The Beach Hut Deli is no longer at this location. It has moved to Grass Valley. That’s why I gave it one star. Their food is not what I’m interested in, but the one time I had a gigantic sandwich there, it was OK. It would rate two or three stars, but if the business is gone, I can’t rate it higher than one.

I would NEVERNEVERNEVER go back here! Not just because they have some of the most over priced mediocre food I have ever had either! Here is my view of my visit with my family: While eating lunch with my husband, my dad AND my 2 kids(1 and 2yo), a «park person»(homeless or between jobs girl) came in to get water(mind you it’s hot) and the staff started verbally attacking this girl angrily saying she was not welcome and needed to get out, even coming out from behind the counter to yell at her to leave! As she leaves they then begin to talk trash about her and how sucked up and nasty she is and the park people are wastes of life. I was irritated on so many levels!!! 1. I’m eating with my family, children are present! 2. The lack of professionalism was shocking! 3. I’m worried about that poor girl who needs water because it is hot! Drug addict, homeless or not, everyone should be treated with respect! So I decide to run out after her and offer to buy her a drink. I get outside and notice this guy over 6 feet chasing her off… I go back inside and try to finish my meal and continue to listen to them trash the«park people». My 2 year old is staring at them mocking the girl and I decide not to finish the food and just take him outside so he would miss the completely inappropriate behavior of the staff. I asked the staff for the name of the manager on my way out and she told me their owner«Cindy» was outside. Then the girl proceeds to get confrontational with me because I don’t agree with how they treat people. I walked away from her. Outside I run into ‘Cindy’ who is with another chunky blonde girl and 2 men standing between 511 and 64(Im small, 53 and 120) I asked to make sure that she was the owner and then I told her that I did not appreciate the unprofessional behavior of her staff to the homeless girl. She then started a volley of rebuttals justifying their treatment of homeless, curse words included! My son is right there! How unprofessional! I then proceeded to tell her that it’s not the homeless people that are driving me away from her business but her lack of professionalism and respect for people, me included! The things they said about people who hang out in the park seriously irritated me, the volley of rebuttals that lacked any sort of brain processing was also disappointing, the lack of remorse for behaving so poorly in front of paying customers and children is disheartening but the next part did me in, her friend actually ran at me like she was going to hit me. No joke. The fat one. The guy put out his arm as if to stop her and when she saw that I didn’t flinch, she stopped and said its cause she had to use the bathroom and then attempted to nudge past me. I had my 2 year old son with me. Who does that to a person who is pushing a stroller with their 2 year old running around their legs?! WTH? I was shocked but then I thought about how they chased off that homeless girl, the 6 foot guy outside chasing her down. Just like that girl, I never raised my voice. I wasn’t even close to as verbally confrontational because me kid was there. So apparently because I complained about the treatment of others they consider appalling, I also get ran at! I walked away from them and strapped my 2 year old into the stroller, turn around and walk back in to get my dad and husband. My husband is angrily cleaning up the food and proceeds to tell me how the owner comes in mocking me and talking trash about me in front of my family. You cannot get worse than this place! This business does not deserve a single persons business or hard earned cash and I implore you to NEVER go here!

Price for the sandwiches are pretty expensive($ 9 for a medium) but when I could split it with my boyfriend and be satisfied, it could have been worse. The sandwich tasted good and fresh. It was well made and presented. I didn’t think a whole lot of the staff attitude, but they got my order right, made a decent sandwich, and brought it to my table when it was ready, so for a wait-yourself place I can overlook that, right? It’s a chain and I’ve been to them before in other areas. The surfboard tables are kinda cool. In the area again, I’ll probably try some other places before going back, but it’s not off my list.

Most of the sammies taste the same, as they most all have the same ingredients. The worst part is their prices!!! Waaaaayyyy to expensive for a sandwich. I believe for my husband and I to go for sammies and pop it was like $ 25!!!

Day after Independence Day 2011 rolled to the Nevada City for a couple of drinks @ the Mine Shaft the bartender told us we should grab some sandwiches @ the Beach Hut wat a pleasant surprise. Once we walked in there I didn’t feel like we were in Nevada City anymore good atmosphere & sandwiches the price is right too. Beach Hut Deli has small, medium or large sandwiches. I ordered the Pig Kahuna & my friends split a medium Pastrami Sandwich they were very pleased as well. The staff & owner are very friendly so if u ever find yourself in this neighborhood check it out I also here that they have one in Auburn.

