Their Kalbi isn’t really Rib meat, even thought they bring it out on the tray with the bones. The meat is actually a flat iron cut. At least that’s what my group of 5 got last night. We ordered two servings of non marinated and that meat was kind of tough and tasted exactly like a flat iron steak. and 3 servings of marinated kalbi the first 2 servings were more tender than the last 1 serving. We ordered the cold noodles with broth, the broth was so so, but the noodles were good nice and chewy.

My FAVORITE k-bbq place! the pork belly, the kalbi, all the meat is soo good! And they have a happy hour special that includes a stew, a portion of meat and alcohol for an amazing price(I don’t remember the exact price but it was really good considering the quality of the meat and food). Service was great, and although the location is a little off to the side, it is definitely worth it! Love love love this place:)

Came for the kalbi but i felt that the kalbi here has much less than other restaurants but it tastes so good! On top of that it makes you full unlike other restaurants. The service here is good! I believe the owner(?) checked up on us and refilled dishes herself. Theyre lacking on the side dishes but the kalbi makes up for it.

Went there for the first time on Christmas night. Waited for about 5 minutes for our table and got seated pretty quickly. We already knew what we were going to order so we ordered and the ban chan came out right away. We ordered one serving of marinated kalbi and one serving of the regular one without anything on it and we personally liked the one without the marinating. If you have been to mapo, it is exactly the same thing… Like exactly the same besides the corn dish lol. Overall everything was good. Wished the portions were bigger but it kept us full and the service wasn’t bad!

Well, I am afraid that this review might be unfair one as I am giving this spot 5 stars only depending on their food. I strongly believe that good restaurant is made up by lots of elements such as environment and services, yet food should be always comes first. This is one of tastiest Korean BBQ restaurant that I have been to. This is hidden jam K-BBQ spot in Queens. I heard that owner/Chef of this spot was the head chef at famous Mapo BBQ for long time and he decided to use very good quality meat with very tasty sauce that he learned from Mapo BBQ. Mapo is good too but I didn’t like their cheap quality of meat. I can say that BBQ is marvelous! If you are meat lover, BBQ lover, love Korean BBQ, you are definitely going to love this place. They use charcoal grill which isn’t common in Manhattan. I tried them many times and I prefer marinated one better than regular one. It could be only my preference thou. $ 35 per person wouldn’t be cheap price but all the side dish they gives to you could be worth the money. Their side dishes are great too. They give you one Jji-Gae(stew) if you order 2+ BBQ.(And you can ask for more if you want more, I meant for all side dishes.) This spot wouldn’t be the spot for people who — Can’t stand place crowded with Korean people — I must say their environment is not fancy at all. It is totally traditional Korean place. — Can’t stand wait staff speak not good English — I think they try very hard thou;) — Planning a romantic date: go away

Came here a couple of times and both time we enjoyed our food and the experience very much. Both times I came here for lunch and they have great lunch specials. I’ve tried their bibimbap, bibimmyun and this fish soup, and all were pretty good. And their side dishes are delicious and fresh as well. The only thing we didn’t like very much was the seafood pancake, which should be more crispy but it was just soggy Overall a good place. Clean, cheap and fresh food and service is always quick and friendly

If you want to pay $ 35 for a serving of skirt steak and not kalbi, you can go here. The restaurant is trying to cut costs by serving skirt steak instead of kalbi and labeling it as kalbi. Isn’t it a bit suspicious that their kalbi isn’t attached to the bone?

I had a pretty negative experience, but I might have been biased because I was definitely hangry lol I was starving and didn’t understand why it took so long for them to take our order and bring us side dishes when it wasn’t busy and workers were just standing around.

