Marshalls

Worst Marshalls ever. The store is tiny and the selection scant. Typically, you will have dozens of every conceivable item and size to browse through, and will come out with at least 2 – 3 excellent finds. This place felt like coming across the sun-​scorched remains of a groundhog in the desert, long picked over by every imaginable critter big and small. Save the time, skip this store.

The thrill of the hunt always keeps me going back to Marshalls. This new location is pretty well stocked but the store can become a bit of a mess very quickly, especially on busy weekends. Worth a stop in if you are in the area. Checkout is usually quick and painless too. Expect the same brands and merchandise you’d find at TJ Maxx and Ross but in a better lit, better organized environment.

I’m really struggling to get myself worked up enough to talk about this place. Having never been into a Marshalls before, I guess I didn’t know what to expect. And that’s the thing – I don’t think Marshalls knows what to expect of themselves.
Think about a Burlington Coat Factory, Ross Dress For Less, and TJ Maxx all getting together to have a baby. Only two of them would be the parents, and the poor child would suffer from an identity crisis its entire life. That baby is Marshalls, who can’t decide if it’s a clearance rack kind of place, a new, first-​run fashion knockoff, a discount store, or a department store. It ends up not being very good at any of them.
Sure, there are some nice-​ish clothes. But it’s so poorly organized, I’m not sure you’ll find them. And yes, there are some long-​ish racks of stuff to thumb through. But it hardly feels worth it.
At the end of it all, I wasn’t too impressed. The good news is, you can’t really expect too much. So it does the job. Cheap-​ish (though not massively bargained) clothes in Murray.

Convenient. Inexpensive. Polite. Well, convenient if you happen to live in the Midvale/​Murray area.
