Bam! Momma loved the gumbo! We had the gumbo(non of that Tony’s seasoning, this had to be home made), crawfish étouffée and red beans and rice. Non was bad, but the gumbo won, in my opinion the beans needed more rice(but I’m from Tennessee, momma from LA told me to shut my mouth). Swing by if you got the hankering.

Outside of New Orleans/Lafayette, this is the most authentic Cajun food I’ve ever had. Hands down best soft shell crab Po Boy. Excellent oyster Po Boy as well. Gumbo was flavorful and subtle-not tourist fare at all. Plus the trip is worth it to hang out and talk with Chef Paul-a real delightful character. Can’t wait to come back to Natchez just to work through the rest of the menu!

Great little place. There are several authentic Cajun items on the menu at reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and helpful — Mom and Pop at its finest. Met and had a wonderful chat with Miss Lynda, and hope to meet Paul on my next visit. Forget Canal Street and go here first.

I have 5 words: There’s nothing like Southern Cooking! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Those were the best shrimp I have ever tasted, EVER! The BLT was off the chain and the seafood Gumbo was different and off the chain gooooooooood! He didn’t realize the gumbo would be filling so he ordered a cheeseburger, lol… he was about to pop. Everyone was so friendly and this IS a place I/we will visit again!

This is a must stop! Food was superb and the atmosphere delightfully fun! Owned and operated by a true blue New Orleanian. The muffuletta is worthy of lunch and take the rest home for dinner! The red beans and rice were piquant and just like home! If I weren’t so full I’d have had one of everything…:-) Owner Chef Paul is a delight and his kitchen staff, Victoria and Rhonda can flat out do it to it!!! Will most definitely return!

What a delightful time we had! From the moment we walked through the doors we were treated as members of the family. The food was authentic and delicious. The friendliness of the owners and staff make up for the lack of ambiance.

I had catfish with crawfish etoufee along with some boudin balls. The boudin balls were pretty good, but the etoufee had little flavor. The food wasn’t bad, just nothing that will blow you away. In addition, it is pretty pricey. I paid $ 20 just for myself. In a fancy setting I don’t have a problem with that, just not in a gas station.

Friendly service. The gumbo was REAL New Orleans gumbo. I tasted the seafood stock and rich flavors in my cup. I did the«Let Phil Feed You.» I did not like a couple of the dishes, but that’s OK. I like trying new stuff, and they just weren’t up my alley, though all the dishes were really flavorful. Etoufee on point. Fried fish, oyster, and shrimp very good – nice coating, juicy – NOT overcooked. Phil is a nice guy, and the real deal from NOLA. Definitely going back!

Don’t let the looks of the place fool you, the magic is all inside. I’ve tried the top reviewed restaurants in Natchez this weekend and this one is right at the top. When one of the items on the menu is called«let Paul feed you,» you know it’s about to be special. That’s what I ordered, and what I got was an 8 course Cajun meal that was just perfect. The crawfish étouffée was my favorite. The owner is from New Orleans, and is just a wonderful host. He makes you feel like you are eating at your house. Will be going back anytime I’m in the area.

We only had 2 days in natchez and after reading all of the amazing reviews of so many restaurants in town we had no idea how we would narrow the choices down. We chose Cajun Cookin the first night as we were tired and just wanted something quick and easy… well…did we make the best choice EVER! It was so delicious that we ended up skipping the other restaurants and just eating here both days! Chef Paul is an awesome guy to just chill with and the food is spectacular! I HIGHLY recommend the gumbo and the crawfish balls and any po boy that suits your taste! We would actually go back to natchez just to see Chef Paul and eat his amazing food!

I spent 12 days in the Natchez area and ate at Chef Paul’s place on six of them. I just couldn’t get enough. I tried the Shrimp Po-Boy, Roast Beef Po-Boy, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish, Beignets, and the Bread Pudding and all were superb. I grew up in New Orleans but have been away for a long time. The dishes at Cajun Cookin’ had wave after wave of long-lost memories flooding over me. Paul is a great chef and a great conversationalist with a real New Orleans accent that adds so much to the atmosphere of the place and, if you’re lucky, he may just provide you with a little lagniappe, ya heard me?

Oyster Po boy was the best I’ve ever had. Shrimp was great, too. Owner/Chef is the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet. He gave my son a crawfish eating lesson and made us feel right at home. It was a great experience. My husband and son both had seafood gumbo and really enjoyed it. Love this place! If I lived closer, I’d be a regular here.

After letting Chef Paul know we were Californians looking for Cajun tastes, we enjoyed a shrimp plate and poor boy with bread pudding(with amaretto sauce). Flavors that we’re full and expressive, yet not so overdone that you missed the delicate flavor of the fresh large shrimp along with great condiment sauces made this a really enjoyable meal. I am going to try and eat there again before heading out in our motor coach. Thank you Chef Paul!

I have had muffuletta’s all around New Orleans, this place is as good as I have ever eaten, maybe the best. I let mine sit for a day to marinate. YUMMY! You need to like olive oil! Very small and casual. The pooboy’s are fabulous as well. We had the soft shell crab & and the fried oyster & shrimp, Very Good. I also got a couple of crawfish étouffée to go. Wonderfull. Suggestions; call in and get to go.

I had hot Italian sausage poboy and wife had ½ muffuletta sandwich. Both were excellent. Owner Paul let us sample the boiled crawfish, which was good and spicy! He was born & raised ‘uptown ‘Nalins and had bar/grill in Metairie, so he knows what he’s doing. Small building is only gripe; don’t let it stop you going, though!
