Back in my college days, I used to frequent Glo, not because it was great but because of convenience. The place was usually a hit or miss. The DJ was usually good depending on who was playing that night. The drinks are subpar but usually came at a discounted price so I can’t quite complain there. The crowd is also usually off and on several occasions the night ended with a fight outside. If you’re not into easton bars and not quite ready for the fancy bars or other conservative new brunswick spots, then give this place a shot. It could be a hit for you.

OMG! JUAN(the bartender) Is sooo awesome! He has the best shots I’ve ever had in my life, no lie. Whenever you go to Glo, which is so cute, ask for Juan at the bar!

Horrible service! Had to order my drink from the bar after watching waiters go to other tables. Only good thing was the music was. 3 out of 5.

Glo was pretty empty but we were there to get a price on group private party. They were very helpful. Left our request and information for mgr to call us back. I always have a good time at Glo. DJ was rocking it tonight.

Wanting to get into tequila, I was surprised to learn Glo — a place I’ve avoided previously — is actually called Glo Lounge & Tequila Bar, with a fancy tequila menu online with flights and a special on Thursdays for $ 2 Tacos and half priced tequila drinks I suckered a couple friends in to joining me on an adventure. I’m mainly going to judge this on being called a «Tequila Bar», not a lounge. Any who, we showed up at 7:40PM and no one was in the bar, no workers, nothing. We waited for a couple minutes and were like OK, we’ll come back later — sign said open at 7PM. Come back at 8:30PM and now there was one person working, but was more the manager than a bartender. No biggie, time for tequila time. Ordered one round of tacos — 1 chicken, 1 beef, 1 bean. Came out little later and they were meh, standard taco bell style quick tacos. More worth $ 1 than $ 2, but we were at a lounge so moving on. We really all wanted to try the Jalapeño tequila, but crazy enough they were out of it! That eliminated a good third of the tequila drinks on the menu. Some excuse about taking 2 weeks to make — I guess they can’t visually see when it is running out!!!(SARCASM) Anyway, I get the house margarita to get a baseline drink — says it comes with fresh squeezed lime juice, but the bar tender put tequila in and everything else came straight from the fountain. And it was served with an orange slice?!? My buddy ordered the 3Gs Margarita and the bartender definitely squeezed some limes into that and was the best of our 3 drinks, but it came at a premium. The manager made these first drinks and then left us in the hands of one of the bartenders for the night. Wanting to try something more than a standard margarita I asked to try the Bloody Martini — jalapeño slices, sangrita, etc. — has to be good. I was informed they didn’t have jalapeño tequila, I said the drink doesn’t come with it, she then replies we don’t have Jalapeño slices. OK, umm, I guess I’ll have a tequila sunrise!!! That came standard, but very sugary. Other friend got a Tequila Mojito and was decent, but lots of sugar as well. Tried ordering french fries with gravy and cheese AKA disco fries, was told they didn’t have any gravy, so cheese fries it was. Asked for ketchup and the ketchup we got was pretty awful. In summary, this is NOT a good tequila bar, it is a lounge first and foremost. They did not seem well stocked in all the things we actually wanted either. Food was meh. Not a single other person showed up the entire time we were there, but knowing it is a lounge we weren’t concerned or cared. We left around 9:30 and went to the liquor store and bought 5 bottles of tequila and did our own tasting.

I attended your establishment on Saturday. A very great place and environment that my friends and I enjoyed a great deal, until the DJ you have employed was a total jerk. We went to the bar to grab some drinks and wanted to celebrate our friends 28 birthday with some drinks and dancing! I went up to the DJ to request a song as I saw others were and we wanted him to play«work bitch» by Britney. I received a disgusting reply hell * expletive* no! I was first taken back by the language he used, an then stunned that he wouldn’t play the song, yet play other songs that were being requested! I frequent glo a lot, and wanted to bring my friends because I knew they would have a great time, which we did. Until the DJ ruined out night completely! We spent over 150 combined in your establishment, and last time I checked business is business and you should do anything to satisfy a paying customer. I will not visit again, which is sad because I have so much love for the place but could you please have a chat with the DJ that was spinning Saturday night. His behavior was unacceptable and quite frankly it doesn’t seem like he cares about the business side of things, just his taste! His name was DJ Chris

The dj was the best part about this place. The service was slow, very hot and small. Also at the end of the night there was a huge brawl outside the place and I asked the bouncer if I can wait inside until it was cleared and he said no we are closed. I felt that was very unnecessary.

