Papa’s Restaurant

All the talked that The Breakers Resort hyped up… Papa’s did not measure up to the hype! I was all excited because I am a pancake lover and I could immediately tell that they weren’t going to be good… They were thick, dry and tasted like flour… didn’t taste like pancakes at all! The sausage was nasty as well and the bacon had no taste! Won’t ever go there again!

I took a look at the buffet and decided to order breakfast off the menu instead. My veggie omlete came out hot and fresh as did my delicious fruit cup and hash browns (which were hot with just the right amount of crunch)
It was nothing fancy but it wasn’t greasy and was the perfect start to my day!

The food was good. I love the variety that the south is known for. We don’t have restaurants like this in New York. I had Spanish rice, egg and cheese quiche, fresh made waffles and bacon for breakfast wow! for $ 10 and I didn’t have to wait!
Although, it’s not the healthiest breakfast you can find. Who wants healthy when you’re on vacation?

Good breakfast buffet. Service was prompt and the staff did a good job keeping it stocked. It was clean, good food, and convenient. We ate there 3 times and had good consistent service every time.

Lots of variety for the breakfast buffet, however, the food is of the lowest quality. I’m talking bottom of the barrel — from the eggs made from powder to the «fresh» canned fruit cocktail. If you don’t mind swimming in grease to start off your day, This is the place for you.

Have to give this one negative stars. Not only was the food terrible, everything was bland and chemically tasting even the fruit but the friendly service never seemed to be around when you needed something. To top it off I was modestly nursing my infant and was asked to cover her head or move to the back room. Wow. Backward. We are now 10 minutes after the meal and we all have stomach aches and are trading turns in the bathroom. Bad does not describe this restaurant!

Papa’s is part of The Breakers resort complex. Named for Ernest «Papa» Hemmingway
inside is decorated like your eating with a island plantation owner. Old fishing rods and reels and island murals and palm trees adorn the walls.

We had breakfast here each morning as part of our room package.
A very large, above average buffet, with everything breakfast and a special feature each morning, such as Monday they had fajita fixin’s and I made myself a fajita omlet, YUM! They also have a fruit bar, waffle maker, bagles, ect. and if you don’t want the scrambled eggs on the buffet, they will fix your eggs to order or make you an omlet. Some great seasoned home fries and corned beef hash too. Plus Friday featured my favorite, country ham!
Service was friendly and very attentive. Stacey was fantastic and we asked to be seated in her section each morning. She would go out of her way to get you anything you wanted and would take time to stop and chat with you as well. Coffee cups never got more than half empty before refills arrived and plates were cleared promptly. She also thanked us each day when we left. Her service was so good I wanted to leave her an extra large tip and I did!
I hope Stacey is there when we go back.

I don’t often rave about a restaurant like this, but the food and service earn this place the five stars and then some!

I’m visiting from Chicago and very picky. Ate there this morning on my way to the airport. We chose the $ 8.95 buffet. Fruit, eggs, potatoes, grits and waffles were excellent! I ate so much, I couldn’t even drink my orange juice which was included! Service was fast! Place is very clean!
