Pleasant, in terms of the food– yum!
However, walked in at 8:05 thinking it closed at 10. I guess they close at 9 and start closing down an hour early. We were rushed and the eyes of the staff were rolling. Left my glass of wine, scarfed my food. Bummed. I work in the customer service industry. You never know who your customers are. No one even said a word, just shoved chairs around and cleaned around us. It is a franchise, «who cares» right?

Currently having the Black and Blue salad consisting of Angus beef, Gorgonzola cheese (my favorite), blue cheese, cherry tomatoes and more. It was delicious! Truly high quality and fresh ingredients and I loved that the salads came already tossed. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and it was an overall great first time experience. Can’t wait to try the one in San Marcos!

5 stars isn’t really enough for this place. First time in 2 weeks ago. Been back 3 times in 2 weeks. The staff is wonderful, the dining room is spotless clean and the food is outta this world delicious.

I use to love coming to this place! However the last couple times I have been its gone down hill. Tonight I unrolled my fork & knife to find a nasty fork with dried food on it. My son unrolled his and his fork was the same. It was disgusting. I didn’t even want to use the napkin that the fork was rolled in. There were food crumbs all over the tables, chairs and floor. I asked the waitress to wipe off our table and she used a dirty rag that left gross streak marks on the table. The ultimate salad I usually always get every time barely had any meat in it. Very disappointed. Ever since a new GM took over the place it’s gone down hill. The new GM is rude and very sloppy looking, he doesn’t even tuck it his shirt. I will not come back. Such a shame because I loved this place.

So disappointed by this location. Let me start by stating that I go to the Arboretum Newks pretty often… But this location was pretty crappy.
What we ordered: one club sandwich, no mayo and one ultimate salad Togo.
First, the sandwich: the bread on the sandwich wasn’t cooked all of the way. They didn’t put mayo on it, but they also didn’t put the honey mustard on it. So we ended up with a soggy but dry sandwich. Also, we didn’t get our fruit side that we ordered.
Second, the salad was waaaay smaller than the one I usually get. ½ the lettuce was inedible… Limp, and at least a few days old… I’m really confused by why it was so much smaller.
Service was super slow, the counter girl didn’t seem to know what she was doing. After waiting 5+ minutes at the Togo counter she finally walked out. I told her my name for the order and she grabbed my bag and handed it to me… Before I paid… So I had to juggle my wallet and purse and this bag to get my cash. After I gave her $ 20 on a $ 18.66 total, she just stared at me, and then at the screen, and then back to me. I finally just told her to keep the change and left because it looked like she was going to have to ask for help to get the change.
Also, only got one set of silverware for two items…
Overall, will not be returning to this location.

Great sandwich, soup and pizza place. I’ve had most of their soups, a few salads, some sandwiches and a pizza and they are all wonderful. It’s our go to place

The soups are delicious. The salads are good. My daughter had a salmon sandwich and it was absolutely disgusting. This place is hit and miss. Find something you like an stick to it. People up front aren’t very nice — thought it was just me but it was like that the three times we’ve been.

Pretty good… you order as you enter & the food is brought to your table. Reminds me of a McCallisters with a few more «fancy» items on the menu. The portions are huge & can easily be shared amongst two people. The price was good for the quality & service was on point. Will be back for sure. The reason for the four star instead of five is only because the concept of this restaurant is not new & it had a bit of a diner feel.

I was impressed with the variety of their menu. I had the half Italian with the lobster bisque. It was obviously more food than I needed but was perfect for me not being a me to make yo my mind. I love their motto on fresh foods, made in store, quality verse quantity, the bakery, as well as being confident enough in their food to have an open kitchen. I will definitely be returning! Pizza is next on my list!

The food is good, BUT very little of it .My soup was less than ½ a bowl. I asked the waiter where the rest of my soup was, he said you get one ladle per bowl.
At least they should serve their soup in smaller bowls. You wouldn’t feel so cheated.

My husband and I were looking for a place we could order online and pick up while we were out shopping with the 3 yr old. I’m a pizza fanatic, so I was excited to try theirs. My hubby wanted something light and my picky son goes nuts over fruit and pizza.
This place has a pretty good selection of sandwiches, pizza and salads. They don’t have all their soups available every day, but still a good selection.
The online ordering process is simple and straightforward. You can choose your pick up time. There was no wait for our order when we came to pick it up. My husband had the ½ turkey and cup of chili combo which was delicious. I got the 4oz fruit cup for my son (they have several size options). The fruit was very fresh and sweet. I had the pepperoni and sausage pizza with sauce. It is, by far, the best pizza I’ve had in the San Antonio area aside from Grimaldi’s (as long as they’re having a good sauce day). The portions were perfect and everything was under $ 20.
While we’ve been to the area several times, we just moved here and I can say it is the first on our list of favorite places. I will be coming here again and again.