LOVE this place. A little off the beaten path but with valet parking and more korean BBQ restaurants available east bound, we find parking isn’t an issue. We went there for the first time last year when my in laws were visiting from BC and they just RAVED about the place. Went back early in the evening last Saturday and I’m just aghast at how empty it is compared to other BBQ joints on Northern that doesn’t hold a candle to this place. Hubs and I are always on the search for good Korean BBQ. My parents always want to go to the nearest BBQ place to their place which works for them cuz they can burn off the calories on the walk home but for quality, this place is it! We LOVE the BBQ here, perfectly marinated and they even cut off the bits of char on the meat(though I love those bits!) Their cold noodle dish is meh but free service items more than makes up for it. Service is always on point and they are friendly to non-Asians. Hubs is always sensitive about this one. One of our favorite go to spots — also doesn’t hurt that they are walking distance to Leisures –cheapest liquor store in Queens!

The korean restaurant with the best service that I have ever been to. A bit on the pricey side but the taste and service make up for it!

This place is clean and well kept but portions were small, banchan not that great, and service was spotty. Pretty expensive at $ 33pp for galbi. The jigaes here were really good. I’d probably come here if I don’t want to deal with the lines at other galbi places.

This place is simply top-notch in terms of food quality, from the main entrees, to the BBQ, to just about all the side-dishes! BBQ — the kalbi here is simply amazing — thick, juicy, well-seasoned, very, very delicious. If you order kalbi, they will serve a complementary seafood pancake(pajun). Seafood/Pork with Rice — phenomenal, very well done and delicious. Lots of food! Side Dishes — they serve a TON of sides! And most, if not all, are very delicious. My wife & I have been coming here regularly since they opened about a year and a half ago, and we have been introducing many friends and family here as well — and they all love it! And regularly bring their own friends & family afterwards as well. We regularly eat at *many* authentic korean restaurants in Flushing, Auburndale, Flushing, and this is definitely the best korean restaurant around here — it’s really, really hard to find another comparable in quality(we haven’t yet).

I came here with a friend for Korean Restaurant Week. We were promptly sat and we asked for the restaurant week menu. They were initially confused(I guess it was their first time doing this), but after awhile we finally placed our order. Within the first 5 minutes, we were bombarded with a dozen kimchi dishes. My friend and I really weren’t expecting that many. There were two we loved: a pumpkin dish and a creamed corn-like dish. Sorry, I don’t know what they’re called, but maybe my Korean friends can enlighten me. Seafood pancake = delicious. The quality of the bulgogi and pork belly here is much better than what you would get at an AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant. We also had the squid bibimbap, but by the time that came out, we were already stuffed! Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our experience here. FYI coming here with someone who speaks Korean makes ordering food much easier.

Word was in town that chef from mapo bbq opened up his own restaurant on 162nd st. so my mom and I went there to try it few months ago and we’ve been coming here ever since. I used to say if you want best korean bbq in town go to mapo but now, I tell people to go to myung poom bbq. Kalbi is thick cut and marinated just right. I always go here for family gathering.

So, my dad told me that the former cook of Mapo Kalbi has jumped ship and set up shop next to «that bar that has the fire chicken»(AKA ZuRang) and he insisted when you like the taste of the food at a restaurant and the cook leaves, you must follow. I don’t know… Mapo is pretty amazing… Purely for research purposes of course, A and I went back to Mapo to test if the quality has changed since he left. It hasn’t(yay!) and I reported back to my dad. He’s a fan of Myung Poom so he declared he’ll buy the whole family(and A) kalbi dinner, all we can eat. WINNER! The week after, the five of us went. The space at Myung Poom is HUGE. That alone might make this place the better option seeing as how there is always a wait at Mapo(unfortunately that didn’t change with the change of cook either). At Myung Poom, at 7 pm on a Saturday night, a group of 5 didn’t have to wait at all. We were promptly seated, ordered 5 orders of kalbi and 2 bottles of soju(we don’t play) and got our appetites ready for yummy BBQ goodness.(At the end of the night, that tally went up to 6 orders of kalbi and 5 bottles of soju.) All in all, I would say the two places are pretty comparable. Myung Poom’s marinated kalbi is served as big thick slabs as Mapo is(which is what distinguished Mapo from the other Korean BBQ places in the first place) and the side dishes are the same/similar. You get the grilled corn on the hot plate, the steamed eggs, the bowl of bean paste stew. A thought the marinade was sweeter here and my mom thought it was blander. I dunno, either my palate isn’t as sensitive as theirs or I was just too busy inhaling all the food(it had been a long day of work with no time for breakfast or lunch), but I thought the two places were pretty similar at the end of the day. Which means they’re both awesome! Win win for all. Actually. They gave us a seafood pancake on the house and it was really good — crispy and chewy and flaky — and I’ve never gotten that at Mapo, so one point for Myung Poom… but then again, I’ve never gone to Mapo with 5 people before for fear of having to wait an hour outside, so I can’t really judge. Just go to either or; you can’t go wrong either way. ^^

