Bicycles Etc is your stereotypical bike shop. It hurts me to say it but you are better off shopping online than visiting this shop. I’ve worked in the cycling industry for a long time and even trained bike staffs on customer service. The guys at this shop, and I hope there are exceptions, are always bothered to come out from behind the service counter to help someone find an accessory or even sell a bike. I go back from time to time and am always disappointed and want to leave. They have so many great bikes and if they had an equally as great of a staff they’d be unstoppable. Is see that there are a few good reviews, which is great to see, but they really need to work on their customer service. In today’s, buy everything online, customer service is critical to survive. I cannot attest to their shop service because I’ve never gotten that far with them but I hope they do a good job. They have been around for years so they must be doing something right but then again maybe customers are not sure where else to go. There are plenty of stellar bike shops in the area so you have a choice. I hope they can turn around their egos and get excited about helping all types of people find cool bikes that they’ll love.

We went to this store to buy our son a bike in January. We were awed by the number of bikes. Told our son to hop on the one he liked and give it a spin. Only to get told by the the staff that our son could not test ride the bikes in the store(seriously, what bike store has a flooring that isn’t appropriate for bike riding). I asked where can he test ride it then and he said«on a dry day we do rides outside». Well there is snow in the grass but the sidewalk is clear so I said«what do you do on days like today?» And he said we just couldn’t test ride any bikes. Are you kidding me?!? A bike store where you can’t test ride a bike? What a letdown. We won’t be trying this place again nor the one in Lisle because this left success a bad taste in our mouth. I wouldn’t go here again.

I would give this shop no stars but not sure how to do that. They man have cool bikes for kids but customer service sucks. They wanted 500 for haro my son liked. Guy freaked out about a test ride! I will spent my cash some where else. Sorry lisle store but Naperville set a bad first impression!

Absolutely great service. I bought a Raleigh hybrid bike from these guys and though I forgot his name, the man who helped me was very easy going, helpful, and knowledgeable. The best part of my experience was the honesty! I didn’t feel any pressure on which bike to choose. Though one was much more expensive than the other. They have a great variety of new bikes, any kind you want! I tested out a couple bikes in the back of the shop, which has plenty of room and a long driveway for testing speed and a few speed bumps to try out the suspension. Great shop! Thanks guys. I will be back.

Great service! Very professional, knowledgeable folks at Bicycles, etc. I’ve been going there for three years and have been very pleased. Unlike a large independent bike store in the western suburbs, these guys are honest to a fault. They won’t try to upsell you or oversell you. I’ve given them every opportunity. I asked them this weekend if I should upgrade my bike. They asked«Why?». I said«I wanted to be faster.» They looked at my bike. They said, «It’s not the bike.» Gotta like these guys for their honesty!

If you are looking to buy quality bikes and accessories(e.g.helmet, bell, light, adult biking shoes, etc), this place(Naperville) has a nice selection. However, if you are looking for clothing, Sport Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods or REI may be a better option. We were greeted when we walked in. The sales associate was helpful. He asked a few questions before recommended a bike for us. We «test ride» a couple of bikes behind the store — definitely a bonus as most of the big box stores do not allow you to «test ride». We left the store with the goal of further research before making a purchase. There was no pressure sale. After visiting Sports Authority/Aurora, Bike Performance, Dick’s Sporting Goods, REI, etc, we found they have limited small frame road bikes for adults. In the end, we circled back to Bicycles Etc and purchased the recommended bike. As part of purchase, they did a walk-thru with us on how to remove tires, etc. So far happy with the purchase.

I went in for the first time on May 19. I was greeted quickly and very nicely. I was just looking for a helmet on my first trip and felt no pressure to get something more expensive & the salesman was kind enough to make sure the helmet fit properly before I left. I had to run back a second time to get a new seat when my original one broke. The same salesman removed my broken seat off the post and put the new one on for no extra charge. The earned my future business yesterday!

I dunno, maybe I caught them on an off day. The sales associate clearly didn’t want to be there, and as a result, neither did I. The place is huge, and they have a large selection of bikes, but the clothing and accessories selection is severely lacking(only two pairs of MTB-style bike shorts?). I had gone in here, having priced out everything I needed on Amazon beforehand, so when the guy told me that everything I wanted to do to my bike would run me 4x as much as I had priced out, I made as quick an exit as possible. No reason for me to go back, especially after the great service I received at Performance later the same day.

When I needed a bike rack to hold my milk crate, Bicycles ETC. was there to lighten my load. They have a great staff and aren’t pushy and will listen to your biking needs. They have some pretty awesome bikes, too, FYI. I was able to do my L.A.T.E. Ride in style. Prices are pretty good for the quality that you get.

Before the review let me give some background to it. So a couple of months ago I bought a jogging stroller. My husband put it together for me and we took it out to McDowell Grove for a spin. Well the front tire was flat. We drove to 5 gas stations looking for an air pump to air it up. None of them worked. So my husband suggested that I take the stroller to Bicycles Etc. He said they should have a pump that would work. Enter the REVIEW: So after some whining that I didn’t want to haul the whole stroller to the store; I walk into the store holding the flat front tire and my daughter on my hip. I was greeted immediately by Maciej. He asked how he could help me. I told him, «I am not really here for a bike, my husband said you would be able to help me with my flat tire and sell me an air pump so I can keep it inflated. After that he first showed me a air pump that he thought would do the trick. Well because of the shape of the rim it looks like none of the air pumps would work. He took my tire to the back and used their industrialized air compressor and filled up my tire though. I was grateful that he did that. So now I have a full tire that I can use but what am I going to do when it starts to go flat again? So Maciej and I talked about bikes and bike trailers for kids. I was super impressed with his knowledge and when he had a question he went straight to his boss. I swear I think they had the encyclopedia of bicycles knowledge between them. I mean I have had problems with bikes in the past because I am of small stature. Plus, I really don’t want to ride around on a kids bike. He showed me a bike for my stature(a Trek), and I felt extremely comfortable with and I LOVED the color. He was very good with my daughter. Normally sales people freak about kids touching things but he offered her a bike horn to play with while we shopped and talked bikes. I was super impressed with this shop and the people working there. My daughter loves the pink, glittery bike horn she came home with.(We’ll have to put that one on her first tricycle when she finally gets one) If your into bikes I recommend this place, it’s their specialty. You are going to get everything you pay for and more. (Side note — there is a sister store for them in Lisle.)
