Visited after a friend’s recommendation and was not disappointed. New places have been popping up all over town and I am not here that much so I’m falling behind but I didn’t miss this one.
The service has been mentioned in previous reviews but I will mention it again because it was fabulous. Personal, upbeat, not-​pushy, it was a great example of what customer service should look like. They had a nice selection of Italian ices and my Black Cherry was just sweet enough and had small pieces of black cherry in it. The Mango was fresh and smooth and when combined with vanilla soft serve made for a nice creamy dessert.
Sitting on their outdoor chairs on a warm late summer evening, Rita’s was the perfect end to our evening!
They are located in the strip mall anchored by Walgreens at the corner of Medical Center Pkwy and Thompson Ln.

More than just Italian ice… Try their frozen custard for a massive treat for your taste buds. Not only is the custard delicious, but it has a fantastic texture.
Where they get you is the toppings, which means that it is way too easy to put «too many» on, pick one or go commando.
The two servers behind the counter were very sweet– nearly as sweet as the frozen treats.
Give their Gelati a try which is an Italian ice with custard top and bottom. Just the ticket to cool your core on a hot day.
PS: we did NOT get «violently ill» after our visit.

This place was very nice & spacious. They also put lawn chairs outside. The line wasn’t very long, but only one person was working. It took forever to get my gelati. I got pear ice with chocolate ice cream. It tasted like chocolate covered pear slices. It was yummy. The lady behind the counter was very nice though, & the place was super clean. Overall, I would recommend this place if someone did want a Gelati or Italian Ice bc it’s the only place I know of with that stuff, but it’s rare that I’ll go there.

Love the ice!!! This stuff is addictive. We tend to get quarts and warm it to enjoy out of the freezer all week

Very good place for a quick, good treat that wont break the bank. I don’t understand the comments about how expensive it is. We took two adults, a teen, and two kids and spent $ 16. Not dirt cheap but any dessert place os not the place for dirt cheap. I think some people are confusing italian ice with discount icees from Thorntons :(the italian ice is slightly cheaper than other italian ice stands around mboro. The staff is always nice even when the kids (or adults) are indecisive and standing around discussing what they want forever and ever. I recommend it

Im not sure why this Rita’s has such a low ranking. I used to go to a Rita’s on the beach when I lived in Florida and I was really suprised when they put one here in Murfreesboro. Im glad they did, love this place. Italian ice and Kustard!

So let’s compare, shall we? You have Jeni’s in Nashville, and Unilocal doesn’t have enough star storage that place. So let’s call it a seven star. This is a 2 star custard place, but the gelati I had was unique and delish. Vanilla custard on bottom, mango ice in middle and vanilla on top. Mixed together and a treat I will return for.
And «got violently ill’? Are you a competitor or something? That’s a highly suspect review. Unique and in the Boro. Those don’t go in the same sentence often enough. I endorse! Just branch out and get some ice! Custard alone would be disappointing.

Aside from cost (which was way overpriced) I literally lost my lunch because I decided to try this for dessert. It made me violently ill shortly after eating it.

First and foremost the staff is very friendly. They even held an umbrella for us when we went to our car and it was raining!
They always smile and welcome us…
Rita’s Italian Ice is definitely by far the best refreshing treat none like any other.
My favorite is the Gelati — No thick chunks of ice like snow cones.
So many different flavors to choose from. So far they have all been outstanding.
We even got some Italian ice to go :-)
The Custard is to die for! It’s rich and creamy…
Our family is Happy we have Rita’s !
Easily 3 x’s a week… this week we will try the Misto’s!

This place is so good. I don’t know what these other people are talking about. Desserts aren’t cheap no matter where you go. I feel like the prices are extremely reasonable. I’ve been frequenting this place since it opened and I live in Nashville if that tells you anything. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and a great product. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Very disappointed with the cost. Makes Sweet Cici’s (which is overpriced) seem like the bargain of the century. Was on the verge of asking for my money back just out of principle. Can’t imagine this place getting any repeat business with the prices they charge.
