I got take out on a rainy Sunday and it well exceeded my expectations! The sushi pieces are so big and voluptuous! Super tender, fresh and nicely packed! The ginger dressing is one of the best! Can’t wait to dine in! The service via phone was pleasant and quick delivery!

WOWWOWWOW. This is one of the best sushi places on Long Island. No, I’m not kidding I’ve eaten at over 500+ sushi restaurants so I carry the street cred. Why Kushi Sushi? SIMPLE: it’s really delicious fresh sushi. It was sushi porn. Every bite was a culinary money shot! I had a tuna craving, huge tuna craving and I have to say Kushi sushi delivered and brought the table to the table! I eat sushi in Los Angeles once a week sometimes twice. I’ve eaten it all over the world and I have to tell you the chefs at Kushi really know how to make flavors dance on your palate! What’s awesome(and a surprise) is they brought out an Salmon appetizer that is like butter. BEEFNEGAMAKI appetizer was huge and just delicious(check pic) I had the Crazy Tuna roll, The yummy roll & this amazing shrimp tempura/spicy tuna roll! It was just so good. The miso soup was the perfect amount of flavor and enhancement to our meal. This is the place, you are getting great food treat yourself for the best or if you want to impress someone for their first time or a date THISISTHEPLACE! A shoutout to Andy our server who was just on point & great with suggestion!

UPDATINGMYREVIEW kushi NEVERTURNEDMEDOWN HOWCAN I NOTLOVETHISPLACE!!! its by far THEBEST local Japanese restaurant in my life. I took my dad and my sister who just arrived from DUBAI and KOREA out today. And it was like father-daughters lunch date, and we need a place to catch up everything and KUSHI made it PERFECT. we started with miso soup and green salad with ginger dressing, and(i believe) its spicy salmon wrapped with salmon sashimi appetizer that was generously offered by the chef. then each one of us had uni sushi with quail egg, and uni was really fresh and my dad, sushi expert, loved the freshness of it. then, we moved on to sushi and sashimi combos as well as 3 rolls. sushi was very soft and fresh, the amount of rice was perfect, and the attentive waitresses are there for you whenever you would liked. No words could describe how much we all enjoyed our meal, but THEPICTURESWILLEXPLAINHOWGREAT the experience was. amazing sushi, amazing staffs. would definitely go AGAINANDAGAIN even after the graduation. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

Tiny restaurant in Nesconset. We were nicely surprised by the freshness of the sushi here. We even received a free dish from the chef, this was a nice gesture. Both my husband and I really enjoyed our dishes, just wish the place was a bit larger. I didn’t like feeling so closed in and the staff right on your back. They seem to do a lot of take out here too.

The best sushi place… I go here at least once a week. The sushi is just so good. Everything is so fresh and clean. The workers are super nice and they have a great online menu that you can order the first time get 10% off then keep getting points to get 5 dollars off. They also have good lunch specials like bento box and three rolls for 11. Prices are very reasonable. Overall, AMAZINGSUSHI. WOULDDEFINITELYRECOMMEND.

The foooooood!!! Phenomenal. I guess we can stop there because that’s all that matters! Ok, real positives and negatives: + fresh fresh sushi. large portions, interesting rolls… lots of unique things. + cozy, no techno or dance music + the staff is very nice. + free item«from the chef» + water refills keep coming — slow service. very slow. — décor is lacking… but I personally can over look that. that’s it! the positives outweigh the negatives… check it out! Volcano roll!

The fried rice with beef had a mix of chopped up veggies and tasted fresh. The shrimp tempura and sauce was really good. Defs worth the price for what u get. This is a no brainer and cant wait to try more stuff next time!

Truly a 5 star experience for me, from start to finish. Please note that I am comparing this place to other places located on long island and places that are in the same price range. I am NOT comparing Kushi Sushi to Sushi Yasuda or Nobu… just a disclaimer. Who would have thought, a small, hole in a wall type place that puts out amazing sushi. We haven’t tried much of their raw fish assortment, but a few of the cooked fish items we had were absolutely amazing. They made sure that the rolls not only taste good, they also present them in a beautiful way. The prices are moderate, their special rolls may seem expensive, but trust me, they are large. Regular rolls are great as well, I especially liked how little rice they used… yum! Service was great as well, we left very happy. Excited to have found this place. I would recommend you check it out!

We lucked out, and thanks to good Unilocal reviews, we found this great sushi restaurant. The sushi chefs went out of their way to please us, recognizing that we were new customers. They appeared to have many regulars who add to the friendly casual environment. Across the street there was a free music in the park show going on, so it was a festive summer night, with some customers dining outside in front. This was some of the best, freshest sushi I’ve had in awhile and a great value. I ended up with a large amount, which held me over perfectly the next day for an early morning flight from NY to SF. It felt so good, I just may make this my routine in the future.

AHHHH I definitely want to go back and eat all the sushi again. I ordered so much and I honestly thought my bill will rank over 1 bill. but it was around $ 75 including tax and tip. not so bad wow $ 75? not really. Especially for what I ordered. — Dozen of oysters — shared with my fellow derby mate V-Rap. We definitely able to eat all the foods. My food partner in crime. — I ordered the Sashimi platter that has 21 pieces of fresh fish. — 3 California Uni(sea urchin) sushi — I should have just ordered the sashimi… I end up not really eating the rice — 1 or 2 eel sushi. Not sure why but it’s a must with rice. Can’t eat it by itself. I probably can but I prefer to eat it with rice. I believe I ordered 2 because wtheck…1 is just not enough. — a whole order of sashimi clam. If you saw the picture post I posted on their Unilocal page… it’s a beautiful thing. Definitely tasty, but I also think it’s a required taste… same goes with the Uni. I had my friends try it and one of them definitely didn’t like it. I do want to come back and get the whole order of the scallops. Now that looks amazingly good. So I am so going to be back here for sure. — We also got a free appetizer from the Chef. Thank You Chef. It was delicious. Forgot the name of it but if you show the picture I have posted to the chef… you should try it. I was completely full after all that. next time no rice =] The service was great. they came when needed and didn’t interrupt us when we were in deep conversation because I have been at a restaurant where the waitress kept coming back and talking it up… especially when we were talking. So awkward.

