definitely a place I will be going to again. Although the building itself is a little run down, and the food is sitting in cafeteria style warmers, it is actually quite delicious. I love the chicken fried steak and their chess pie is amazing. It feels like im having a home cooked meal when I come here. The employees are very welcoming and they make me feel at home when I come in. I will definitely be recommending Jeff’s to my friends.

What a wonderful place! We were traveling on a cold rainy day and found Jeffs via road , The atmosphere was cozy and warm with friendly people and just the best food ever. I wish we lived nearby so we could go every day. Highly recommended!

Jeff’s is the BEST meat and three family style restaurant in Mboro(in my opinion). It is off the beaten path and there isn’t some glamorous location, but you can tell that they prepare all their food with love and that they truly care about their customers. I have NEVER gone there and not have a great experience with staff and my food. The food is ALWAYS tasty and HOT. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. The very first time that I went to Jeff’s one of the guys on the line asked was this my first time there and I said yes sir it is. He was very helpful and even made some suggestions. I thought that was awesome that he realized a new customer. Their BBQ chicken, cabbage, and hot water cornbread will make you slap somebody!!! Don’t sleep on Jeff’s Family Resturant… it is a GREAT find and you’ll keep going back. I know that I will!!!

Our daughter is a freshman at MTSU, and we found Jeff’s Family Restaurant when we were searching for a local, family-style type restaurant. We’ll definitely be return customers. Our experience was nothing but pleasant, from the warm welcoming owners and staff who make you feel right at home, to the delicious home cooking. Everyone in our party of four ordered the meat &2 plate(1 ordered country fried steak, and the remaining 3 ordered the fried chicken). The side dishes we chose were seasoned just right(mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, fried apples, and sweet potatoes). Their chess pie(which I’d read about in reviews as being fabulous) was sold out(we were there for a late lunch), but I had my mind set on pie so I decided to order the chocolate chess pie instead and wasn’t disappointed. My family recommends Jeff’s if you’re looking for a good home-cooking, southern-style meal with an atmosphere to match!

I love the meat and threes. Jeff’s friendly service and remarkable food made me a happy boy. I wanted some banana pudding however they were sold out. 1pm and all gone! I guess I come earlier for shot at the banana pudding. ½ chicken was excellent I will return!

Jeff’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Murfreesboro. The people are friendly and the food is perfect. I’ve never had a dish I didn’t like and the desserts are not worth passing up. Go to Jeff’s! Eat their food!

My boys and I recently had lunch at Jeff’s. It was my first time there. It is a hole in the wall place with not much of an atmosphere, but they have very friendly service and decent food. This is definitely a «family» restaurant. A lot of the family works there. I have a cajon catfish sandwich and my boys had the fried chicken. It was all very tasty. They have excellent looking cakes and desserts. All homemade! If you like homemade cooking, this is the place for you.

The good kind of dive. Caffeteria style: pick a meat, pick 3 sides. It reminds me of going to grandma’s! A perfect place to take out of town guests who want«southern cookin.»

Looking for something to eat while working and always stay away from chains! This came up on Unilocal and was very happy it did. You would not find this driving around, off the beatin track. Great home cookin, large portions, priced right and were friendly. I will come back for the Catfish!!!

Good food. And cute little dinner atmosphere going on. Friendly table staff coming around and checking on us as we eat. I had the whiting fish it was pretty good. I am no judge on this tho bring my first time eating it. My wife had the fried chicken and said it was some of the best she has ever had… The Mac and cheese was ok not as good as some of the others

I was very disappointed when I got here and sat down to eat my food. The presentation was very nice like a old-school kind of restaurant however, when it came time to eat the food was extremely bland. I had catfish Macand cheese and pinto beans and sweet tea.

Just got back from lunch at Jeff’s,… and WOW. a friend of mine kept telling me i had to try this place, and I’m so glad he did. I could literally eat here every single day. Great«Meat &3» place tucked a little ways off the square on Hancock St. You walk in and get in line(and at lunchtime, there will be a line) You will place your order«cafeteria style», pay, and find a table and when it is ready they will bring it out to you. Ordered the country fried steak w/white gravy, green beans, and mac n cheese With flap jack cornbread. $ 12.75, And I have half of it left over for a second meal. If you’re missing mama’s cookin– This is your place.

Yay for our first meat and three! The rib plate was awesome, and I’d pick the flap jack corn bread over the hot water corn bread. We took home a slice of caramel cake and chocolate cake. Both were really good.

I now know why Jeff’s has such great ratings. Talk about down home comfort food! I had a huge piece of chicken fried steak with gravy, deliciously seasoned cabbage, fried okra and flapjack cornbread, which was buttery, sweet, crispy on the outside and not too dense on the inside. My husband raved about his fried chicken, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the okra was a bit chewy. Jeff’s Mom came by to check on our table several times and was so sweet. Another bonus is you are served from a buffet line, so if you are absolutely starving as I was, you will get instant gratification. Will definitely be returning!

We went for dinner this evening based on wonderful Unilocal reviews. Jeff’s is located in a residential neighborhood off of Mercury Blvd. Before we even had a chance to look at the menu, we were greeted and approached by the staff. A nice lady showed us the specials and a man showed us the sides. My husband and I both chose the Cajun catfish with two sides and a bread choice. I chose the okra, mac & cheese, and hot water cornbread. Hubs chose the mac & cheese, cream corn, and yeast roll. The fish is made to order but we didn’t wait very long. It was almost an empty restaurant at 5pm on a Thursday. When our food came out, they had given me a piece of the flapjack cornbread as well. Literally everything was great. The catfish was hot and the breading was crispy and a little spicy. The sides were good and I can’t wait to try different ones next time. All of the bread was great but the roll and the flapjack cornbread were excellent. It will be a tough choice between those two on our next visit! This was a huge plate of food(that we both magically cleared!) that only set us back $ 7.95 per plate. Sadly they were making banana pudding but I didn’t get to try any. I promised them we would be back to try it and I will keep that promise! During our meal, we were checked on multiple times by multiple people. You can tell they really care about their customers and the delicious food they make. Great home cookin’, friendly staff, and less than 2 miles from our house. We will for sure be back!

As usual I go to Unilocal in search of good eats on a Sunday, that me and my sister can go grub at. I came across Jeff’s as the only restaurant left in the Boro with a 5 star avg rating. This surprised me, and of course curiosity kills me, so I had to check it out once the opportunity came… and boy did the reputation that Unilocal gave Jeff’s stick with me. I came in and it certainly did look like a family owned restaurant, which I definitely took to heart and appreciated. I ordered a BBQ plate with pinto beans and a flapjack. First off, the Ribs were awesome, not as great as Kleer Vu’s, but definitely way above average ribs. The beans were flavorful and warm, and the Flapjack was just sensational, so nice and fluffy it was :) I forgot to mention my sister’s mash potatoes and chicken. Ok so they basically gave us an entire bird, and this bird was so nice and juicy, and the BBQ sauce in top was top notch. Her Mash Potatoes were like Kleer Vu’s, freshly made and delicious. Lastly, the Banana pudding and chess pie. I’ve never tried chess pie before, but it was just a pie full of deliciousness! Now the Banana pudding… My God, this pudding was just… I don’t even know! There is not enough praising adjectives in the English vocabulary to describe this desert. This is one of, if not the BEST desert I have ever had at a restaurant! On a different subject, the Staff. The entire staff is one big happy Family. Our server was Mattie, who is the mother of Jeff and the others. And she is just the sweetest thing alive, she’ll treat you as if you were her own children. Honestly this place is just fantastic. If you’ve never gone, and you have a chance to go… THENGO!!!
