This review is for their milkshakes. My son and I wanted a chocolate/coffee flavored milkshake so the server suggested we have a chocolate shake made with espresso. It was perfect! Thanks for being creative in meeting our request. Skip the food. There are better choices in Murphy’s for a meal, but stop here for your ice cream urges.

Stopped for lunch on the way to the mountain. Delicious Portuguese potato and kale soup and burger. Family run. Good service. Highly recommend it.

Family stopped here for lunch on Wed 12⁄30. I had the Bleu Burger which was tasty. Just the right amount of cheese and the bun wasn’t too big Great service even with a packed restaurant.

This is a cute place in Murphys. We had lunch there and our waiter was a friendly guy. The food was decent. We ordered burgers, fries, and drinks. I noticed a mixed crowd at the place. Half of the people coming in wanted ice cream and the other half lunch. As I watched our waiter, he had to juggle taking care of his food tables and also scooping a good amount of ice cream. It seems like a lot of work for one employee during a somewhat busy time. He did the best he could. There was one other guy working and he was cooking the food. They need to rethink their strategy. They either need to hire another person or stop the food service. There’s just too much going on and you can see it affects the service. If we’re in the area again, I will give them a try again, maybe just for ice cream.

Brought my boys here for some burgers and they loved the food and thought the place was really cool. I love their look and the staff was very friendly. I am seriously confused by the negative reviews. We loved this place so much that we ended up going twice on this particular weekend and look forward to going back to try their desserts.

Very dissatisfied in the food and service at this restaurant. I ordered a western type burger with barbecue sauce and onion rings. Standard burger with cheese at most restaurants. The menu did not list cheese on the burger. I clarified with the waitress there was no cheese. She confirmed no cheese. The waitress read back our order and even said no cheese. I got my burger. And there was cheese. No big deal. It happens. I asked for my burger to be redone without cheese. The waitress took my burger back and brought out a «new» one. It was obvious they scraped the cheese off my burger and didn’t do a good job. Gobs of cheese everywhere. I asked for a new burger no cheese. She again tried to grab my plate and I said I was hungry and wanted to eat the fries. Please make me a new burger. They wouldn’t until I actually returned the first burger. What??? I told them to cancel my order if the couldn’t make a fresh one because I was grossed out with the lady touching my plate over and over. The waitress actually grabbed my burger off my plate with her hands before the cook would re make it. After that I waited a good 20 minutes while my family ate their food. The owner came over to tell me she was the owner and they were remaking the burger. No sorry… all very rude. Our waitress disappeared the rest of the meal. At the end she came out crying apologizing for the cheese. Did the cook and owner make this girl cry??? I felt bad, but I wanted the food the way I ordered it and that shouldn’t result in crying. The owner did not comp anything. They charge per can of soda. When I asked for another soda because my burger took so long and I had finished mine, they still had the nerve to charge. I asked if they would comp any of it… and she negotiated back and forth about the soda. The can of Soda that cost you 50 cents??? Then they had the nerve to say we hope you come back. The owner needs to realize they are in a customer service oriented business. And her customer service skills suck. My order was wrong. And there was very little attempt to righr it. I paid $ 40 for 3 people to eat and was extremely dissatisfied. I will never be back. Oh and our burgers were mediocre at best. Fell apart while trying to eat them. No kids burgers so I had to pay $ 10 for a kids burger. So many issues. Stay away from this place. Lots of close by options with better customer service.

My wife and I stopped here while we were in town and looking for somewhere to eat, I glad to say that we were not disappointed! I’ve been to the peppermint stick before but the menu, staff, and overall look has changed since then. I ordered the Gold Rush burger, which was suggested to me by our waitress. My wife ordered the Hawaiian burger. The burgers came with a side of fries and were almost too big to finish! I must say, they tasted very fresh and I could tell that it was real black angus. It was by far one of the best burgers I’ve had in years and it was worth the price. Our waitress was a young blonde girl who was very sweet and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and offered us ice cream when we were finished which we couldn’t pass up. My wife ordered a single scoop of esperesso chip which could pass for a double scoop. I ordered a single scoop of mint chip on a waffle cone and I almost couldn’t finish it. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for ice cream or comfort food in town. I was impressed

A family favorite! The staff is amazing, the food is super yummy and fresh, and the ice cream is superb! I love the décor and the history that envelops the restaurant. You must visit this place!

Hot day and after wine tasting we were craving some ice cream. A small for $ 3.50 should almost be a double scoop. The ice cream was all Breyer’s– can’t go wrong. Plenty of seating.