I wished there was a negative star I could have given for this shitty place. The waitress had no clue what the menu was. We ordered veg spring rolls. The description said it comes with noodles but the actual item never came with noodles. When asked she said she had no clue why there is a mismatch. Then she checked with the chef and he said they stopped doing the noodles. I mean seriously? Then I ordered a tequila shot and she said they don’t have it. They charge shit load of money for their items but cannot hire competitive staff! And on top of that you are supposed to give your drivers license to them for the entire time you are seating as if we are thieves. This is a screwed up place! Go there if you wish to waste your money…

–Great Dj! — spins the latest in hip hop and spanish music. Different dj each time ive been in, + im not a huge fan of hip hop but theyve done a great job with their dj selection. –Saturday night my friend and i knocked down two drinks for 8 $ — In the heart of george st — surrounded by other bars, starbucks, chipotle. Great location adjacent to church st parking lot. –This sat was no cover, but i dont remember there ever being cover. — Bouncers was pushy once– i bitched back at him and he apologized lol. It was funny. — Ive seen a fight break out once and staff did a good job of diffusing it. –2 bathroom stalls located in the back– almost always clean — There are a few tables and chairs in cozy locations and two bars to roll up to. Dont get it twisted though, the place is SMALL and can get extremely crowded once dancing begins. — Dress attire– buisness-chic? Idk, you can come in after work or take a few hours getting ready. I have never seen anyone dress down in anything less than a pair of tight jeans with high heels. Ive been here 3 times, and each time we had tons of fun. So whether you bring a friend, a sig other or come out with your friends, its a good time.

So i really wanted to say that this place ia pretty good compare to their neighbours lolz. I was here about year n half a go for the first time with the man I like n was dating. My first impression for the bar was not that exciting. It was small but clean n with good ambience. Not to dark, not to many strove lights that gives headache lolz… i loved chilling at this place bc I love the music. DJ is awesome and played some amazing music. Hip-pop, music that can move your body all night. I m very picky n if i like some place that means it’s good. Def mudic that will keep party pumping all night. I was at glow twice now and I enjoyed both the times. I was there for my bday about 9 months ago n I absolutly loved it again. Drink are good with reasonable prices. Beer were $ 5 bucks n $ 10 LITs n other drink. Not as expensive as NYC. It’s located at a very convinent place at the corner from the stress factory comedy club. bartender were ok n talkative which I like… lolz. One thing I would like to add its of you go really like ard 10 pm … it’s slow n dead but it def picks up its speed in fun n music ars 11.30 pm … so don’t be misguided by its looks n feel if you go early. ;) Overall I like this place n been here couple of times in last 1.8 years.

I have been to Glo twice and spent a total of 10 minutes here. I want to like this place but there is something that I am not feeling. Glo is not exciting and there are many other exciting bars in New Brunswick. It is a lounge so it is more relaxed than the other places. There is a DJ playing but the times I have been here no one was on the dance floor. The dance floor is very small and could probably fit about 10 people. If you are looking for a lounge with loud music then this place is for you. There is no cover fee so if you don’t like it at least you wouldn’t have wasted any money.

This is a cool little club in New Brunswick and perfect for the 12am to 2am crowd. You have to hang onto your socks here because the drinks are strong. Not for the immature liver. They have a DJ on weekends and if you ply him with enough drinks he will play anything you want. I had a really good time here but I was the oldest guy in the bar by far. It is really for the young, single people. I am neither.

It’s a smaller space, but the resident Friday night DJ(DJTrent) always gets the place hoppin’. It really picks up after 11pm when I often run into someone I know and end up having a great time. The jalapeño tequila is frightening, but in a decidedly good way.

Its was dead. Well…it was 8pm… so a «lounge», even a New Brunswick«lounge» would be dead. Scantilly-clad Rutgers(probably) students bartending and waitressing. $ 7 vodka sodas. Pop music blaring. T’sok.

