The wings are the best I’ve ever eaten. The coconut cake is so so good. It’s well worth the drive from anywhere in Mid Tennessee to go to this place for the best BBQ ribs and wings you’ll ever have.

This is a great BBQ restaurant. I have traveled all over and this is one of my favorites. It can get crowded at times but the food keeps me coming back for more. Mostly college kids due to the proximity of MTSU. I liked the pork the best but all of it is good. I would give it five stars but I have tasted better in California and Texas.

In town while traveling back from a week-long trip to Florida. Went searching for a local BBQ joint and boy did we find one. Everything we had was wonderful. Good portions and great food. Especially enjoyed the wings. Had pulled pork, fried pickles, wings, slaw, mac & cheese, & fries. I don’t pretend to be an expert as it pertains to food, but my entire family enjoyed this meal.

The blind pig was a great fix for my BBQ sweet tooth. Nothin like visiting Nashville to sample some of the local eats. Family owned and excellent customer service.

Nashville area is flooded with poor to average food. This is a top 3BBQ joint in the area, and it stands alone in the ‘boro. Great price, can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. You have to remember to ask for the Fruit Tea, because they keep it hidden behind the counter. This is what most of the barbeque places around these parts wish they could live up to.

Unilocalers led us here – touted as the best bbq in Murfreesboro. The quick take: The turn off: Everything is served in styrofoam – I couldn’t shake the visions of mountains of styrofoam after a busy Friday night. All cutlery is one use, disposable plastic. For this reason alone, we won’t come back to Slick Pig. I worked in restos for 6 years and have a sense of the waste output and grew up on a farm where we burned or buried our waste and couldn’t just dump it on someone else’s land. It weighs too heavily on me. Slick Pig, if you could change one thing, pls adopt more environmentally conscious. We have to hand this incredible planet over to our kids. Standouts: Desserts here are what you expect from a Southern spread and are exceptional. A sugar blast that might have put me in a bit of a coma. Banana pudding topped with a soft meringue that tasted vaguely like bubblegum when I closed my eyes. Coconut cake topped with dream whip and more coconut. Moist, fluffy, with a base soaked in maybe coconut or pineapple syrup? A coconut cream pie topped with meringue – holy mother of cream pies. The main event – ribs are okay but I don’t think we’ll be back for the ribs. Our favorite ribs and brisket are still Martin’s in Nolensville. Ribs are wet styled and sticky. They seem pretty good. Brisket is kind of dry and possibly rushed through its cooking process. Smoked turkey is dry. Catfish is overly salty and does not compare to Cracker Barrel, which is my high water mark for restaurant catfish. CB makes the absolute best catfish, crunchy cornbread dredged filets that complement the subtle, fatty catfish filets. Turnip greens are smoky and tasty – not overly salty or vinegar-y. We came relatively early on a Friday night and were followed by a significant dinner crowd. The staff taking orders and delivering food couldn’t be more helpful, polite and friendly. These folks are nice. Be prepared to make a multitude of decisions as you order. A side or three comes with almost everything. We ordered the following: Rib sandwich Brisket plate with turnip greens, onion, tomato slices Hamburger Large salad with honey mustard Coconut cake Coconut meringue Banana pudding Redneck taco

Slick Pig’s menu includes catfish, chicken tenders, and wings in addition to regular BBQ fare. The selections of sides is also impressive with options like pickled tomatoes, baked potatoes, and salads. Orders are placed at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. You get free self-serve refills. I had the pork plate with a side order of smoked wings, which was a good value for $ 14.74 with pretty average potion size. Everything was served hot. The beans and the mac and cheese were nothing special. Not bad, but nothing special. The wings and BBQ pork were solid. I tried both of the sauces they had sitting on the table, a vinegar type sauce and a sweeter sauce. Both had a thin consistency and both were fine. The hushpuppies were particularly good, I’d like to know what their recipe is for those. Most of the tables were arranged cafeteria style. The décor was nothing fancy, lots of MTSU memorabilia and a down home feeling to the place. On a weeknight during dinnertime they were seeing moderate traffic with a mix of folks dining and several coming in to grab carry out. I’m looking forward to coming back to this place again to try more of what they offer.

As transplants from Cleveland, OH, this is one of the places we always take our out-of-town visitors. Food is always amazing, I love the pulled pork, visitors always rave about the wings, my wife loves their mac and cheese, my father-in-law said the catfish is excellent. Apparently there is nothing on this menu that will disappoint.

I had the combo plate that included ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings. I had the corn bread and baked beans as a side. Price was good, quantity was good but meat was dry.

This little, out of the way BBQ place was my first experience if BBQ in Tennessee. And oh boy, they didn’t disappoint! Like you’ve seen before, Tuesdays are 99 cent pork sandwiches that are tender and flavorful. The beans are sweet with a great flavor and a lingering spice. That’s a robust menu that will satisfy pretty much anyone! I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing others.

