The prime rib sandwich is amazing! Curly fries. To die for! Awesome beers and great service.

We stay at Fisherman’s Memorial in our motorhome and came to Charlie’O for dinner. Our second time here, food and service is excellent! I had panko fish and baked potato, very good, my husband built a burger, excellent, beer selection, excellent!!! Will recommend and return !

As a local, I say this with love; this place needs major updating as far as décor. It’s dark, really dark inside. From the outside, it just looks dumpy. There’s colored organza and giant Christmas balls in all of the window boxes. It’s May. We go mainly for the buffalo chicken fingers every now and then(which they are known for) but, they’ve gone downhill, too. Charlie O’s is ok as far as pub food, but the atmosphere is so depressing. And service is very slow for the few tables they have. With all of the new restaurant choices popping up in the neighborhood, we most likely will not return.

Worst Manhattan ever. They call it a Perfect Bourbon, but it was mostly vermouth. The clan cakes were very doughy, little clam flavor. The chowder was also bland. Mostly potatoes with smoke bacon, which I couldn’t taste, and canned clams. If they weren’t canned, they were the most flavorless clams I’ve ever had.

Best boneless buffalo wings I’ve ever had. Great place to watch football. Service and management always treat you well.

Went here a couple of times this summer. I like the atmosphere, the wait staff if friendly and helpful. The customers can be a little rude sitting at the bar. The food is good from the fish & chips to the chicken wings. Will definitely hang out there again next summer.

A great sport bar but would not go out of your way for dinner. Pretty good fish fry and other fried seafood. Bar food, ok, but not great. With that said, a solid place for a casual meal and/or drinks. Busy college scene after 10:00pm.

I really wanted to like this place. I have been before but it was a long time ago. Let’s start with the positive. Great bar, great staff. My wife a nice Greek salad that she was very happy with. She should have her own blog on salads. My experience not so good. Fish and chips special comes with 3 clam cakes and cup of chowder. Chowder and clam cakes were ok, not the greatest, a little blend, plenty of clams. The fish was huge but raw and very greasy. Sent it back and got another greasy piece of fish. Nasty. You would think fries were expensive because I only got a small hand full

I have been going to Charlie O’s during the summer for the past 15 or so years. We went last night, and were very disappointed. We were told the wait was an hour, but waited closer to 1.5 hours and ended up in a booth with a chair on the end that we could have waited 30 minutes for. Bartenders were ok, waited 15 minutes to clear the app plates after we were done, which was annoying. Food quality has declined over the years. I used to get the rib and rib all the time but won’t order anymore. Soggy breading on fish and chips and Reuben. Chowder was good. Won’t be going for the food like I used to. Beer selection is pretty good. Upsetting that the quality has declined in food and atmosphere.

My friend and I came here for dinner tonight and accidentally left our leftovers at our table. As we got to our car, our waiter Dan V came running after us in the parking lot with our leftovers. As a fellow server I extremely appreciate servers that go above and beyond to provide quality service(especially even after you’ve left the restaurant!). Thank you Dan V for being a great waiter!

The staff is always welcoming and there are plenty of TVs for sports however it is time to upgrade the décor. When you first walk in you are greeted by the odor of a YMCA pool, the carpet must go. We had a pleasant experience once you adjust to that smell.

Our waitress was very friendly I really liked her. I was in the mood for scallops mkt price in off season but 24.95 for maybe 6 small scallops broiled with bread crumbs and rice a roni… Seems a bit steep to me.

Thanks to D-Rock and Simon for an awesome time Saturday night upstairs! We had a private birthday party with a food table and our own bartender. She was amazing and Simon stayed the whole time to chill with us and make sure the drinks were full and the food was ready. All you can eat for a reasonable price per person. The upstairs is spacious, our own bathrooms, table shuffleboard, darts, couches, etc. We had the room from 5 until close… amazing! Simon gave our guests from Houston some swag to take home to remember their trip. Thanks guys! A memorable night.

Came here on a Monday night with a group of 11. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table so we went to the bar to play Keno and drink. It wasn’t long before we pissed off a bunch of waitresses by getting in their way because there was limited standing space. Eventually a table opened up in the bar area that we decided to take. One waitress decided to tell her boss that she’d take our group because we were«already ridiculous». If she thinks we are ridiculous after one drink at the bar, I’d hate to have her see us on a good night! Probably not the smartest thing to say within earshot of people who you are hoping will tip you well after the meal, but hey, that’s her choice! Our 2 year old decided not to cooperate half way through and half of us had to get our meal to go. The buffalo chicken sandwich was actually pretty tasty and the mozzarella sticks were good as well. The rest of our group said they weren’t offered round 2 of drinks until the end of the meal. They had a group of 11 people who they could probably have served 6 rounds of drinks if they were on top of things. I see this all the time, restaurants with slow drink service. That’s your moneymaker, stop throwing away free money!

