Bouncer said my ID was fake. He does not know how to identify a New York ID. First time I’ve had someone say that to me. Didn’t even have a scanner, said he was the scanner. This bouncer is a bald. middle aged white man. Gave my other friend a hard time first saying she needed an additional id on top of her NJ id. He was only like this towards Asian customers. Racist as fuck

Olde Queens is definitely one of the go-to bars as a Rutgers student. This is not my favorite bars, but all my friends come here. Also, it’s very easy to bump into all your Rutgers classmates and friends, so it has a nice crowd. Though there are times, especially before 11/12, when it is rather quiet and empty, the bar becomes extremely lively and packed after 12 and usually has the space for the huge capacity. The best is that they have very cheap drinks! The location is also wonderful since it’s on Easton and is in close proximity of Knight Club and Scarlet Pub. However, the place can get pretty messy and dirty. It’s no surprise to have drinks spilled on you.

This place is terrible. The place needs some up keeping. I am all for low-key, shabby looking dive bars but seriously the girls bathrooms don’t even have doors on them. They have curtains. I can only imagine how many drunken accidental walk-ins have occurred because of that. I think you can afford some doors on the bathroom. It is quite nerve wrecking to be doing your business while constantly being worried that someone is just going to swing open the curtain or trying to make sure there are no gaps in the curtain. The bartenders are okay(probably because they have a higher turnover rate than the security), but the security/bouncers are really rude. I see the same ones every time I come in, and i don’t come in that often. I have some bad run in with the staff every time I go whether it be a rude encounter or the staff shoving me because I was in their way. This happens even when the the bar is not that crowded at all and I am only about a beer or two in, so I know I was not drunkenly in the way. Even so, a simple«excuse me» would have sufficed. Also we had arrived there with my friends pretty early and I guess they move the tables around after a certain time. This is fine but the manner in which they asked was absolutely literally pulling out our chairs as we had barely collected all of our stuff to move. All in all, I would only go to this place as a last resort(like say if every other bar in NB was closed on a holiday lol). There really are way better options in the area. This is not the only place with cheap drinks. Would definitely go to Knight club any day. They have way better service and friendlier staff for a college bar.

This place is awful and is the worst bar in New Brunswick. Frank was at the door and discriminated me and my friends and did not allow us into the bar when he allowed the other half of our friends in. It’s disappointing and truthfully sad that this type of low level service exists. I will never be back here again…

Stopped in here after NOT being here for about 22 years… and it was like stepping back in time. Granted, the place was empty(we were there on a friday afternoon), but the beer was cold and reasonably priced, the bartender was pleasant and engaging, and the place didn’t smell like an ashtray like it did 22 years ago. Olde Queens was never my main hangout in college, but I certainly spent enough money there for it to be a semi-regular hangout. I was shocked at how small it was… I always thought it was bigger-maybe this is why I always come home with beer spilled on me at some point-I’m sure it gets packed quickly. Don’t know what it’s like now during the school year, but I assume it’s still a big Greek bar. For the 30 minutes or so I was there last week it was just fun reliving old memories.

A definite dive, but a cool spot. I stopped in here during the day on a bar crawl, but I’m pretty sure the night crowd here must be fun.(I did not go to Rutgers, so I cannot attest). Not cash only(thank you). They also have a very modern, coin operated shuffle board and lots of cool pictures on the wall. Why the name? Old Queen’s is the oldest building at RU and this place has been around for almost as long(circa 1930s).

Came here with my brother for his birthday, who is still attending RU. Let me first just say, wow! The kids today at RU are really dumb, at least the ones that I saw out here that night. As an RU Alum, I will never visit this bar again. I had some wanna be big shot on the football team threaten to whoop my ass with 6 gorilla punks behind him… best of all it was the night before a game. Real tough! No wonder you suck RU football. Just cus you on the football team don’t make you a hot shot. Win some games before you go running your mouth. Same bullshit attitude from everyone there that made me want to leave NJ after college. The dude who bounces was there when I was in college 6 years ago and thinks a little to highly of himself. Your lame bro go get a real job. The frat guys that hang out here prob jerk each other off. It’s gross and dirty inside. All shitty commercial beer, no microbrews. If you are 19, have a fake ID and an IQ on 60, I highly recommend you check it out. You will fit right in. I’d you are above the age of 21 and want a real bar experience, look else where. There are plenty of cool bars in downtown NB that have a lot more to offer.

Ahhhh I remember the good ol’ days as an undergrad at Rutgers. I would come here regularly for happy hour. Nothing beats dollar bud lites and free wings with a bunch of friends! I haven’t been back for a LONG time but I miss it!

I went with a few friends on a Monday night for drinks. The atmosphere was comfortable and the drinks were tasty. I had two long islands and they were made just right. The service was prompt and friendly.

Long lines to get into a crowded bar where you can barely move. If you don’t want to wait in the long line you can slip the back door guy $ 5 and he’ll let you in. Drink specials are ok but not great. It takes about 10 minutes to get a drink from either bar and it’ll take another 10 minutes to get back to where your friends are

By far my favorite bar at Rutgers. It’s the only place that sometimes dares to play something other than crap edm music. It doesn’t get 5 stars because the drink deals could be better and a girl always ends up opening the bathroom curtain divider on me while I’m peeing.