Went to do a little site seeking and hiking in tc. We should of looked up food places before went lost service. This place looked safe. We got a tuna melt and a chili dog. Less than impressed with both. They made two dogs orginally and had to make the tuna melt later so our fries and dog was cold. The service wasn’t the greatest and the place was just boring. Water was really unfiltered and tasted gritty.

This review is for their ice cream. Was visiting and a friend suggested we stop by her favorite parlor. I got a scoop of the espresso chip while my bf got the mint chip. The ice cream was creamy and good. It was perfect for the warm spring day.

I was in Murphy’s two days for a wedding. We were hungry for a snack before the wedding ceremony and dinner. We ordered a couple of orders of corn dogs. While we were waiting my nephew of two years old was getting a bit fussy. I walked him towards the ice cream area. The worker gave him a sample of ice cream. He started to point at the toppings(specifically for the gummy bears) and the worker gave him a cup of the gummy bears. That was very sweet of her. We returned the next day for some ice cream and I ordered some wine freeze. Delicious! I absolutely recommend the wine freeze. Later that day we returned for dinner. The worker remembered my nephew too. Most of my table ordered pulled pork or chicken sandwich. I had a chicken aloha burger. Wow! It had two chicken patties and two slices of pineapple. I have not a burger with double of everything. Very scrumptious! I will be returning to that specific place when I visit Murphy’s again. Great prices for amazing food.

This store is a restaurant /ice cream parlor along the main road. We ordered the fish and chips and a salad. The fries in the fish and chips were amazing, super crisp and tasty. The fish was a bit too fishy for me but it was decent(hence why I took off a star.) Not cheap — the burgers were $ 10 and up, but overall a good place to stop and eat.

Husband saw their sign advertising 12 different angus burgers, we shared the ultimate burger– beef patty, bacon, 2 cheeses, lettuce, tomato & red onion. It was quite good, thick patty that tasted grilled, good bacon, fresh veggies. Burger came with a pile of crispy fries, we split it and it was plenty.

What an interesting place … They mostly serve Dreyer’s brand ice cream. You can get shakes, sundaes, or regular scoops. The place itself looks a bit run down, but not in a good, cutesey, oldie timey kinda way. Ice cream wasn’t bad, but the service was what a bit rude IMO): I had hoped they would be a little bit nicer with the cute store front and name. Haha. Seems like a good place to take the kids if you’re stopping through town for a quick treat. Otherwise, don’t expect too much.

We came here after leaving camp connell. We had a hankerin for ice cream and heard that this place was on our way home. It is nestled in Historic Murphys, CA. We did not have the awful experience that I have read about here. There were 3 employees behind the counter and all were more than willing to wait on us. They were pleasant and clean, accommodating and prompt. We got a chocolate shake, Dark Cherry vanilla shake and a junior sundae. It was a little pricey but we excepted that in a mountain town that specializes in fine wine tours. No surprises in quality we enjoyed our shakes. They had great flavour. Our daughter got a portion that was actually a little to large for her to eat and daddy had to finish, So I say if you are in the area and you have a hanckerin for a shake. Give these guys a try

The Peppermint Stick is like one of those old-timey ice cream shops you always see in 50s-era movies(think Back to the Future). Lots of Coca-cola memorabilia lines the walls, and they even have a vintage sign from when they first opened shop! The ice cream is just your typical Dreyer’s, but hey, Dreyer’s makes some darn good ice cream.

Great little spot for a cone and maybe an easy bite to eat before you enjoy your ice cream. We were at the tasting room next door and needed to feed the kids, and as it ended up everyone got fed at The Peppermint Stick. Definitely not fancy, but a cute little place and the food was just fine: kids had grilled cheese and fruit, adults chose hot dogs/polish dogs for a quick bite. The dogs were huge and loaded with toppings, so all of us were happy customers. I agree with some of the other reviews that say it is nice to have a casual place on Main street to grab a quick bite, and a family-run place like this fits the bill nicely. Besides, who can resist a peppermint-oreo-cookie-milkshake?

Surprisingly decent food given that this seems to be more of an ice cream parlor. The one downside to Murphys is the lack of casual and family friendly places to have dinner. This was one of the more casual places in town. It had a more varied menu than expected including a portabello mushroom burger and a salmon burger. My husband and I decided to split the burger(we had eaten earlier, but there was a snafu with my husband’s food and he was still hungry). The kids figured out it was an ice cream place and shared a huge ice cream cone. Prices were a little high, but not unreasonable for an Alaskan salmon burger. The burger was good too. Not amazing, but fine. Only downside was we forgot to leave the mayonnaise off and it had way too much of that. Kids loved the ice cream and the service was friendly.
