Stoney Creek Bar & Grill

Unlike the other reviewers, I’ve had a few pleasant experiences at Stoney Creek. First, I was there for golf. Of course, you’re hungry so you eat so you check out their grill (instead of the small halfway house for a hot dog). Both times I’ve eaten there I’ve had their burger. Delicious and filling. A step up from bar food and not too booshie given it’s at a golf attraction. I’ve found the staff to be helpful on both occasions and most recently, fast and attentive given our time constraints to golf. They did feature a local musician that played some folk music. I wasn’t a fan of the tunes but given that I was in the mountains, this was expected. Given that I’m there for golf first, this restaurant was a nice addition to the experience.

Couldn’t get into the other «highly rated» restaurant on Memorial Day weekend so we settled on this place. Boy are we glad we did. Very few customers on a Saturday holiday weekend made us a bit nervous but things quickly went great. Full service bar and tasty wine choices. Terrific meals of ribeye steak and fish with good side dishes. The service was very pleasant and prompt. Our best meal this weekend after trying four other places around Wintergreen. The bad ratings here don’t reflect how poor the other choices are compared to this place.
Definitely recommended.
The bad reviews have been some time ago. Maybe management got rid of the poor employees. Our wait staff was very attentive and friendly during our visit here.
Give it a try… I don’t think you will be disappointed.

The restaurant is excellent. Great service and moderately priced. Good wine selection. Good venue for birthdays, anniversaries, special events. Indoor and patio dining. Occasionally have entertainment on the patio on weekends. This restaurant is part of the Wintergreen resort system which is now under new ownership since 2013, which has taken the restaurant and for that matter the entire resort from mediocre to excellent. The only negative is that their hours fluctuate seasonally, and since we visit the area several times a year it is not always open.

I wish I could give it no stars. I wish that I would have looked it up before deciding this was were we were going to do. We waited 40 plus minutes for our food. Had to request refills on water. No idea where our server was going, but in an hour and a half we saw her maybe 3 times. Food was mediocre at best, and super expensive because it is a la carte. Never ever again.

Absolutely atrocious service. The manager is wonderful and attentive, but this comes in sharp contrast with an absolutely terrible wait staff. Our glasses and silverware were dirty, and the bus boy was dismissive. Our waiter basically just abandoned us after taking our orders. The manager brought us cleaned silverware and served our food, but our waiter never once came back to check on us, even as we saw him walk back and forth past our table many times. We had a reservation and the restaurant was not busy, so I can’t fathom the reason for such bad service. The food is ok, but certainly not worth the bad service.

A 1 star here is generous. We dined here with a party of 6. We had reservations so we did not have to wait for a table, however we did have to wait almost an hour for our food. Then when it arrived, 4 of the 6 meals had to be sent back for being cold and/​or undercooked. Don’t waste your time here.
