I was expecting overpriced groceries since I was in Myrtle Beach but I was pleasantly surprised by Food Lion. The prices are comparable to what you’d expect at a normal grocery store. The store is fairly small but has a wide selection of items including some water toys and other things that will benefit a Myrtle Beach vacationer. This is a great place to stock up on groceries while in town.

Stopped in for a quick visit on a Wednesday evening to replenish a few vacation supplies — not a full trip, so my viewpoint may be skewed. This small store may be dwarfed by the Bi-Lo but it seems well-stocked and makes good use of its relatively tiny footprint. The produce section is solid, with plenty of nice-looking choices(for midweek — not sure how decimated it may look after the weekend rush!) unlike the Piggly Wiggly. I was happily surprised by the small section of organic packaged food options, including Annie’s brand products and Maranatha creamy peanut butter(one of the only brands my ultra picky toddler will eat!). The yogurt section is extremely small & limited and, like Bi-Lo, doesn’t carry any organic options for adults or kids(Is Stonyfield Farms YoBaby and YoToddler only available in the Northeast??). The wine section was ¼ the size of Bi-Lo’s but had almost as much variety and many chilled choices. Sadly, European options, including Vinho Verde are limited and even impossible to come by no matter which store you choose. But people down here must love Moscato — it seems to take up a hefty percentage of the limited shelf space. The beer selection looked pretty decent, too. Not a ton of microbrews but all the major contenders are represented. Overall, this store fit the bill for my needs — if I’m ever back in MB, I’ll definitely visit again.

Love some Food Lion while on vacay!!! The Food Lion was about a mile from the Marriott Villas we were staying at on vacation and we wanted to get food and alcohol to save some money of course ;) Very good prices(but I think that goes for groceries overall in SC)! For about $ 60 we got enough food(and some beer) to make most of our meals from Thursday-Sunday. Don’t forget to get your Food Lion saver card to get extra discount on groceries! Store is very well kept and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful!!!

Living in New York City, I’ve grown accustomed to very small markets. I recently visited Myrtle Beach for a few days. Saw this market and just had to go in. It was huge! I found it quite pleasant and well-stocked. I love visiting markets wherever I travel. It’s always fun to see local brands and flavors. The staff was friendly. Quite honestly, everyone that I bumped into down there was friendly!

The hotel where we were staying actually had a kitchen, so I made a run to Food Lion to pick up some groceries. Turns out that this location was just down the street, very conveniently located, well stocked, and the staff was friendly too. Sweet. They even had some good specials on the food we needed. In fact, their specials might have been too good — we ended up with way too much food. So much that we had to eat more than we needed. At least, that’s the way I see it, and I’m sticking to my story.
