A true treasure! Do not be fooled by the appearance from the outside– it may look rough, but it is a treasure chest! After living in Arizona on the border and loving the intense and rich Hispanic flavors, I thought I would never find them here, but here they are. A vast selection of treats: pastry, cookies, you name it, and at an amazing price! Additionally, I was amazed to find peppers and tortillas. It was later in the evening, and they were still open, so I threw what cash I had at them, and left wishing I had more. I wish I had pictures of what I purchased, but it didn’t last that long. Bring $, because they don’t take card–(you wont need a lot of cash– but will wish you brought more. If the abuela sitting there when I walked in made these amazing detectibles, she deserves the biggest hug and kiss on the cheek!

While I agree that the bakery is not the most exiting to look at, the pastries are great. They are extremely tasty and very cost effective. Lots of cinnamon delights and a good selection of cookies. This is a must stop and try place when in the area. Try something you didn’t think you would like and be surprised.

Good little spot. T Pastries and cakes. Some dried chili’s too! The cookies and other items are reliable, and are good. Very friendly staff that take the time to walk you through their offerings!

While it doesn’t look like much from outside, the pastries are really great, especially the empanadas. We stop in every once in a while to grab a few pastries, and have always found them fresh and delicious. The gentleman who has rang us up each time we have visited is quiet but friendly. Prices are great and we have yet to pay more than $ 6 for a bag full of treats! Have not tried their cakes or small selection of grocery goods, but they also carry some drinks and oftentimes have breads available too.

At first glance from the outside looking in, La Mexicana Bakery appears to be a small neighborhood convenience shop with a wedding cake in the front window. However, upon entering, look left and you’ll find plenty of self serve Mexican baked goods and treats in the enclosed plastic cases to choose from including a variety of cookies, small cakes, sweet rolls, pastries, rolls, plain & filled croissants. Just grab a plastic tray and tongs near the counter and help yourself to the goodies! There are laminated picture menus with pricing hanging from the cases. The prices are very reasonable, many baked goods priced well under $ 2 and a few just over. I stop in here quite a bit and usually get my favorite treats on the cheap including the butter croissants, ham & cheese croissants, empanadas, cinnamon sugar cookies, jelly rolls, elephant ears, and horns filled with fruit jelly. However, inspect the baked goods carefully which may not be the freshest all the time. One time, I found mold on one of my cookies, hence the 3 star rating. Besides, baked goods, they sell very limited dry groceries, ice cream, candy, cold drinks, phone cards, and hot chili peppers.