Just ok sandwiches, nothing special. No better then subway, and to be in Nevada City, and eat here is crazy. People who work there also do not have the charm that most of the people working in Nevada City restaurants have. But if you must have a subway, then go there in grass valley it’s cheaper. Last sandwich I had there was ok, but not anything to write home about. The bread was a bit past it’s date, and the meat tasted fake, at least the turkey I had did.

ew. my stomach hurts just thinking about the mess of a sandwich I just ate. Now granted I’m a vegetarian, and there are only 2(?!) vegetarian options on their enormous menu– avocado with cream cheese and avocado with sprouts. woo– pretty creative. I ordered the California. It was the most tasteless sandwich I have ever eaten– a flavorless white roll smothered in mayo(and they forgot the mustard!!!) with way too much avocado to eat in one sitting and so many sprouts that the sandwich fell apart when I tried to eat it. Subway sandwiches are much tastier than this(and I stopped eating at Subway years ago). It’s pretty hard to mess up a vegetarian sandwich with avocado and sprouts but after eating there I am feeling like staying away from anything with avocado or mayonnaise for awhile. For the same price, the Broad St. Bistro has a wide variety of creative, delicious sandwiches and paninis. I won’t be eating here ever again.

I don’t know what these people are talking about pricey! Their small is larger than most can eat and bigger than other place’s large. When I compare pre-made(not fresh) sandwiches with other places and Port of Subs or Subway, no competition with price or sheer volume. Fresh is the real secret here. I can’t believe more people don’t know about this place. Yes, I support local, and this is a chain, but it is a local owner(I think) and the service is much better. At least give it one try… Also, the first time I came here the menu took some reading and the server was more than patient and willing to accommodate my boyfriend’s unique aversion to certain ingredients.

So happy to find good sandwiches in Nevada City… The lady wouldn’t change the channel to the World Cup, but i’m quick to forgive. Fantastic pastrami, and generous portions. A little pricey for sandwiches, but I could have taken half home and still been full. Great spot.

This is the stand by for going out to lunch for me when I’m in town. Often times a couple times a week. Order small… as I can’t imagine actually eating a large or medium and not exploding. I’m partial to the Hobie… and I try to branch out but its just so good.

I got a little behind on my reviews. We were up here for the Mardi Gras parade on Feb 14, and stopped here for lunch before the parade. We had one large pastrami, and two medium pipeline pups. It was a bit pricy, but still acceptable, considering the occasion. The pastrami had tons of goodies in the sandwich, and a very generous portion of pastrami. This served two of us, and left us absolutely stuffed. The pipeline was a jumbo dog with tons of accessories too. This is a neat place inside, and decorated in surfing theme. The staff was friendlly, and invited us to take as many beads was we wanted!

been going to beach hut since there was only one, and it was called«Beach House» I sometimes crave their samis so badly i would gladly travel many miles to eat one. and have. order a tall boy of «eye of the hawk» to go with your sandwich. (its part of the initiation)

My wife and I have been to Beach Hut several times now. The service has been great. We have always been greated with a smile. The staff is very polite, something the owners should be proud of! We have not had a bad visit! We feel the food is great. The size of a Med. sandwich is BIG. The atmosphere inside is FUN. The shop is very clean inside. The new building Beach Hut is in, is a great addition to downtown Nevada City! Beach Hut is a breath of fresh air to Nevada City. I will recommend Beach Hut to anyone!

a group of 8 for lunch. they forgot two orders entirely, and only promised to give them free sandwhiches next time, when they should have comped them, then and there! 3 of us had turkey sandwhiches, most of which went un-eaten. The roast beef sandwhich was good, but the nachos tasted like velveeta. granted the portions are quite generous, but a lot of mediocre food isn’t a good thing.

I have been to the Beach Hut three times since they have opened(about a month ago). I really like the big selection of sandwiches they have and all the ones i have had are really good. My favorites so far are the beach bikini or the north shore! It’s a fun atmosphere and it’s always busy. The only thing that bothers me when i go here is that the girls have there hair down when making the sandwiches. I haven’t found a hair yet, but it’s bound to happen.

My family ate at the Beach Hut Deli over the weekend and LOVED it! They were pretty busy and it seemed like some of the customers were irritated at the amount of time it took to receive their sandwiches, but COMEON people! They are making your meal to order, it cannot just appear out of nowhere! The food was great; I had the beach bikini which is turkey, cranberry sauce, cream cheese, mayo, sunflower seeds & sprouts on wheat. Delicious!