I used to come here with my friends on Thursdays for happy hour, and there would be the nicest bar tender, «J»(I’ll leave his/her name like that), serving us. Other than here, the other staff members were less caring and not as friendly as she was. They only seemed to pay attention to those at the bar and not in the back. I generally come here around evening time, so normally it’s not too crowded or packed then. The basket of wings come in either teriyaki or buffalo. I highly suggest the teriyaki wings. They’re delicious! Wings usually came out decent but often times dry. As for happy hour, they were made moderately strong with good flavor for a mix drink. If you don’t want a mix drink, there’s also dollar Budlight. The only problem I have with this place is the volume of the music. The music can be ridiculously loud for no reason. It’s to the point where it’s almost impossible to have a conversation with the person you’re standing next to. Other than that, this place is worth a shot. If only the music wasn’t so loud for a small place, that’d be great.

Really like this place. Drinks are cheap, and they have a pretty good selection. When it’s not that late, I usually grab a beer and dinner(they have pretty good burgers) with a couple of friends. The darts area is usually open, so we play a couple of games. I love this bar late at night too. It is smaller than most bars on Easton, so it gets crowded quicker, but there is always room to dance. Most bars just let everyone in, but they actually take into consideration the max capacity. That also means there’s a long line there later into the night(around 1 am). It is a typical college bar at night, so I would steer away if you’re not looking for that type of scene anymore. Overall, awesome place and will come back!

After reading Sammy G’s review I really don’t have much else to say. She really covered it all. Spot on. Bathroom sucks and you have to cross the dart board path to get to it. You go here 21 – 23 years old. Big time frat and sorority kids. Its super crowed so you wait on line then you cant even move inside. Cheap plastic cup drinks.

I’d rather be at my own frat party. First of all, the long lines are not worth the wait. Every time I go here it is a hit or miss, and 99% of the time, it is a miss. Tons of frat kids, older people, and hospital staff come here to chill and kick back. The scene here is very lame and the guys try their best to look as douchy as possible. The huge line’s not worth it because it’s so crowded in here. It’s like a mini version of Night Club, only worse. Drinks are relatively cheap, but not as cheap as other bars such as Night Club and Golden Rail. Music is good only when certain DJs are there. Crowd isn’t diverse at all and you’ll be dealing with annoying people all night so be prepared to put up with that. The place is so tiny and packed that you can’t even dance, let alone move. My advice for this establishment is to get better bouncers that know when to kick people out. tl;dr– Crammed basement house party.

Guinness Draught. $ 5.75 =) This is an old school bar. You walk in and you definitely smell it. It’s a typical college bar that’s noisy and serve cheap drinks in plastic cups(that’s a good thing… I think). The bartender at night is pretty cool. The place is pretty dark. Two TVs at the bar… TINYTINY TVs, though. Although having both TVs centered in the middle of the bar would be ideal, they decided to place each TV at the opposite ends of the bar. Kinda annoying when you’re trying to catch a game. I honestly come here only for the Gunness(which they pour correctly…2 part pour in a proper pint glass). I also occasionally order their blitzburgers as take out as well. Although they’re not the best burgers around, they are tastier than other bar food I’ve had. And it’s always nice to go home after a night of drinking with a greasy burger. This place really only deserves 3 stars, but since the bartender is cool, I’ll give them an extra star.

I like this place a lot. I am somewhat ashamed to admit how many times I’ve been here(I’m lured every time by the promise of free food). Thursdays from 5 – 8 p.m. = free wings(bbq, hot, teriyaki) Fridays from 5 – 8 p.m. = free blitzburgers. They don’t skimp on em’ either. :O The wings aren’t taken from scrawny slivers of chickens, and the burgers are pretty awesome(especially considering the fact that they’re free). I usually come here with several friends from school after class and we consume edible substances until(1) 8 p.m. comes around, or(2) we go to someone’s place to play Settlers because we’re awesome like that. I usually order iced tea or lemonade or buy someone else a drink because clearly, I’m a raging alcoholic, but my friends say the bartenders here definitely don’t skimp on the alcohol.

One of the more popular bars at Rutgers when you just turn 21. A huge frat and sorority bar. I loved this place when I just turned 21 and it was really awesome, but as you get older, the scene just isn’t as much fun as it used to be. It’s overly crowded and always has a line, sometimes for no reason at all. The drinks specials on certain nights are good, if you just want a beer, going to the cart in the back corner is the easiest. On the weekends you can barely move and it’s uncomfortable. The Blitzburger attached is really good if you’re going during a happy hour or on a Wednesday for poker night. When there’s room, it’s great to dance and goof off, the DJ is good on weekends/Tuesday. During football/Homecoming season, they have a limo going from there to the stadium and good morning drinks and bagels, pretty cool. The bathroom is ridiculously small and it doesn’t have a door, only a shower curtain to cover the toilet. awkward! I enjoy this place when it’s not overly crowded and there is outdoor seating to Blitzburger, which is sort of related to Queens.

Thursday Happy Hour is where it’s at! From 5 — 8 pm, F R E E wings come out about every half hour in three rotating flavors: BBQ, Teriyaki, Classic Hot Wing Style.(up to them to decide what they want to make on that day) These wings aren’t poor quality either just because they are free. They are meaty and tasty. There’s always a competitive line for it but it’s worth it to get what my boyfriend and I like to joke, «our dinner for the day.» Also, $ 1 Coors lights and $ 2.50 Bacardi mixed drinks. This has been the cause of very happy Thursdays in college.