Even though it’s only a 45-minute drive south of Nashville(and even closer to my side of town), I really don’t know that much about Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I figured that the best, or at least the tastiest way to find out what the place is all about was by sampling their barbecue. Today I gave that honor to Slick Pig. With twenty years of meat-smoking experience under their belt, they were sure to be a worthy contender. Slick Pig’s setup is rather simple, which I hoped meant that they were focusing their energy and their cash on the barbecue instead of the ambiance. That being said, everything from the chairs and barstools to the walls and tablecloths was appropriately Middle Tennessee State University blue and white. No doubt the proximity to the Blue Raider campus does a great job of bringing in large crowds. Slick Pig has several smaller lunch specials to choose from, but their massive #5 Combo Platter includes six smoked wings, a half-rack of pork ribs, a quarter-pound of pulled pork, a quarter-pound of brisket, a half-pint of stew, coleslaw, and garlic toast. Well, at least I’d have some leftovers to take for lunch on Monday. I politely substituted potato salad for the slaw and anxiously awaited my excessive lunch order. The potato salad was homemade and rather tasty. You wouldn’t guess by looking at it, but there was a ton of flavor to go around. It was mostly mayo-based, with just enough mustard to make things interesting. While Brunswick traditionalists might opt for squirrel or possum as their meat of choice, Slick Pig thankfully uses a chicken/pork/beef combination. There wasn’t as much of a spicy kick as I had hoped for, and the shredded meat inevitably kept juice running down my chin the whole time. All in all, it was a decent accompaniment to my lunch, but I think I’ll stick to the customary beef, carrots, and potatoes-type of stew. Slick Pig’s hickory-smoked wings are by far their biggest seller, and for good reason. The crispy skin was well seasoned and delightful, as was the tender meat. I could definitely taste the smoke, which isn’t always the easiest accomplishment when poultry is involved. I wouldn’t really say that the pulled pork was pre-sauced, though it does come with a drizzle of runny, Carolina-style vinegar. That actually made the pork extra tender and very flavorful. The vinegar didn’t mask the natural pork or the smoke either, but instead amplified things nicely. When I see the word«brisket» on a barbecue joint’s menu, I obviously expect my beef to be served in slices or, at the very least, chopped. Instead, I received large chunks of beef which ironically would have been better suited for the stew I’d eaten earlier. When in Rome, I suppose. There was a good hit of black pepper in each bite. The brisket was also tender and not the least bit dry or greasy. I couldn’t pinpoint any evidence of smoke, either visually or on my palate, but it was still tasty enough. The ribs fell apart with very little effort at all. Many folks see«falling-off-the-bone» as a positive attribute for ribs, but I do not(and never will) share their sentiment. Most of the ribs had a decent texture, though some bites were noticeably on the dry side. The sugary rib glaze was by far the dominant flavor here, and just a hint of smoke was all that I could find outside of that. On Tuesdays, Slick Pig offers all day 99-cent pulled pork sandwiches. I can’t wait to go back and see how many of those bad boys I can scarf down, perhaps with a side of smoked wings for good measure. As for the rest of their barbecue, I’ll pass.

If I could post more stars I would! I was visiting my sister for her wedding and I told her that I really want bbq while in Tennessee. We found Slick Pig so we tried it. Omg!!! I had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork. OMG!!! I would say THEBEST bbq I have ever had! And they have bbq sauce on the tables, the thick one is AMAZING! I hope they ship to California! I told my sister she needs to invest in a food saver and dry ice and ship the pulled pork to me! Definitely won’t be disappointed!

Have you ever gone out to eat and the restaurant was so packed that you had to wait what seemed like forever? Well, that’s the Slick Pig… but there’s a twist to this review. The Slick Pig was filled to capacity which immediately had me thinking that it must be pretty good. Every Tuesday The Slick Pig has the best kept secret in this neck of the woods. Pork sandwich goes for .99 cents. I ordered two seeing how I am a glutton for a great bargain. Having an hour for lunch I figured that I could wait for 20 minutes for my BBQ pork sandwich so when the server brought my order to me 5 minutes after I ordered I was definitely surprised. The sandwich was delicious and for 2.17 cents total I will probably be there next Tuesday as well. Stop in and join me if you are in the area, my treat.

The Middle Tennessee Submarine Veterans decided we wanted barbecue following our meeting, so 16 of us invaded The Slick Pig BBQ. They were great! They found seating for all of us, and even gave us our own waitress to keep an eye on us. When it comes to barbecue, I tend to prefer pork to beef most all of the time. But one of our members lives near there and is a regular there. He highly recommended the beef brisket, so I gave it a try. It was very good. It had a lot of bark on it but was still tender inside. So, the bottom line is great food, reasonable prices, and outstanding service.

Firstly, my family LOVES bbq. We just moved into town and, unfortunately, I had to sell my smoker as my new rental property doesn’t allow me to have one. Needless to say, I had to find a good bbq place. I only tried two things when I ordered from here: Smoked wings and brisket, no sides. Based on these I give this place four stars. The smoked wings were outstanding 5 star wings. If you order smoked wings you have the option to get them fried once they’re pulled from the smoker, so I ordered half of my wings fried. Both options are nothing short of amazing. We don’t see either style as better than the other, they’re just different. Try them both, you be the judge. The brisket wasn’t to my liking, and gets 3 stars. It was very wet and a bit greasy, which is probably great on a sandwich, but I prefer a dry rubbed brisket. The taste was great, but I like to eat brisket with my hands, minus the bun. I order a half pound of brisket and it was not given to me sliced, so it was just one big hunk of wet meat. This really hurts me, since I’m a big brisket fan. The girl working the register who took my order was super friendly and helpful. The meats were brought out pretty quickly, even though the place was packed. I will go back, and I will try more of their food, but I will absolutely order more of those smoked wings!