I would go back for the fun, but not for the food. I had roast chicken for dinner and it was dry. My friend had the app sampler and there wasn’t a single good thing on it. Okay– so no food. But it’s an active bar with pool tables in the rear, sports showing on multiple tv’s, and KENO to play. Around 10:00 it really filled up with college kids and I could see why. Lots of comfortable space to move around. Go to play but not to eat.

Ah, Charlie-O’s. One of the solid go-to spots for URI students. They have two billiard tables, casual seating areas(booths and high chairs) and naturally a large bar for drink orders. One of the main reasons we would go here was for their affordable large pitchers of sangria sipped through a straw. It gets pretty crowded here on Thursday/Friday nights but overall I haven’t had a bad experience here before. Plus the bartender/owner is pretty chill– and has some pretty awesome recommendations for drinks if you ask.

All around my favorite bar in the URI area. They have the pool tables in the back which are always fun. Monday nights after I believe 9 is when its free, but you gotta get there early or else there’s tons of people wanting to play. Happy hour is from 4 – 6 everyday. Cheap wings and have a small open buffet too and isnt too packed unless there is a big game on TV. Ive only gotten a few things on their food menu but everything I’ve had has been pretty good. Their clam chowder and stuffies are great. The chicken parm sandwich is also pretty tasty. All around good bar food. The wings are pretty lack luster though. But they get the job done and during happy hour are very cheap. The food is expensive but the serving size isnt bad. So you dont feel like you’re getting swindled. The bartenders are all nice and very competent. Overall the drink quality and size is great. You’re not paying $ 8 for a small little mixed drink, no you get a nice sized glass. One of the bartenders named Carl makes a great White Russian. Actually all the drinks he makes are really good so dont worry about what you order from him. All of their bartenders are good and know how to make a variety of drinks. Somehow they always know when you’re in need of another drink or service. Very very rarely have I had to flag one of them down for service. Also you cant beat $ 6 pitchers of Bud light and sangria. If you’re looking for a college scene then go there after 11pm Friday and Saturday. It is absolutely packed but still not impossible to get a drink. However be warned that in order to use a debit or credit card there is a $ 15 minimum. Any other night though there is no minimum. Also during the weekend the upper portion of Charlie O’s called Simons is open. Simons is a very nice martini bar. Its usually not as packed as it is downstairs so it can be nice if you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter. There’s a darts board and an awesome shuffle board in Simons too. One of the bartenders, I forget his name, but he only serves upstairs, makes the best drinks of all the bartenders. He is an older gentleman who is usually wearing suspenders. Dont know his name though. So get a drink from him when you can

Charlie O’s is a great local spot for a good meal — especially if you’re in the mood for quality seafood or a homey entrée. For starters we had the calamari app — and asked for the traditional RI garnish of banana peppers. Our waitress also brought a cup of marinara to dip. These rings were fresh, hot and oh so delish! I don’t know what it is about the peppers, but I’ve grown to love them with my calamari :-) For our main courses we went with non-seafood choices — a great turkey dinner and chicken parm. Both were tasty but a minor quibble was my pasta only had a dab of sauce — not nearly enough to coat my spaghetti. Asking for more took a few minutes, but everything worked out fine in the end. The ambiance is dark, cozy and welcoming. The service was friendly and mostly prompt. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to going back for more of that outstanding calamari!

I’m feeling it. Stopped by on a random Monday night to watch the BCS National Championship. Was met at the bar by a friendly bartender and shortly thereafter a very cold beer. We started with buffalo fingers which were pretty darn good and then I had the meatloaf special. Apparently the meatloaf has been a dinner special every Monday night since they opened in 1990. Yeah, whatever, it’s just meatloaf. Or so I thought. Holy mother of all that is good and right in the world. It’s meatloaf STUFFED with ham and cheese. Served with a rich brown gravy(just like mom used to make) and your choice of strach — I had the mashed taters and corn. Okay, so, tastebuds watering? They ought to be. Now, about that portion size… easily 2 ½ inches thick and big. Think of a thick piece or prime rib and how much space that takes up on your plate. Okay, ready for the price? $ 7.99 — seriously! Ha! Bonus!!! Lots of televisions to watch your favorite sports. Pop-a-shot. Five pool tables. And another area that is quieter with just dining. Upstairs is a martini bar. Couches. Nice place to have a cocktail. I like this place and in the summer it’s even more fun. Sure, after 11:00 or so it’s more of a college student hang-out but that can be fun too!
