I was craving a bagel sandwich, so I ‘yelped’ to see what was around me and this popped up. Heck, I was in the area so I parked and walked in. I should have picked up on the fact that aside from other customer, the place was empty. The bagel selection was low, which was understandable given it was about noon. I ordered an everything bagel, toasted, with chive cream cheese and lox. Mistake. The bagel was barely toasted, but good. That’s where the good news stops. My ever so lightly toasted bagel was SLATHERED in cream cheese. I understand someone being generous, but this was absolutely unappealing. I took at least half of it off, probably more. Also, I believe she microwaved it beforehand to soften it as well. Perhaps I’m picky, but there is a difference between smoked salmon and lox. The fish on my bagel sandwich was thickly sliced, and neither fresh or seasoned. I couldn’t eat it. The place was a mess! There was not a single clean table. I started wiping my own table and chair down before I ate. The employee who was chatting it up with the other customer looked at me and continued his conversation. Will not be returning.

Great bagels. The best thing they have is the avocado and onion cream cheese, it’s not advertised very prominently, but it’s amazing. Cash only which is a bit of a drag — but a great everything bagel and nice people that work there.

The best cream cheese in America. I have traveled and had the top rated bagels in NYC Chicago and Boston and bagels best has been my favorite since I was a kid. Highly suggest the everything bagel toasted with plain cream cheese and I nice pineapple orange guava Nantucket nectar. Make sure you bring cash because they don’t take cards.

The best bagel and coffee place on earth. I said it all. Highly recommended. Toasted whole wheat bagel with Avacado with breakfast blend coffee is my favorite. They have plenty options, fresh and tasty bagels and excellent customer service. Be sure to carry cash on you or a checkbook. Cards are not accepted.

The only downfall of this place is that it’s cash only, BUT there is a BOA atm right across the street! Everything I’ve had here so far is amazing, the best bagel sandwiches I have found so far. The prices are quite reasonable too, considering they give you generous portions of meat(including the salmon!)

I’ve been coming here for many, many, many years now. I love their bagels and bagel sandwiches. My all time favorites are a toasted bagel(preferably the spinach, otherwise an everything or garlic) with their avocado onion cream cheese for breakfast, and an A3(smoked turkey, cheddar, avocado, lettuce/tomatoes, add some cukes, hold the honey mustard — but slather on some hummus please!) on a toasted garlic bagel for lunch.

The staff here are very nice and the food is decent, but it’s more expensive and just doesn’t seem to taste as good as the other local bagel place. PROS: Line goes fast(if there is one) and there is plenty of seating to eat and read the paper. It’s also kid friendly. CONS: They are cash only, although there is a Bank of America ATM very close. This business is also NOT handicap accessible. There are two entrances in the front and back which are both stairs. I noticed that the front entrance has a modified(open air) elevator, but it’s blocked off on the top landing and they use it for storing cups and other supplies instead.

Bagel’s Best is my go-to bagel/breakfast/lunch stop. I’ve been coming here since I was little and even though I don’t live in Needham anymore, I keep coming back. The bagels are the perfect combination of dense and fluffy for my taste. They’re definitely lighter than a classic NY bagel, but I prefer that lightness. I also love that they have big variety, including my favorite — oat raisin. The cream cheese is also really tasty… MUCH better than other bagel stores in the area. This place is family run and you can feel that the owners, Danny and Sharon really care about their product and their customers. Tip — don’t pass by the pastry case too quickly. These aren’t the stale, mundane cookies you find in most sandwich shops. All the pastries are delicious, but the gingerbread men are my favorite!

these bagels are just so-so…and can’t stand up for a minute to café fresh bagel down the street. shocking to me then that they charge more for a bagel(25% more) than café fresh bagel charges. drive one mile down highland and hit café fresh bagel for a much better tasting, fresher and cheaper bagel.

I moved to Needham 7 years ago, discovered this little hidden gem and have been addicted to their bagels from the first bite. The owner explained to me why his bagels are different, he doesn’t use a lot of processed ingredients and why his bagels taste better. I usually buy a dozen for the week, keep them frozen and defrost in the fridge over night to eat the next day. You have to taste it to believe it, and trust me i’ve eaten a lot of bagels from many places …

The bagels are okay, but the service is just awful! It is right next to my office, so I really wanted to love this place because it is just so convenient… But sadly, I hate it. Every time I go I wish I can’t. Today was the final straw. You better stop at the bank if you want to make any substitutions! The menu had a turkey, avocado and cheddar cheese option for $ 7. I asked to substitute cheddar for cream cheese and got charged $ 2 for that mistake. By the time I paid tax, it was $ 10 for a crappy bagel sandwich. The girl that takes your order is so unfriendly and argumentative. They really need to hire some friendly staff members that understand customer service. I’ll be driving down the road for bagels from now on.

Many of you may remember the bagels gas of the 90s. It seemed like there was a bagels place on every street corner. Well, over the years most have gone out of business. I don’t know if this place was around back then, but if it was, there’s no question why it lasted. Really loving the bagels here. Thick and delicious. They have a great variety. I’m a big fan of the bagel pizzas. The service has always been decent. Cant complain. Overall, unless you’re on a low carb diet, give them a try.

Absolutely loved the fresh, flavorful everything bagel. Toasted with turkey and all the fixings it was a delicious lunch that I craved for the rest of the weekend. Do get the honey mustard – it’s creamy, tangy, and just the right amount sweet.

I go to Bagel’s best every week mostly cause it is near the needham center train stop. The bagels have increasingly gotten less fresh. I can barely eat one the next day. The service is awful! No one ever smiles… especially the people that grab your bagel order? The place always has dirty floors and counter tops and tables. The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. And if you are not going to accept credit cards please post clearly. I won’t be back.

When I first moved to Needham from the New York metro area, I refused to believe that bagels or pizza could be anywhere as good as they were from my hometown. But Bagel’s Best gives the bagel stores of the New York tri-state area run for their money! Located in the town center of Needham, the store is always packed with students from the local middle and high schools on half days. Unfortunately, this means that there are certain days that the store quickly runs out of popular bagels, leaving those behind the rush out of luck. This is the only reason I’m taking away one star. The store has many options for bagels, and they make the bagels just doughy enough that they stand out on their own, but also work well when toasted and don’t become too hard. They also have a nice selection of sandwiches and breakfast pastries, though their coffee menu is a tad small and a little overpriced. Some people have complained about the service, but my family has never had an issue. One man, who is usually behind the counter, even remembers my grandfather, who comes from New Jersey a couple of times a year and always makes sure to stop by the store. They are always cordial, and generally remember our previous orders. Overall a nice little gem of a bagel store — whose main issue is that they sometimes just can’t make enough bagels to feed the demand!
