The sign said martinis $ 5. The first thing I asked the waitress when she came to our table was” Are the martinis $ 5 now or is that tonight” She said, yes they are $ 5 now. I ordered one and when we got our bill it was $ 9. When I questioned her about it, she said it was only the rail ones! WHYDIDNTSHETELLMETHATWHEN I ORDERED! I ordered a rockfish BLT for my meal– THEYFORGOTTHEBACON! REALLY!!!

There must be a New chef at this long standing local spot in OBX. Had brisket nachos for appetizer which was a meal in itself. Entrée of shepherds pie was great but the star was the side of succotash… yes, succotash, in a light tomato sauce it was so good! If you’ve been here before and thought it was ok/average you gotta come back. It’s worth it.

Stopped in on an off-season outing with the family. Enjoyed some great food with reasonable service. Started with the fresh oysters and the seared tuna– they were great, For dinner, we had the scallops– incredible, fried oysters, plump and delicious, and burgers for the kids– very nice burgers indeed with really good fries. The shrimp were the only down side– just slightly over-cooked– but still tasty. Portions were huge– way more than we could eat… I ended up with shrimp for breakfast the next day. Absolutely someplace we will come back to next time we are down this way.

Awesome restaurant! My wife and I went to Mulligan’s for the first time on January 16, 2016. The burgers were some of the best I have ever had and the prices we very reasonable. Also, they do have a small selection of local craft beer. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed,

It is off season so the selection of available restaurants is limited. Decided to stop in for an early dinner. We started off with drinks, I’m the DD so I decided on a water & soda, hubby ordered the only Stout available on a pretty limited beer menu, mostly domestic brews. Ordered a dozen oysters too as an appetizer. Waitress was quick to come back & apologize for being out of Stout. Beverages came fairly quickly, oysters once the waitress asked if they had come yet were cold(delivered after we had been seated 20 mins, 5 mins ahead of our entrees). Oysters Appeared to have sat waiting to b delivered, still fairly tastes! Our entrees, I ordered the Rockfish BLT sandwich w\cajun tartar sauce, delicious served on a ciabatta roll(perfect!). The fish was blackened and delivered hot & fresh! Served with fries, a bit soft and just warm. Hubby ordered the crab-cake sandwich w/the Cajun tartar sauce too, a little spicy for him but really good! His fries were also not hot, but the huge crab-cake sandwich was the main event. Our only suggestion was the bun the crab-cake was served on was too delicate for such an impressive cake; once u add the lettuce & tomato the bread was fairly useless. I would recommend serving on a crusty kaiser roll or the same Ciabatta roll used with the Rockfish sandwich. Good eatings here though! Look forward to using the bar deck when weather turns for the warmer!

I really wanted to like Mulligan’s. My experience wasn’t good, but it also wasn’t terrible. I wouldn’t choose to return if something else was offered, but I wouldn’t put up a fight to not have to go either. We sat at the upstairs bar and it took at least 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge our existence. We were the only ones at the actual bar, but there was a table of about 7 women at the large table to the left of the bar. The bar tender was VERY distracted by the ladies. Mid conversation with us about what we wanted he walked away and began talking to them. When he returned and asked what we wanted we asked what frozen margarita flavors were available and when he didn’t answer we asked again. He again did not respond, but walked back to the table and carried on a conversation about the area with the women. When he came back again we were able ask and he stated they only had strawberry or peach. No lime? So I got peach. It was pretty good, rather watery actually. The ice was very liquidy in places or very large in other places. He held my father’s drink hostage in his hand while he rang in the 7 separate orders for the other table. When he finally brought my dad’s drink over you could see where the ice had begun to melt and water down the drink. The appetizer’s we got were pretty good, the pimento cheese dip was delicious. Unfortunately the chips we were served with it were awfully stale. I might would be willing to give it another go and just not sit at the bar that this particular bartender was serving.

A good choice for families or those looking to get a break from the beach. Standard beach fare with something on menu for everyone. Had the fish tacos and tostadas and both were good. It’s not a restaurant to go out of your way for but if you are near by-stop by after your day’s activities.

We have been frequenting Mulligans since 1990 or there abouts. I love this place. It is always busy, and Gus will come hang with you a while, if he is not too busy. The food here is like a Timex. Good every time you go there. Try the lettuce wraps! They are so messy, but so tasty. The wings are crispy and served piping hot. The burgers are totally worth the trip, and their onion rings are the best on the beach. The coconut shrimp is also pretty terrific! We have always had polite staff. From bartenders to hostesses, they’ve all been professional and helpful, even when they are slammed! All in all, if you are hungry and in Nags Head, please consider Mulligans. BTW, they make the best Long Island Ice Tea in the whole entire world!!!