This a panera-​esk place. The prices are similar also. I just wanted a cup of soup and half salad but was told no three times at the register on what I wanted. So I ordered a full Newks favorite salad and cup of hoppin john soup for 14 $ at lunch. They came out with these giant portions that irritated me a bit. I just wanted a small salad and a cup of soup. The recessed lemon container kind of grossed me out when I saw my own booger picking kids reaching over the lemons to fill their drinks. Bad idea…
The giant Newks salad was good but have no pretense that it is healthy for you. I would guess you would be better off eating a combo meal at McDs if you are watching your waistline. The condiment bar was cool. The roasted garlic was good. The salty capers and sweet pickles not so much.
The bread sticks from Italy tasted stale. If I wasnt told no at the counter three times I would give the four stars based on taste, quality and atmosphere. Since you couldn’t work with me and give me a ½ newks favorite salad and a cup of soup you get 3. I don’t have that issue at their bread focused competitor.

My initial visit to this location was not like my previous visits at other locations. The food was great but service was lacking. Upon ordering the cashier handed us our cups but for some reason she chose to hand them to us with her fingers inside the cup. Again, this is the cashier who’s handling money putting her filthy hands in my cup.
Once our order was taken, we took a seat. The restaurant is clean and still looks new, even the bathroom. We were a party of three, all under the same order number, and a server brings out one plate. After serving the one plate, he takes the number and says, «Enjoy.» and walks away. I had to call over to him and let him know we still have two more plates to come. He returns the number, makes no apology or confirmation of order, he simply walks away; eventually our food arrived.
Based on this visit, Newk’s has earned three stars for food quality and restaurant cleanliness, outside of cashier. I hope the service issue is due to the fact that this location is relatively new and not the norm.

I stood there for ten minutes before a staff member even came out of the back and noticed I was waiting to order. The sandwich I ordered was good, but it took a long time and I was the only one in there! I was in a hurry and almost had to leave without my food. Could’ve just been a bad day for them, but the food wasn’t impressive enough for me to wait that long.

Nice new fast casual restaurant with diverse menu and good food. Our meal was fast fresh and tasty. I’m only giving 3 stars for the lack of cleanliness and seeming ignorance of how bad it is on this Sunday afternoon. We chose our table by process of elimination. One after another non bussed table and garbage on tile floor. Finally found clean table but garbage on floor. Soon discovered the table crew sitting at table together in front of restaurant taking a break with manager. Ate our meal got ready to leave in time to see crew start to clean. I’m sure they will save the cleaning of our table for the next crew. It’s sad when Management can’t instill a sense of pride into the staff, it appears management doesn’t have a needed sense of pride. If I eat here again I will get it to go!

We call this place Jason’s Deli 2.0 because:
1. You order, pay, find a seat and your food is bright to you.
2. Fresh ingredients.
3. Quality is a notch above JD
4. Food costs a little more (but worth it)
5. Similar offerings of sounds, sales and sandwiches but better and they have pizzas!
Things I have tried and liked: chicken Caesar salad. Pepperoni pizza. Turkey sandwich. Oh chicken salad is served warm! Yum.
Their soups rotate and they have an area on the right that has food already put together so you can grab and go.
There is a little free area of bread sticks, crackers and such in the middle. The menu is a little overwhelming and people stand there for long periods of times trying to decide. When you drive by it looks super busy but it is because people line up in the front to place orders.
We have been 4 times and will return. Oh, they are known for their Mac and cheese. It was pretty good.

This was my first visit to Newk’s. My dad, husband, and I went for lunch a little after one, and it was decently busy, as most restaurants are when they first open around here. Our overall experience was positive, with two negatives, which I’ll start with:
1) My dad and husband both got tea, one non-​sweet and one pre-​sweetened with Splenda. They both commented on how weak the taste was, so that is something they need to work on.
2) I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with no tomatoes or mustard, leaving it with the chicken, bacon, Swiss cheese, romaine lettuce (not shredded! Yea!), and mayo. When it was brought out, the girl read back the order, which was correct, but the sandwich was not. She took it back to get it corrected. After it was corrected, I ate two bites and realize that I couldn’t taste the mayo. It was in the middle of the sandwich ingredients instead of on the bread. I also noticed that the cheese looked like it had just been peeled from the previous sandwich and put on the new one and not even re-​melted. The overall flavor was bland, mainly tasting the chicken and bread. I was able to get more mayo and some of the roasted garlic they have on the condiments table, add them to the sandwich, and was content with the results despite still not tasting the cheese or bacon much, if at all.
The better parts:
My dad ordered Newk’s Club with fruit for the side and my husband ordered The Royal with pasta salad for the side. Both of them were very please with their meals, though they didn’t really elaborate beyond ‘it was really good’. :)
The best part:
The strawberry cake! My dad ordered it and was nice enough to share. It was excellent and very flavorful! My husband is sensitive to overly sweet food, and he said it was well balanced in the sweetness. I just thought it was yummy. If I hadn’t already had my birthday, I would want this for my cake.
I will most definitely be visiting again, as there are many menu items I want to try. I am also looking forward to cooler weather to try some of their soups. The prices are reasonable and the staff was very helpful. I hope this is a restaurant that sticks around for a while.

Fresh! Family friendly! DELISH! We had the Mediterranean pizza and Newk’s favorite salad. This. Salad. Is. Aaaammmazzzing! No need to go to the other restaurants around the area.
The complimentary items are also fresh and have such a wide variety. I love Newk’s!

This place is excellent! Soups, sandwiches, salads, pizza and desserts! Very fresh and healthy! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are great sizes! My new favorite place in town!
