After having a few really great Peruvian dining experiences in the past few months, I’ve been on the hunt for something decent that is local to me. Of course, my expectation isn’t high. I can’t truly think that new Brunswick street food can really compare to more restaurant quality cuisines in new York and d.c., but I was still hoping for some kind of hidden hole-in-the-wall good Peruvian food. Nothing I ate was horrible, but I think the flavor was simply lacking. On the chicken, and in the ceviche. Just something not quite there. I would’ve preferred to see a better sauce too– it had a nice kick, but it was mainly mayo with lime juice and some peppers. The fish in the ceviche was not that fresh, but my main complaint is that the seasoning didn’t soak into the fish. The rotisserie chicken especially white meat was a little on the dry side, but the flavor was just lacking. I guess I have high standards for Peruvian, but for a little fast food hole in the wall place in NB, what can you expect? Service wasn’t great either, a little on the slow side. The sad part is that dipping french fries into some sauce and eating that was actually more pleasant than the other dishes we had.
