Rating Hotel: clean, comfortable beds, balcony off room and relatively quiet. Not a chain so you can’t expect high end. Now the breakfast buffet was not stellar but basic and wait staff was friendly. Very quaint atmosphere, lodge like.

I live in this community, so the $ 7 lunch special at The Seasons is something my wife and I take advantage of on occasion. The food is typical for this area(read: nothing truly outstanding), but when you are in a hurry, it suffices. Earlier this week, however, we had a never-to-return-again experience that exemplifies how much this establishment has gone downhill over the past few years. My wife has a medical condition(Hashimoto’s Disease) and cannot have gluten. She also reacts to potatoes(among other things), so when we ordered the $ 7 special of chopped steak(hamburger), mashed potatoes(instant) and veggie-of-the-day(frozen California mix), she asked to substitute a second serving of vegetables in place of the potatoes. It took more than 25 minutes(and less than 30) for our food to arrive, even though we were one of just five tables being tended by two servers at the time. When we asked the server about the length of time it was taking, she informed us that the chopped steaks were made to order and that they always take 20 minutes. (Make sense of that to me, please… why would they offer that as a lunch special when, mathematically, that leaves most people about 10 minutes to eat before having to leave; ideally, 10 minutes to get there from work, five minutes to get seated, receive drinks and order, 20 minutes cooking time, 10 minutes to eat, five minutes to pay and leave, and another 10 minutes to return to work.) When the food finally arrived, the chopped steak was covered with cheese and mushroom gravy. My wife cannot have gravy because it’s made with flour(gluten), and nowhere did their signage mention that the chopped steak would be smothered in gravy. She assumed that by not ordering mashed potatoes, she would avoid any gravy, and when she asked the server about it, the server got very snarky and defensive. My wife returned her plate, untouched, but by that time, there was no time left to get anything else, so she didn’t/couldn’t eat. To cap it off, the server never apologized, never asked if she could do anything to make the situation better… nothing. Neither did the hostess when we paid and left. For the first time ever in 26 years of marriage, we didn’t leave a tip.(We normally leave 20 percent or so for average service, 25 to30 percent or more for good service, and 10 to 15percent for poor service.) And, we will never return there to eat again. This is a prime example of how the quality of this establishment has diminished over time. It’s a real shame, because it used to be one of the many jewels of Brown County. Now, however, it’s more akin to just another stone in the creek.

Two stars is being rather generous. Years ago this was a decent place, but the last couple of times we have eaten here it has been disappointing. Our side dishes were cold, gravy was terrible, chicken wasn’t as good as I remembered, salad bar was a bit lacking, and waitress wasn’t a professional waitress, she was just going through the motions. Not very attentive at all. Both soups had beef in them, and I don’t eat red meat so that was disappointing. Atmosphere is good, nice dining room.

Be coming here for years with my family. Friendly staff and decent restaurant. Try not to come in the off season because the bar won’t make every drink and the restaurant closes early or does not open. Great pool!!!

We went to the Seasons Lodge Dining Room this past weekend while visiting Nashville for our annual fall visit. My husband had grown up visiting this restaurant many times a year specifically for the fried biscuits and apple butter. We ordered those, as well as a pork tenderloin sandwich, a fried catfish platter, and two kids meals. The reason we went, the fried biscuits and apple butter, were plentiful but mediocre at best. I was grateful we had them, however, because our meals were nearly inedible. The sides, mashed potatoes and gravy and peas, were clearly canned and utterly disgusting. The catfish seemed a heated-over frozen fillet, and I’m fairly certain it gave me food poisoning. My husband’s tenderloin was«ok,» but he was very disappointed in the biscuits and apple butter. He thinks they changed the biscuit. The kids meals were a generic boxed macaroni and cheese, and a forgettable hamburger. All for the bargain price of $ 40! What a ripoff! There was 1 server for about 10 tables, and although she was very pleasant, couldn’t handle the entire dining room alone. We waited 15 minutes from the time we asked for the check(which we had to track her down 15 minutes after finishing our meal to ask for) until we received it. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was terrible(and when I say that, please know I will eat almost anything), the service lacking, and the atmosphere was stale. They seem to be riding on the coattails of a formerly great establishment. Too bad. I would recommend almost anywhere else in Nashville.
