I have been to Rick’s BBQ a handful of times. First off, I like the food. It seems reasonably priced and the portions have always been great. My problem is this: the staff. Each time I have visited it seemed to be burdensome for the staff to take my order. No smile whatsoever. No «welcome to Ricks» or «thank you have a great day». These people either have terrible attitudes because it is simply who they are, or it just must be a terrible place to work. Some may care only how the food is, which again its very good, but the service puts a «bad taste in my mouth» metaphorically speaking.

The lunch I got was not great can’t even say it was basic. I’ll go with it was a waste of time, an money being I ate very little of this mistake.

We waited 20 minutes for our food, and noticed the people who had come in after us already had their food. When we went and asked if our order was coming they didn’t have our order, and didn’t offer to compensate out meal in any way. The bbq was very bland, the vinegar slaw and baked potato salad were pretty good. The mild bbq sauce tasted like sweet tomato paste, the hot bbq sauce was Frank’s red hot buffalo sauce. Dont wear your dress clothes if you plan on going to Rick’s, because the«bbq sauce» is practically water and splatters all over you. This is quite possibly the worst bbq I have ever had.

This was the 1st visit to Rick’s BBQ and will be the last. I love BBQ and this was some of the worst I’ve had. We waited over 20 minutes after we ordered and noticed everyone before and after us had already eaten. I then went and asked about our food and the girl that had taken our order had no clue about it. She hadn’t even given it to the kitchen. Once we got our food, I had ordered the rib platter, I was not impressed at all. The meat was spare ribs with a lot of meat but not much flavor. There was no rub, seasoning, or hint of smoke at all. Which leads me to believe they were cooked in the oven because they were very greasy. The meat also seemed a little over cooked. The sauces where on the table, a mild and hot. The hot was basically Franks hot sauce and the mild was just a sweet tomato sauce. Ironically if you mixed them, it was decent. On a high note the loaded potato salad and vinegar slaw was pretty good. I wished we had used Unilocal to get an idea before we went here.

Let me start by saying that I actually love Rick’s BBQ… the real Rick’s that is. I have eaten at the locations in Lawrenceburg many times and I always loved it but when I tried this location it was immediately obvious to me that they are ripping people off! The location in Lawrenceburg gives you 3 times as much chicken, not an exaggeration. They were too stingy to even give me a darn pickle spear at the Warrior Drive location. You all are being duped by these con artists! They are stealing you blind!

Isn’t it amazing that Ricks has all these negative reviews posted and no explanation or apologies. This business needs to just close.

The worst barbecue I’ve ever had. The potato salad was the only good thing about the meal.

I am from Kentucky. I know it is not known for barbeque. I have been to Rick’s twice. Both times horrible. They do not even cook their own barbeque on the Memorial Blvd location. How can you heat up barbeque in an oven and open a restaurant. The barbeque is dry and the sauces awful. I smoke alot of meats and ran a family restaurant for 4 years. Nothing here is fresh. I would be glad to show anyone how good barbeque tastes.

I picked up lunch for the family on Sunday which consisted of the«Picnic Pack» and some potato salad. It included 2lbs of pork BBQ, 12 buns, cole slaw(vinegar base) baked beans, and ½ a gallon of sweet tea all for $ 28.00. The pork was juicy and very similar to Whitt’s(which is actually what I was looking for) while both the cole slaw and baked beans were just meh. Of course, that is always what I have found at these places so I wasn’t disappointed or surprised. What was a surprise is how good their potato salad was! I’d say you must try the potato salad and skip the beans & slaw. Overall good food, good value. Even better since my dad reimbursed me the cost. :)

Ordered a large pork BBQ. The food came out and there was barely enough meat to cover the bun. The large sandwich is $ 2.99. They would do better to keep the meat portion the same but put it on a regular sized bun if they are trying to hit a certain price point. The meat tastes as if were cooked in an electric smoker. It did not have a hickory wood taste. My wife and daughter’s meat portion on their regular sandwiches were very skimpy as well, so it wasn’t just my sandwich. The back benches were very wobbly. We moved from the back booths because of this. I may try it again another time… might have been just an off day. I will post what I find the next time I eat there.

I’ve been working in Murfreesboro for about 3 years and I pass this place at least twice a day. I never had the chance to stop by and check it out, but recently i decided to stop and give it a shot. I’m actually pleased by the barbeque. I’ve been to lots of barbeque joints in my lifetime, even have relatives who had barbeque restaurants of their own and i have to say it hits the spot. Arrived at a slow period of the day which is around 3pm on a week day. I tried the stuffed baked potato and the second time around i tried the barbeque nachos. Very well pleased with both. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area who wants barbeque besides the usual spots like Whitts, Bar-B-Cutie, etc.

Rick’s Barbeque is similar to Whit’s Barbeque in quality, vinegar-based flavor, and selection. I went there today because I noticed their sign that said they offered Garden Salads and wanted to see what that was like. It was as tasty as what you would think paying $ 5 for a salad with pork barbeque would be. Nothing fancy. Rick’s Barbeque gets a deserving three stars from me because they were just okay. If I’m ever asked for a barbeque recommendation in the area, they would not be my first choice.

I attend a career college nearby and this place is a very good alternative to the fast food chains for a filling meal in a short amount of time. They have a varied menu and the fruit tea is awesome. The stuffed baked potato is a favorite of mine.