I was expecting more due to the reviews, but I could only go middle of the road here. Let me start by saying the service was excellent. It’s a small, local place but the wait staff were equally attentive to me as well as the regulars The presentation of the food was very artistic and well done. The appetizer was a «creation» and the rolls were very colorful. The sushi itself? That’s where it was just OK. I had Unagi, Tuna and Salmon. It was all a little soft like it was not fresh and all the rolls were covered in some type of sauce which overpowered the main ingredient. I think this has people fooled. Good sushi should be able to stand on its own. Don’t get me wrong, the rolls all had a unique taste, but it wasn’t 4 stars due to the sushi.

Kushi is terrific as are the folks that own the place and work there. You will always enter with a hearty hello from the staff and be treated to some great items. Often, they place a free sashimi appetizer on your table. I just wish they would get rid of the circa 1990 sponge painted walls and make the place a little more inviting inside.

I thought the sushi was very good at a very reasonable price. We all had the lunch combos, which were a decent size and fish was good. Would definitely go back. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean.

At this moment, my list for Kushi Sushi stands at 38. That’s 38 different dishes I’ve tried here. Sure, not every dish is an absolute winner here, but I’d say at least 2⁄3 of then I would and have ordered again. People ask me why I have such a hard time recommending things despite my list and all I can tell then is there’s too many good rolls. I wish I could have a full menu buffet of this place just so I can figure out what my favorite things are here but to be perfectly honest I doubt it I would actually make progress. In any case, a few things I would try your first time here(things that stand out in my memory right now): Crazy Salmon(Appetizer) Eric Roll Koo Roll Other than that, getting chirashi is a pretty safe bet. Their salmon and mackerel is pretty solid. Again, it depends on your taste, but almost everything here is great. As an added bonus, the chef will often give you a dish courtesy of the house. On that note, the service here is also stellar. If you don’t mind a small selection of CDs, you can come here every day and get to know the wait staff – most of whom are always there. They’re extremely friendly, patient, and accommodating. If you become a regular, the entire staff will greet you warmly every time you come. While this place doesn’t always fill up, there isn’t a lot of seating(probably less than 30 people max.). I’d make a reservation if you’re coming for dinner, though I’ve rarely had problems. After trying virtually every sushi place near me, including some decent names like Kotobuki and Aji 53, I can safely say that Kushi is simply a cut above. It’s not LA sushi, but it’s among the closest you’ll get on LI. Maybe I’ll update this when I finally hit every item on the menu. I certainly hope to.

Great place! Got the White Tiger Roll and teriyaki chicken to share. Also the Jalapeño puffs are a MUST! Quick and friendly service. Be sure you know how to use chop sticks. Kids get forks. The location is misleading. This place is a little oasis in a deserted little plaza. Will be going back again!

How is it possible that I have lived Approx. 2.5 minutes away from this place and never tried it? Shame on me… Went today with my silly health obsessed daughter– for was GREAT. It is christmas eve so it was a nice friendly calm place to be compared to the insanity blooming everywhere else with the last minute shoppers. Not only was the service super friendly, but fast AND thoughtful. I didn’t have to ask for anything else they knew what I needed like… like your mom would… anticipating everything. I thought… I hope the food is as good. My daughter got the sushi lunch which came with soup & salad about $ 11 –I got the three rolls for the same which also came with salad and soup. The ginger citrus dressing on the salad was fit for a god. I had this before but not as good as this place. I also ordered shumai and tempura appetizers. all delish. I also noticed they really give a huge amount of vegetables for the tempura, including green beans. I was impressed. The dipping sauce had a bit of lemon pulp and ginger added it was delightful and refreshing! The fish was very fresh and the did not mess up a thing on my pain in the butt changes to everything which usually happens anywhere i go. The chef kindly sent out a «crazy salmon appetizer» complementary for us to try. I hare salmon but it looked interesting so I said hell with it and tried one. Do you know why there is no picture of it for you to see here? Because I inhaled them. I didn’t even pause to take a picture it was so good. We had banana tempura with vanilla ice crème and chocolate drizzle(to split) which we nearly got into a fight over. This place is my new favorite. Oh and… they frikken deliver. Bam.

With all the great reviews I had to come here and try it out. Came here and had the sashimi deluxe, eel avocado roll, and salmon crunch roll to go. The sashimi pieces were generously sized and cut nicely. The salmon was my favorite followed by the yellowtail. The others, mackerel, white tuna, etc were ok. The rolls were good. Everything tasted good but pretty standard so I’m not sure it really stands out from the rest of the places that serve sushi.

I love when you walk in, the staff stops what they’re doing and makes sure they greet you — even the chefs! Interior is quite cute, and has got some comfy seating and great layout setup for approx 50 ppl+/-?. Our waitress was adorably friendly and the chef came by to get to know us. I ordered the spicy tuna with avocado, but was pretty unsatisfied… too much avocado, too little rice… overall just mushiness. I was expecting more crunchiness within. My BF ordered the sushi/sashimi delux which he liked. p. s. he’s japanese… so he knows his sashimi.