Called in for a late lunch today. We are awarding the stars for the hospitality shown. The owner made a special effort to ensure that U.S. As well as our two dogs had a comfortable place to enjoy our meal. Service was courteous and attentive. Food was hearty and da raft list covered the bases.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Redskins game. We researched online and found this was a designated Redskins bar, we couldn’t have been more excited! We walked in and found the little room in the back that is the bar area(for the entire restaurant too). It was definitely A LOT smaller then what it looks like in the pictures. Seating around the bar is for about 10 people. Then there are 3 other small tables that fit 3 – 4 people. So, very limited seating. But, since it was mid-October the place wasn’t packed, every seat was taken though.(The actual restaurant is decent sized but we did not dine in there). We started with the pulled pork nachos and I got the NE style clam chowder. For a group of 4 the nachos were a great size, lots of pork meat and toppings. Although we all agreed we wished it came with a creamy queso sauce instead of pre-packaged shredded cheddar cheese that once it cooled off became quite hard. The clam chowder was great, lots of clam meat and veggies! We then got 3lbs of the snow crab legs($ 19 a lb), a side of house fries and hush puppies. For a group of 4 this was the perfect amount. The fries and hush puppies were excellent! Both were piping hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The crab legs were delicious! The meat was so sweet and obviously crazy fresh, best I’ve had in a long time! If you sit in the bar area you do not have a waitress so we kept having to go up to the bartender to order drinks and food, it wasn’t far(like 2 feet) but with the room being full and noise level I felt like I had to yell at him from across the bar. There was one older waitress who was pretty rude when trying to get her drinks, not asking people to move but more«move out of my way» «step to the right» etc. I understand people were blocking her but in such a tight room patience goes a long way. She also bumped into my husband didn’t even turn around to apologize, and he was not in anyone’s way, just sitting next to our table. Would come back to watch a Redskins game and enjoy some good bar food, but not go out of my way if football wasn’t on. It was 20 minutes from where we were staying and we passed 3 – 4 other sports bars along the way.

Came here because the popular blue moon café was an hour wait. Came to mulligans and got seated instantly. Took a while for a server to come by and greet us. My boyfriend and I ordered a dozen raw oysters, the Cali fish tacos, teriyaki BBQ fried frog legs and we finished our meal with lave cake. I eat oysters often they were delicious. If you enjoy eating oysters, you won’t be disappointed! The fish tacos were average. The fish tasted really fresh, but there wasn’t anything about the taco was amazing. The nice thing about the taco was it was nice thick pieces of fish and not fried breadcrumbs. The most disappointing part of the meal was the lava cake! The server came up and said«sorry the ice cream is all melted». And the ice was all melted, the lava cake didn’t have that molten chocolate center, however the cake was really moist. Saving the best part for last we’re the frog legs! The sauce that the legs were tossed in was sweet and tangy and didn’t overpower the taste of the frog legs.

Long story short: Great food, but cramped digs. If you’re looking for a terrific menu, great local seafood and wonderful drinks, Mulligan’s is a good place. Part of the charm of this restaurant is the division of dining space into small«rooms,» both upstairs and downstairs. But the charm comes at a price: The servers rushing from place to place(including up and down the stairs) can make it seem like eating in the middle of Grand Central Station, at rush hour. And the smaller dining spaces intensify noise, instead of muting it. That said, I should mention that we had some of the BEST oysters on the half shell here, and that’s one of our culinary objectives, when we visit NC. Their drinks are also nicely made and generous, and I particularly enjoyed their Bloody Mary. So enjoy Mulligan’s, but try to go at an off hour, when it’s not so crowded and noisy.

