Let’s face it, you’re not going to a place called«Fat Mama’s» in Natchez expecting a five-star dining experience. Given that, you’ll be pleased with what you do get; cool hipster vibe, comfortable inside or outside patio seating, friendly Southern small town service, best tamales around, great $ 5 margarita & decent beer selection. I had the gringo pie(a couple tamales with chili, cheese & jalapeños on top) and the aforementioned $ 5 margarita. Not a bad quick casual dinner for under $ 15.

My friend Marcia & I are driving from Austin to northern Virginia by way of Natchez Trace with Marcia’s little dog. Looking for some lunch & info on a possible tornado we stopped into Fat Mama’s. Well we weren’t in there five minutes before a lovely young woman behind the counter invited us to bring in the dog. Poor dear who would have been freaked out by impending storm. Such a long story to say Thank you to the sweet & welcoming folks at Fat Mamas. Their hearts & hospitality was just what we needed

Great spot for a quick, cheap bite of yummy food! Casual atmosphere and extremely fast service! I’ve tried the tamales with chili and the nachos with chicken and cheese. Both dishes were delicious and filling! The tamales had a nice kick, but weren’t too spicy, and they hit the spot after a long day of touring the city! I’d suggest going if you’re looking for a yummy, inexpensive, fast sit down place and a refreshing drink to cool off!