I just can’t get into this place… As many times as I’ve gone out in New Brunswick, I’ve rarely ever came in here. The few times that I have stopped by haven’t been bad, but it hasn’t been too awesome either. One of the main issues is it seems to be just a little too young. And by too young, I mean barely 21 young. Because of this, you get a little bit of a college party vibe and I think it likely drives away some potential clientele. The venue itself is pretty nice and looks like the kind of place you would have the young professional crowd. But you end up with a different experience once inside. It just seems like an extension of the Easton ave bar scene, making this a high end college bar. If the clientele changed, I think this place would do better. It’s in a great location in the newer part of New Brunswick and there are young professionals moving in pretty consistently now. I think they need to cater to that crowd as I think it would make them more successful and ultimately being in more money.

The fact that I long ago determined that I will never, ever, ever enter Glo destined me to eventually wind up here. Destiny finally caught up with me last Friday night. It was a cold, cold, evening. We had greased the skids earlier with a boozy dinner at Novita in Metuchen, and now found ourselves packed like sardines drinking overrated martinis at Clydz in the New Brunswick. We needed some space, but we couldn’t agree where to go next. That argument spilled outside into the streets, with me vying for the Court Tavern(dive bar whore that I am), my one friend pushing for Catherine Lombardi, and my other friend pushing for Old Bay. As we make our way down to George Street, the bite of the cold gets worse and worse with each minute we continue to bicker. Finally, our fourth friend points to the corner and says, «well, it’s f-ing cold out so let’s just get a drink here and figure it out inside!» We look at where her finger is pointing, and it’s Glo! NO! Not Glo! I don’t really have any legitimate reason at this point to be so adverse to Glo. I’d never been there before. I do know it’s a lounge, and I feel like I never see people in there, and there’s always a big guy at the door, which usually means there will be a cover charge and mandatory coat check, which usually means you’ll be paying a lot of money for crappy drinks and even crappier music. But goddamn, it was cold, so we went in and rolled the dice, my destiny now complete. The big guy at door was very nice, and we were asked to check our coats, but there was no cover, which was a pleasant surprise. But as we stepped in, we immediately started to revolt against the music, which was your typical pop/dance/electronic crap that we old people are way too cool to listen to. We swore we’d be in for one and done, so we bellied up to the bar and started ordering. I ordered a Manhattan(surprise, surprise). The very attractive nice bartender leaned forward with a puzzled look and said, «Sorry, we don’t carry Manhattan.» Uhm… ok. So I ordered a vodka soda lime, four to be exact, and instantly realized I was speaking the correct language for the bartender to understand. There were only a few people in there, mostly younger girls, all decked out in their little club dresses, presumably ready to pounce on the first set of young stallions to walk through the door.(Unfortunately, that dream would go unrealized.) My buddy strolled up to the DJ and started a conversation with him about the music. Turns out, the DJ used to spin at one of our favorite, but long-defunct New Brunswick clubs from the 80s and early 90s called the Melody. He asked if we could change up the music a bit, and since we were the largest group in the room pumping out cash, he was nice enough to oblige. Depeche Mode was soon pumping out of the stereo and the entire mood changed for better.(Yeah, yeah, you annoying GenXers and your Depeche Mode.) Fast forward several hours, many, many drinks, and a total bar tab in the hundreds, and suddenly our«one and done» at Glo become our big night out. It didn’t get much more crowded as the night went on, but the service was good, the drinks were decently poured, and all in all we felt it was worth the time and expense we put in. We even managed to talk two more friends into coming over to join us. Not sure I’ll be running back to Glo any time soon, despite the positive review. It’s just not our scene. But there is something good to be said about a business willing to go out of their way to make its customers happy. And that’s exactly what they all did — bouncer, DJ, bartenders… all good peeps. Thanks for a good time!

A tequila bar for a birthday party? Why not? Jalapeño infused tequila may be the only way I drink good tequila from now on. You can’t beat the combination of spice and tequila burn. Want something really tasty? Go for the Blood Orange Jalapeño Margarita. I ordered one of those and didn’t look back. Like most of the drinks on the menu the margarita was $ 10 or $ 11. There is an extensive selection of tequilas at Glo, but do not fret if you are not a tequila person. Glo still stocks up on the usual fare and does offer bottle service. As far as the scenery goes, it’s typical swanky bar. Long tables, plush seats, if you are looking for a lounge scene you will get it. While I admit Glo is not my ideal hangout, I had fun here. It is definitely worth checking out.