I found the food at Mulligan’s to be somewhat overpriced, and the quality to be poor. Our waitress was friendly, and attentive, but given the terrible meal we had there this is not enough to recommend the place. My husband and I started with the White Wine Mussels– which were very overcooked, rendering them tough, and also chalky(it should be tough to get that combination). They were improperly cleaned and still had grit in them. We ordered the Fried Seafood Platter with a side of Fries, and a side of Beans. The Beans were stone cold, and completely lacking salt. The salt we could add at the table but if I were going to microwave my own beans I would do that at home, for much cheaper, thanks very much. The Fish was very well fried, as were the Shrimps. Our shrimps still had their poopchutes in though, which was disappointing. Again– if I have to clean the seafood myself I wouldn’t be coming to a restaurant. When our waitress brought us our third drink– drinking was the only way to combat this terrible place– she did so in a plastic cup, because apparently this joint, with its several tables and busting kitchen was just out of clean glasses. When you’re charging 6 dollars for a drink there had better be a glass involved. Was quite a waste of money in a town filled with nice places to eat that manage to find glasses, use their microwaves, clean their seafood, and not overcook it. Never coming back.

My party of 6 visited Mulligan’s last Sunday on our way out of town. I can’t speak for everyone, but my wife and I had a unpleasant experience and we will definitely not be returning the next time we are in the OBX. First off, when we walked in, we were greeted by an older hispanic lady that was quite unfriendly and the opposite of helpful. We asked if there was seating upstairs for 6 and she said, «go look for yourself» and then walked off. Wow, talk about carrying yourself with class… My party went upstairs and found a table that was perfect. The upstairs bar tender was very nice and she helped us get situated with menus and drinks. The bartender/waitress is the only reason this review gets 2 stars, she worked her butt off and did it with a smile. My wife and I ordered the peppercorn seared tuna and a couple of drinks off the brunch menu. When the seared tuna arrived, we both thought that the portion size was incredibly small(see picture). There were only a few very small slices and the tuna itself was overly fishy smelling and tasting. The tuna was so nasty, it was truly hard to swallow. Others at our table ordered the Calamari and it looked pretty good. We definitely wished that we had ordered something different. For the main entrees, my wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and I ordered a Mushroom Cheeseburger. The bread on my burger was old and fell apart as I picked it up for the first bite, and the burger was very dry as well. My wife enjoyed her Eggs Benedict, but said she wouldn’t order them again because they were so small. Before leaving, I wanted to make a quick trip to the restroom and I found that it was not very clean and there was no TP available. I had to find a waitress and ask for TP(which was sorta embarrassing) but whatever, we all shit. Long story short, this place really sucked. I am sure that plenty of other people have been before and had a great experience, but we certainly did not.

Listen… I was at the beach… I was a little drunk… and I just really wanted some crab legs. Drove by Mulligan’s and was drawn in by the pretty twinkly lights adorning the outdoor deck. Decided to sit outside and was pleasantly surprised by some live music(he was actually really good from what I remember) & an abundance of fun drink choices. Our party sampled the orange crush, lemon crush, grapefruit crush(all da crushes), the grapefruit mimosa, and some other boringish drink that I can’t remember. They were boozy and delish. No complaints here. We also got: –Crab pretzel(amazeballs) –Scallops with mashed potatoes, zuchinni, hushpuppies and mac n cheese(amazeballs) –Snow crab legs(AMAZEBALLS) –Crab cake sammy(decent) Great atmosphere for drunken beachy sing-a-long foodfesting.

Mulligans was a pretty good place. I could have done without our server, she didn’t seem to really want to be there. The food was delicious. We started off with fried calamari, which was fried to perfection. The breading was nicely seasoned and not too clumpy. The calamari wasn’t chewy either. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes. I ate the fish tacos. I was not expecting them to be as big as they were. My friend who had the Fish Trio said she liked it and the shellfish were fresh and not fishy. I would definitely recommend this place to other people.

The 411: this is a cool place to get a drink and some food if you’re coming from the beach You can see the ocean and the sand dunes if you’re upstairs and outside in the dining areas. I’ve only eaten oysters on the half shell there, which comes on a bed of ice with a small lemon wedge and some horseradish. The oysters were fresh and not terribly expensive. A dozen oysters and a sweet tea costs about $ 14. I’ve read mixed reviews of this place but what I had was nice. Bottom line: don’t come here expecting something spectacular. It’s a tourist raw bar not far from the beach. It’s good, but I wouldn’t venture too far into the menu

My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch. I loved how they even had doggy dining outside for those dog owners craving some food at the beach. There was indoor seating and outdoor seating on the decks on the second floor. We chose to sit on the deck on the side facing Jockey’s Ridge. For lunch, we ordered a rack of a dozen raw oysters. Side note: this was my first time having raw oysters, and I loved it. The oysters came with marinara sauce and horse radish. I must say, a great view of the ocean and sand dunes, yummy oysters, and great company; a girl could not ask for more.