I was torn between 2 and 3 stars, but decided to go with 3. Once again, my brother told me this place was highly recommended and that this place would make me forget LA and Korea Korean food. I told myself, do I fall for this again? He said Woorijip wasn’t that bad, I tried it, followed by my brother laughing at me and saying«sucka~~». Not sure if I trust him regarding Korean food after this. Ok, so this place, positives, side dishes are pretty good and the service was excellent. So the meat seemed fairly ok, but nothing spectacular except, it was 3 in the afternoon… we waited 30 – 40 minutes for chadolbaegi to be sliced and brought to us. Really no explanation on what was going on until we inquired about the status. But server’s service saved some face. Now to the bad part. Haemulpajun… oh my freaking god. seriously… 4 pieces of scallions and what appears to be shrimp fetuses… don’t count as seafood. This probably was the worst one I’ve ever tasted. Then to cold noodles… I really rarely don’t finish food… but nangmyun really… called for this to happen. the noodles, not impressive and massively undercooked, as if i was just eating the pre-packaged ones right out of package. also the beef broth(yuk soo), why is it white? it’s not supposed to be marrow soup-ish(sagol). anyways, 3 stars because you know… i liked out server and side dishes. i give my brother 1 star for his… i don’t know… CRIME against my taste buds.

I came here for Mother’s day on my mom’s suggestion. I was a little annoyed at her decision to go off the beaten path but boy did was she right. Mom’s are always right, but doubly so on Mother’s day, I guess. It’s a shame that this place doesn’t get more recognition as it is on a street that is not restaurant friendly as it is not close to the subway or malls(thus eliminating alot of foot traffic) and only has street parking. The one thing that I saw that was different about their Galbi(come on why order anything else?) was that it get’s marinated and cooked as a large boneless slab. I was incredulous, as I always figured having the bone in up until the last minute and having it cut into thin strips to allow the marinade seep all the way in was the best way to go. I was dead wrong. The beef was extremely tasty and tender. They are also one of the few korean restaurants that give you perilla leaves along with lettuce for your wraps, which was definitely welcomed. Yes, it was pricey, but based on all the banchan and service dishes(and service) I got, I was more than satisfied. I refuse to go anywhere else for Galbi now.

I used to say best BBQ in Flushing was a place on union street. Now I don’t have to go to crazy hectic main street area for best Korean BBQ in Flushing! Cut of Kalbi meat is higher quality than other places I’ve tried. I’ve been eating Korean BBQ all my life so I should know when quality of meat is superior. Cut of Kalbi is thicker too and yet it’s so soft it’s still really yummy. I thought Kalbi was on the pricier side. Was it worth it? Yes.

I do not usually eat out for Korean food but I have to say this restaurant is spot on. The owner/chef used to be the chef for Mapo which is in the korean food strip of flushing. He decided to set up his own place and I must say it was a wise decision. The galbi is marinated just right and all the banchan is always fresh and delish. This has become my to go Korean bbq joint in flushing.
