I used to frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis but the quality has gone downhill. I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was when I called in an order for Thai curry chicken and they made me mango chicken instead. When I notified them of this error, they said they would make me a new dish and all they did was pour curry sauce over the mango chicken. This was very unappetizing and I have no plans to ever return.

Along with so many changes in my life, good Chinese food is hard to find. Funny in my youth it was everywhere. Now it’s hard to find anything close. Last night we went here and while the meal was ok I was astounded to see what happened when I ordered a drink. It was a vodka on the rocks. Curiously I noticed the waiter with a glass in his hand. Next the waitress in full view poured some back in the bottle. I could not believe my eyes. Anyhow the search continues., Btw it was freezing in there!

New Canaan has a few cozy spots with reasonable prices, yummy food and zero attitude. Of those this might be my favorite. Hot and sour soup is always my litmus test for decent Chinese-American and they make a good one. They also make a yummy red curry soup and the sushi is good. My six-year of can’t get enough of the cashew chicken. I’m adding the 5th star because everyone there is super-kind. They remember you and make you feel welcome. That said, the best thing about it may be the people watching which is top notch both inside the restaurant and on the street outside. The lunch crowd is guys who are trying to start hedge funds, tourists on a budget, and best friends who duck in for a private chat to avoid the other ladies-that-lunch. Dinner is the best because this is clearly the go to spot for local teens on their first or second date. Makes you remember the excitement of that age and the hilarious awkwardness… Love it!

This place really has really great sushi. On weekend nights it is always crowded but you can always order take out which is very efficient. Friendly staff and fast service. Quite expensive(to be expected in town), $ 50 for the love boat which is a 2 big eaters, 3 small eaters sushi/sashimi plate. My daughter loves the chicken lo mein here. Simple dish but very well executed at Hunan.

It is always a toss up between the two Asian takeout places in town but this last time, Hunan settled the issue. They now offer sushi which is great because it covers all the bases for the family. Most recently I ordered the Chicken and Cashews dish which was great. One order is enough for three meals — super awesome because you can pig out at dinner and still have enough for breakfast. I stole a bit of the dumplings from another person and they were equally amazing. And especially important for takeout: it is ready lightning fast. Hunan is a keeper.
