Honestly, I’ve given Meldgie’s about five different chances and I just am never crazy about it. One of the times that I went I did get extremely sick and was a bit turned off by it for some time but since then have gone back. The menu offers the standard American breakfast stables, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, etc. It is nice that they are in a mini-shopping center so there is always parking available in the lot. The inside is quite small and very outdated. The times that I have gone it has been during the Summer(the busiest time of the year) or on weekends in the Winter so I’ve experience a wait, which was bearable. As mentioned they have a standard breakfast menu and the prices are definitely fair. However, I find the food to be bland and not nearly as good as Meldgie’s competitors in the area(although they tend to have higher priced menu items). Overall, everything here is fine, the atmosphere, cleanliness, staff, food… you name it. It serves its purpose but it does so in a very average way.

5⁄10. My friend got the waffles and sausage and only ate half because he was so disgusted. Tastes like reheated frozen food.

Great Americana Diner. Had the Meldgie Melt and Meldgie’s hash browns. Here is the key — get sausage gravy on top of your hash browns.

Friendly little diner that remained fairly quiet throughout brunch. Home fries and hash were excellent. A few mistakes made with the orders but they were quickly fixed when brought to their attention.

Food was delicious but the service is awful IF you are not a local. Our first mistake was choosing to sit at the table designated for 4 or more people by accident(We are 2 plus a toddler). I thought the waitress gave a bit of attitude taking out drink order and when we realized our mistake(sign on the wall), we immediately moved to another table after apologizing profusely. A table with two local patrons came in after us, ordered and were served their breakfast, before the waitress came over and said that«our ticket was next and our food would be right up.» After we ate(French toast was amazing, omelet was good, home fries delicious, banana pancakes were not so good), I had to ask for our bill three times before the waitress finally walked around and offered everyone in the room coffee refills and then asked me for a refill. When I said no thank you but I will take my bill, she acted like she forgot to give it me(I asked her for it 5 minutes before this). 1.5 hours for breakfast start to finish. Enjoy a delicious meal but be prepared to wait. And wait…

Place is unbelievable. Best breakfast in town. Fairly priced, staff is super accommodating and happy to serve you. Stop there every time I’m in Narragansett!

Probably the best or second best place to get breakfast in Narragansett. I’ve been here more times than I count and not once have I been disappointed by the food

Decent diner fare, bit of a wait. Nothing spectacular food-wise, though the menu was pleasantly varied compared to most diners. Bit of a wait at the beginning of the meal, looks like weekend breakfasts are a busy time for them. A little confusion at the end for us, instead of paying the bill at the table they have you pay at the counter. We asked for the bill and it took the waitress a half hour to let us know where to go to pay. Kind of a long line just to pay up, but it was nearly closing time so the delay was understandable. Overall an equitable way to fill up on a lazy Saturday. P. S. Check out the old school style overhead lamps, extra points for the retro touch.

Meldgie’s Diner is my go-to breakfast place in Bonnet Shore. It’s a diner, they cook the eggs, and toast the bread for you, and they don’t charge much. The wait staff is very hard working and the cooks are good people. I’ve eaten there with my family at a table as well as alone with the NYT at the bar. If you like good basic diner food at a reasonable price and like to hang out with the«ordinary» folk, then this is the place for you.

This place has very low prices, and if you get here in its first few hours being open you can get some insane bird deals. The food is fine. The pre-frozen assembly-line looking variety(but again, cheap). You can upgrade from Home Fries to «Meldgie’s fries» with garlic and onion and peppers maybe for a small fee. Why wouldn’t you???

This is my favorite spot in Bonnet! Great breakfast and a staff that is working hard the entire time. I never see anyone hanging out and chatting, they’re either cleaning, preparing, settling checks or serving tables. If you’re looking for a great spot for breakfast or lunch, this diner is where it’s at. The eggs benedict are my favorite, but really… ANYTHING you get that has the red potatoes is great. The home fries are just incredible and I’m obsessed. Get your diner on with this charming little location and then enjoy the local beaches and the beautiful coastline.

First let me say, I am always understanding when dining out. I understand that things get busy and sometimes your server can’t get to you right away. That being said, it’s poor customer service to ignore a new table after walking by them a couple times when it isn’t busy at all. I was visiting my family in RI last weekend and thought I’d take a trip to Narragansett. On the way I stopped in at Meldgies, and rather than be seated the ‘hostess’ pointed at a table and walked away. My fiancé and I sat for 20 minutes and were never approached by our server. She walked around our table, to attend to other patrons, but never acknowledged us. After 20 minutes, we decided to try the breakfast bar. We were also ignored by the staff behind the bar. I was downright furious. Is it because I’m not a ‘local’? After a few more minutes at the bar I left and called to let them know they lost business. It honestly didn’t sound like they cared which is why I am writing this review. I have never been so unhappy when I was out dining as I was last Saturday.

Enjoyed our visit! Solid diner experience with typical menu: eggs, pancakes, omelets, sides, etc. The waitress was lovely and efficient. I had the blueberry pancakes and bacon. Yum.

Melgie’s Melt was pretty good but that was not $ 2 worth of home fries. To add insult to injury, those were not good home fries. The homemade hash was good, so was the Texas French Toast. My friend ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a bulky roll and the waitress asked him, «and what’s your side?» — not explaining that his meal didn’t come with a side and costed extra.

Try the King Meldgie challenge if your feeling ambitious. 2 monster breakfast sandwiches loaded and homefries. Melts in your mouth… and you get a free T-shirt! Highly Recommended
