Ehh it’s ok. I went with the numbero uno. It was extremely basic with one slice of each meat. When held up it is about 98% bread with a sliver of onion, about 7 shavings of lettuce, and a sliver of tomato. Was really excited about the potato salad because I assumed it would be homemade. It may have been but came out in a little styrofoam container that looked like it had been packed in for some time. Two bites later it was gone. Which would be ok if there was any flavor to it. This place is walking distance for me so I was very excited but maybe this set my expectations to high. Also I am not sure what they are going for on the inside… They have this half Italian theme going. Many of their menu items that have been added are printed on pieces of paper and slapped onto their nice wall menus. While I was reading my choices I would come across another piece of paper with an added item. Even as I write this I look up and see added items that I did not originally see such as an egg salad sandwich. I will give it another shot out of connivence. I also feel bad for the review and hope that next time it goes better!

Ugh… Have you ever eaten food that just made you sad? As in, it was so horrible that you felt guilty consuming it? Well, that was my experience here.(As well as my fellow diner) Cup of tepid«wild rice and chicken soup», which was 90% corn starch and a few grains of rice. Then a ham and Swiss panini. They charge over a buck extra for«panini». And that means they take a cheap, dry and flavorless plain bread bun and mash it flat. Then stick the grossest squares of processed ham product on it, along w: a tomato, cheese, lettuce and onion. Then press it and call it a panini. Don’t forget the side thimble of «Italian dressing» which consisted of vegetable oil and oregano. Awful, is the word I would use to describe it. The most tasteless sandwich of my life. Odd that both of us commented–«I think the onion is the ONLY thing I am tasting». That’s a first! Where on earth are people eating that this place is receiving praise for their good food? Not Pickerman’s. Although the confusing décor mish-mash is possibly worth seeing to try to figure out.

I have a shortened lunch this week due to being on Winter Hours, so I attempted Pickerman’s one more time, as I knew I could make it there, get my food, and back to work within 30 minutes. I’ve gotten used to eating at my desk a long time ago. I got the soup and sandwich combo; I chose the Italian B.L.T. on panini bread and the broccoli cheddar soup. Both were rather good. The combo comes with a fountain drink. I don’t drink pop anymore, but decided to take the cup for water. Yeah, I don’t recommend doing that. PLEASE buy the bottled water they have in the cooler. I filled my cup up with the water that comes out of the fountain soda machine… and it was slightly orange-ish brown. Just like my water when I lived in the apartments right over there. Gross! I dumped it and opted for a Sprite instead, much to my disappointment. Like I said, I don’t drink pop anymore. Had to drop my rating a star due to the water. I’m sorry but that’s just disgusting.

I’ve heard good thing about Pickerman’s, so I decided to try them out yesterday for lunch. I was extremely disappointed to say the least. I’ve had 5 $ footlongs at Subway that were much better than the sandwich I was served here. I ordered their«premium roast beef» sandwich… the roast beef looked like dark Oscar Meyer bologna. There was so little«café sauce» that I couldn’t even find it on my sandwich. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the Lobster Bisque. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t bad. I will not be coming back here again.

Family owned — and the pride shows! Friendly, clean, and prompt service. Amazing customer service also — I called once for a pickup order and even though they were scheduled to close, the owner offered to stay there late so that I could still grab my(late) dinner. HOWNICE!!! Anyhow, they always have the best selection of soups around. My personal faves are(in order): potato cream cheese, broccoli cheddar, 5 star mushroom, loaded baked potato, roasted garlic tomato and potato cheddar. You can’t go wrong with any sandwich choice. Everything is fresh and delicious! I will always go out of my way for a Pickerman’s meal!!!

Wow, I went in this place to get a Greek salad and it was beyond terrible, nothing more than *white* iceberg lettuce, a few strips of carrot, and a VERY small portion of crumbled feta. The lady there also kept trying to steer me toward purchasing a sandwich when all I wanted was a salad! I’m not even sure if they’re still in business but this was an all-around disgusting experience… YUCK!

I tried Pickerman’s again a few weeks ago. This time I ordered the shrimp and lobster bisque and the ham and cheese panini. The panini bread is dry, and there wasn’t any kind of sauce on the sandwich. I don’t remember any element of cheese. Pickerman’s, you just got downgraded to 2 stars.

Definitely one of the better places to get lunch in the area. Great comfort food– nothing like a good sandwich and soup. Nothing too crazy good– but definitely a good sandwich.

Ordered the chicken panini and chicken enchilada soup today. The chicken panini was barely warm and the chicken in it was under-cooked. The chicken enchilada soup tasted ok but a small cup was about $ 3 which is too expensive for the quantity served! Very disappointed! Had really high hopes based on the other Unilocal reviews. I will not be going back!

The food was good. I did not like that they charged me for a cup of water.

It family owned and a local business. It’s quiet and clean with friendly service. Try the lobster bisque its so yummy and the panini(ham and sandwhich) isn’t bad. It was actually quite delicious but a bit dry. unless you add their secret sauce. This is a hidden gem that I probably would have never found.

My wife picked up soup and sandwiches for us the other day. I’d heard a lot about this place, so I was anxious to do battle with the legend. We had ‘Numero Uno’ and ‘Thats Italian’ paninis along with some Broccoli Cheddar soup. Let’s start with the sandwiches. Now, perhaps I’m spoiled by Which Wich, but both sandwiches from Pickerman’s were practically devoid of meat. Seriously. The bread seemed a bit stale as well. Overall, both sandwiches were decently tasty, but they certainly didn’t redefine my life as I had been led to believe. I was unimpressed. The soup was good, but as I understand it, the Lobster Bisque is the one to have. Because my wife forgot to order that instead, she’ll be sleeping in the garage until Spring. I’m willing to give Pickerman’s the benefit of the doubt … perhaps I caught them on an off day. I’ll give it one more try, just to make sure. Until then, three stars is the best I can do.

I saw this place several months ago and decided to come in and give a try after getting my car e-checked. Yep it is pretty much amazing. I had the chicken panini and potato cream cheese soup über tasty. The chicken panini was very light and crisp. The soup was very tasty and light as well. The décor is right on from the last review.(pickermans you had me at hello) I will return!!!

UGH! I feel like such a fool. This place has been under my nose for months, and I finally went there the other day! Located right next to the Metra train station for RT59, right behind Jimmy’s Charhouse. This place is fantastic. They do catering, carry out and counter service. It is very clean and very good. They are known by their name soup and sandwiches. Yes, they do serve lasagna. The sandwiches all come on on toasted bread. The soups come with side of breads. The décor is great. It green and white checker tablecloths. The food comes in cute little wicker baskets. I was stunned at how clean it was. It was gleaming! I mean I could see my reflection in the tablecloths they were that shiny. GO there Now! Don’t be a fool like me.
