I’m kind of a food snob when it comes to seafood. Let me tell you, every time I go to this place the food is super fresh, hot, and delicious! I’m never disappointed! The only somewhat complaint I would have is that seating is limited and prices are a little higher than average. But I’m willing to wait for a seat and willing to pay a little more for such good food!

I ate a grouper sandwich… skipped the slaw and fries since I read they weren’t so great. Grouper sandwich alone was about $ 12. It was fine. Had a big slice of tomato, green piece of lettuce, a dill pickle wedge and a cup or tarter sauce. Fish was flaky and hot. Tasted fine but not amazing in any way. Fish could have used some kind of seasoning or salt.

Amazing food but be prepared to wait for a table. Better to call in order and carry it out

Had this place on my list to visit when I was in Naples last week. I went for lunch on a Friday and it was packed inside and out. I got a grouper sandwich which came with lettuce, a thick tomato slice, a side of coleslaw and fries. The sandwich itself was tasty. If you’re going to call yourself«Grouper & Chips» you HAVE to get the fries right. Sadly they were mediocre at best. I’d give 3.5 stars if I could but I’ll round down to A-OK.

I vacation in Naples twice a year, and am super impressed with the high end, hip food scene. But, every visit there is only one place I re-visit every trip: Grouper and Chips! The little joint wins in every sense! The best! Try it mid afternoon after a morning at the beach.

Being from the Florida Keys, we’re tough fish critics, but Grouper & Chips really blew us away. Super easy to miss because of its small store front and location in a strip mall, but don’t let that discourage you from getting an unbelievable meal. The conch fritters are a must as an appetizer. We had the fish tacos which were amazing, but the grouper sandwich is absolutely the way to go. We had it with cheese and sautéed onions on top. Definitely on the top of my list of freshest fish. Staff was very friendly and wicked fast. All around a fantastic mom and pop shop that I will surely be going out of my way to visit again.

Fresh grouper! I had both the fried and the blackened… Def suggest getting the fried version. The portions are a decent size and everyone inside is very friendly. Tight space though so I recommend getting take out. Super good find for fish that’s easy and convenient!

Ordered one and two piece grouper basket. Two You can get it broiled or deep fried. Chose broiled. Came with fries and coleslaw. Ordered over phone for pickup. 2:45pm in the afternoon and place was full. Very small dinning area and it was quite warm. Not a bother for us as we got it to go. Was ready in under :15, as promised. Hot and delicious. Every bite was fantastic. Exceptional taste.

I had been wanting to come here for awhile because of the great reviews, the fact my friend works there was extra motivation(no worries about a biased review here I promise). The place was PACKED and rightly so as I was pleasantly surprised right off the bat. Per my friends suggestion, I got the crab cake appetizer. No lie, it was the best crab cake I’ve ever had. It had a sauce underneath that I would have slurped off the bowl if I didn’t look crazy while doing so. I then got the 1 grouper basket fried. It was fried to golden perfection and the Coleslaw and fries were yummy. Honestly, I would go back for the crab alone, forget the grouper. My friend later suggested getting the grouper blackened so I’ll have to try that next time. Now onto the reason I knocked off a star. My waitress left something to be desired. Maybe she was more lax because she knew I was friends with the other waitress, but I was disappointed. First, she took about 5 minutes to come over to ask what I wanted, she never cleared my appetizer plate after I was done, and then she tossed the check book onto my table. I was pretty displeased that she didn’t seem warm and was very robotic, calling out orders and demands. This is a far cry from my friend Jodi who in all honesty is the sweetest most polite and attentive person/waitress I’ve seen. People come back just for her. Regardless, I gave her more than a 20% tip hopefully that will put a smile on her face :)

Grouper and chips have been a local favorite for years, very simple, quite and clean There fish is fresh and changes on the menu based on their weekly The dining room is small so you may want to go a little early for a little late if you are in a rush Good food at a great price in a mom-and-pop environment, what more would you want!!!

Best grouper & chips in Naples. The place is tiny and nearly impossible to get into during season. Either be ready for a wait or go off season. The fish is always fresh. And if you save room for dessert, they have a chocolate moose that will have you reaching for insulin shots between bites. But you won’t stop

Very nice neighbourhood style low key place. Had shrimp and chips which was pretty good with shrimp a little over cooked. Other day had sautéed shrimp over pasta with lots of garlic which is a good thing. Waitress did ask another couple if they were ok with the garlic as they ordered. A little too much oil over the pasta but no big deal. Good food, very good service. Good for casual meal after a busy day.

