This place closed in February. Judging from the fascinating articles in the Union newspaper, it is unlikely to reopen.

This review is for their sushi section… After reading this review, I may feel differently about being so generous in my star hand outs. So we waited. My parents and I waited for such a long time at our table… watching the girl who sat us so patiently eat her food. We were there for 10 minutes and finally somebody figured our situation out. A young boy came to our rescue, or so I thought. The couple who arrived 10 minutes after we did was waited on and served before us! Don’t you hate when that happends?!? He had no recommendations as far as food, apps or drinks go. When he brought out my nasty black cherry martini, it spilled. a lot… it was not apologized for or replenished. I could tell he was very new. but this was getting ridiculous! Someone should be helping him! My dad and I ordered oyster shooters, which were off the hook great. The shooters were huge!!! Expensive but worth it. We, also, had an order of edamame served to us under cooked and still frozen, without salt and without the dish necessary for disposing of your soy bean casings… argh! This is already into the night 30 minutes! They never bothered to ask us if we needed another drink. Finally we order our food, we ask the white sushi chef what was popular… The Jakoda roll is their most popular and it is very average… and unimpressive. We may have taken 1 bite out of the calamari roll, it tasted like squid jerky, it was luke warm and disgusting. of course we were still charged an exorbitant amount. The table got more and more cluttered with dishes, and food we weren’t eating, and the service aids never bothered to ask if they could clear anything or how our food was. The played the same Strokes CD over and over, this place is a form of torture to the senses and then the wallet. BOO!

My friend and I decided to meet here to have a few drinks and dinner tonight. The waitress brought us waters, chips and salsa while we looked at the menu. We both decided to order a drink, and yes they are expensive but they seem to compare to everywhere else around town. The tangerine margarita was really tasty! For dinner i ordered a bowl of the tortilla soup. The presentation was nice and the soup tasted good but it wasn’t really tortilla soup. It was more like vegetable soup with tortilla strips on top. When i think of tortilla soup, i think of a little more spice and kick. But it still tasted good. The waitress was a little slow to bring us our checks but it didn’t really matter because i wasn’t in a hurry. Also, we had to ask 3 times for a box for leftovers. All in all it was an alright experience food wise. I would probably go here again.

$ 8 for the«Cadillac» Margarita which was made with Cuervo? Um, what a rip off! I couldn’t stomach $ 12 for chimichangas so I tried the quesadilla. I figured if a Mexican restaurant couldn’t figure out a flour tortilla and cheese that would be my answer. It was alright. The sour cream and guacamole it came with seemed straight from a can or supermarket. Honestly, I don’t see what people like about this place when there are better local spots for good music and beers.

I guess I don’t have much to review this place on, but I figured I’d throw in my two cents. I went here just to get some margaritas before going to dinner elsewhere. We were seated outside on the patio, like we asked for. But the flies were almost unbearable. This may be because of the river, but I would think that there would be some sort of bug repellent candles. There were too many chips for the small amount of salsa that we were given, but they did refill it right after it was gone. The margaritas are $ 7.50 each(!!) and the waitress said that buying a pitcher wouldn’t save us any money. The pomegranate was ok, but the mango was delicious! Our waitress was extremely quite, and very hard to hear over the noise of the river, she just gave off the vibe that she was kind of confused. But, this doesn’t necessarily translate into bad service.

Okay — this place gets 2 stars because it has some pretty awesome sushi rolls and also because of their social/music scene. But the service is awful! I went with some friends and we waited an hour and a half until we got 3 of our 5 rolls. At the two hour mark we got one more roll, and a few minutes later finally our last roll. We never recieved our nigiri. When I asked the waitress about the nigiri she said the chef was just making it. Honestly, how long does it take to put a piece of fish over rice? I canceled the order of nigiri but she miraculously came out with it a few seconds later. I NEVER complain at restaurants, this is the first time I ever have — but it was ridiculous. At no point did anyone offer to give us some free drinks, a free roll or anything. In fact, our drinks never even got refilled. We had to keep asking. I might have felt a pang of pity for the waitress if the restaurant had been busy, but it was DEAD. I finally complained to the manager and we got some money taken off our bill. But I have worked as a waitress and I know that if your customers are sitting there waiting for their food for even 45 minutes you should offer them something for free. We sat there for TWO hours and didn’t even get our food. This place needs to step up the service if it is going to last — restaurants come and go in that location and even though their food is very good, they need to step up the service in order to survive. I hate to bash on a restaurant, but honestly, I was very upset when I left.

We gave this place a shot since it was very close to our hotel, and we figured Mexican would be a good«budget» choice for dinner. The restaurant is a nice pleasant place with outdoor seating looking down on a creek. The downside was that it wasn’t very budget, at least not by our Bay Area standards. Plates ranged from about $ 10 – 20, which I would guess would be 50% more than a comparable restaurant in San Francisco. But the food was good, plentiful, and the service was nice. The seating by the creek was very pleasant too, but as a general complaint(not that the restaurant could do anything about it,) the clowns on the Harlies are still quite audible over the pleasant rush of the creek. Give it a try!

All I have to say is yum! Perfect destination on our hunt for a late night dinner in Nevada City. Not many places were still serving food after 9pm, but luckily we followed the advice of a NC native and ate here. I never knew rice could taste so good, and delicious chicken tortilla soup! Our dinners were yummy and our bellies full at the end of the night. I wish I had two stomachs because the food was so good I wanted to eat more! The bartender was nice, beer was cold, and live band groovy. What more could you ask for?