Thank you, Unilocal!Fresh, fresh fish, great service, spotless restroom. Superior for a strip mall setting. No ambience, but great food.

This place is a true hidden gem. First off the hush puppies are outstanding. The crab cakes should be your meal here but the grouper is the bomb. Don’t come here thinking this is some high end joint. We are eating in the parking lot tonight and absolutely loving it. The fried zucchini appetizer is also a must. This joint is super small so eating outside should be an option for you. If you are in up for an adventure check this joint out. It is worth stopping for sure. We just had a piece of pumpkin pecan pie. Umm, I’d like to order an entire pie. Also we are sitting in the parking lot and 4 folks come out of this joint and get into a brand new rolls Royce. So don’t think you are to eat in a strip mall. You have to eat here and Kelly is a wonderful server.

I was visiting family in Naples and decided to give this restaurant a try based on the Unilocal reviews. It was definitely pricey. Food is ok. I ordered a lot of food for my family: fisherman’s platter, bouillabaisse seafood, conch fritters, crab cakes and hush puppies. About $ 130. I was disappointed that the only platter I Iiked was the seafood bouillabaisse. This had a lobster tail, mussels, scallops and shrimp; the taste was really good. Crab cakes definitely had a lot of crab in it but there was an added seasoning to it that I did not like but I did not know what it was. The fried grouper was a little salty with a thick batter coat. The conch fritters had no flavor and hush puppies was ok. I am sorry but I probably won’t be coming back even if it’s the hidden gem of Naples. The price point does not match the food quality.

We ordered a whole slew of grouper and chips baskets to go, and the fish was really delicious! The fries were standard, but the fish was really exceptional. We will be back!

Ok years ago… The first time I came here with my father in-law from VA I assumed it was a «tourist thing». Wow was I wrong. If you are looking for grouper this is the place. Every time I’ve eaten here I’ve ordered the grouper basket. It comes with fries and some really yummy coleslaw. The grouper arrives at your table crispy and fresh out of the fryer. It is not greasy at all. The batter does not take away from the light fresh flavor of the grouper; its crunchiness compliments the grouper. I love to sit outside and just take in the cool Gulf breeze as I enjoy my fresh never frozen grouper. This experience is what being a Neapolitan is all about. I was born and raised in Naples. I am not one of the wealthy, just a worker bee. There is no place like Naples, Grouper n Chips embodies that.

Now, let’s be clear — this is a five-star joint *in its category.* I’m not saying the service is elegant, the china is exquisite(there’s no china), or the music is played live by a graceful harpist.(There’s no room for a harp.) No, this is a little family-run strip-mall eatery — and I haven’t been to one of those that hits its marks as well as Grouper & Chips does in a looooong time, Fish, shrimp and other seafood are delivered fresh every day, according to the gang behind the short counter that divides dining room from kitchen pass-through — and it certainly tastes like it. I’ve had the house’s namesake fish fried and blackened, and I love it both ways. The fried shrimp are also outstanding — crispy batter, in a slightly hard-shell tempura style, around big, firm, meaty shrimp. A solid two bites per critter — and sturdy enough to stand up not just to cocktail sauce, but sriracha too, if that’s your style. The crab cakes are … Oh, the crab cakes. They’re among the best I’ve had, and I’ve spent time in both the Deep South and Washington, D.C., with easy access to the finest the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. These, though, are just inspirational: rich, pretty much filler-free, and served with a beurre blanc that makes ‘em downright sinful. Do not get me started on the clam chowder, because I’m too busy stuffing it in my face right now.(Not really. But good lord it’s good — rich, velvety, and probably not in any way made with an eye toward heart-healthiness.) Desserts, both key lime pie and chocolate mousse, are made in-house from the matriarch’s family recipe. And that third item on the dessert menu — the Dark & Tart? Well, that’s key lime pie served with chocolate mousse on top instead of the usual whipped cream. It’s death to your diet, but pretty damn tasty. I’m still working my way through the menu, but so far I think my favorite thing is the caesar salad with blackened grouper. The fish is sturdy and creamy, the blackening blend as much savory as spicy, and the portion(about 7 or 8 ounces of fish atop a generously dressed two cups or so of salad) a healthy one. Delicious.
