Excellent atmosphere for families and casual dinners out. Pizza used to be awesome, but has fallen off the past few years. Some of the best grinders around. Well worth the visit/takeout.

As far as a local restaurant goes this place is great. The food is good, portions always allow me to have some left overs for lunch the next day. they offer gluten free options which makes this a winner for myself. Chicken Marsala is the best I’ve ever had .I’ve been going here for years with family & friends & have never had a problem:) The bar is great & lo key & a great place to relax after a long day. The place is casual so after a day of working in my yard all day or fishing I don’t feel as if I have to get all dressed up to go out, which makes it nice. The staff is always nice & does a great job.

My husband and I went to Portobellos on May 5th; we thought it would be really funny to go to an Italian restaurant instead of Mexican. We go to Portobellos a lot and order take out often. BUTNOMORE… The waiter(Italuan looking guy with black hair) was cold, rude, and made us feel extremely unwelcome. He did not come back to refill drinks and kept talking for a long time with some people. I had to actuaaly get up and go to the front to pay because we were waiting while he talked. The girl said he has to run the credit card but he would not come back and rhe girl ended up running his number for him to charge my credit card. We felt really unwelcome. We are not that close; it is a drive for us. There are many other restaurants, and we are not your customers no more.

Ordered a meatball Parm grinder while on the road. Arrived on time. Grinder was ready, no waiting. Possibly one of the best meatball Parm grinders I’ve had in years. People here are very pleasant.

I rarely feel ill from eating at a restaurant. I went to Portobello’s about a year ago and ended up getting sick from the Eggplant Parm. While in the area recently, I went there with trepidation. I ordered the Cheese ravioli. Safe, right? It was dense, mildly tasty, but again it made me sick. The service was fine as was the atmosphere.

Essentially the best New York style pizza outside of New York. I am bummed that don’t serve grinders since I had a craving for a meatball grinder. I am a bit biased since I used to work at the Ice factory behind it and I used to eat their pizzas everyday(I don’t recommend that) but its always good. Its worth checking out.

This past Sunday, I went to Portobellos for dinner with my boyfriend, my mom and my step dad. We walked in(without being greeted) and sat in the bar/lounge area. The atmosphere was very nice with dimmed lights. Our server came over to us and asked us what we wanted to drink(without saying hi or introducing himself). I noticed he was also the bartender, and was responsible for the other two or three tables sitting in the bar area. We all ordered our drinks, and when my step dad asked if he could have his iced tea half sweetened, the guy replied with QUITE an attitude, «no… Its just one…» Its hard to replicate his tone of voice through writing, but I was stunned at how he responded. A simple«no, im sorry, we cant do that» would have sufficed. A while later we ordered food and it was brought to us. The food was delicious.(My step dad did have to go up to the counter for silverware though, as we only Got two sets…) I got the salmon salad and it was great. We all were very happy with the food. Very large portions for a decent price! Anyway, we finished, he brought our check without saying a word, ran our card and then dropped it at our table WITHOUT saying thank you and goodnight or ANYTHING at all for that matter! Just dropped it and walked away!!! Throughout the hour we were there, he maybe said 5 sentences to us. We all agreed that the service was horrendous and that guy, whoever he is, belongs at a desk job with no customer interaction because he is so unpleasant. I have been a server/bartender for 6 years and it is so important to say thank you to a table before they leave because, HELLO, the people who tip us are the ones who pay our bills every month! We need to be grateful for those people and make them feel APPRECIATED! If he was weeded, i might have understood, but the restaurant had MAYBE4 parties there in total. So there is no excuse for that kind of service. If our service was acceptable, i would have given 4 – 5 stars, because again, the food was perfect.

Meh… I’ve experienced better… about sums it up. Wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t any better than I could have made at home, and for $ 50 I expect not to be able to do that. I had the angel hair with meat sauce and it really wasn’t blowing me away by any means. Some prego would have given me the same experience. Girl had the tortellini which she had similar impressions of. Clean environment, service was nice… just didn’t woo me I guess.

This is the spot for something to go if you have nothing else and need something that is edible. The food is usually mediocre at best. What they need to work on the most is the sauce, it tastes like v8 juice rather than tomato sauce. The popularity of portobellos is due to the huge portions for the price, I rather have quality over quantity any day.

It looks a little kitschy from the roadside, but don’t let that fool you. The interior is quite nice, and a little more upscale than your average casual-dining restaurant; though patrons do often come in sweatshirts. I’ve been here after a long day in the sun, with dirty hair, and for a date night with a cute outfit on, no matter your appearance, you’re welcomed. The bar is ok. My boyfriend and I ordered a round of martini’s, they came to us lacking a rounded flavor. The dining side,(to the left once you walk in), is warm, and quaint. The wine bottles displayed on one of the walls confuses me for having a large selection to choose from. No plum wine. «We only have red, white, and that pink wine», said the waitress. I giggled on the inside. My latest dining experience was more than satisfying, it was DELICIOUS!(Except for the ordered appetizer). My boyfriend and I went to Portobello’s for a special date night. We started with an appetizer, fried calamari. The breading was very bland, and the calamari was in thick slices. The calamari was very rubbery, and the lack of flavor in breading was enough to turn me off. I ordered salad with my lobster ravioli, and my boyfriend ordered the ribeye special, he ordered a soup to come with his main meal. The mushroom soup was creamy, and rich. It was so good, we kept trading my salad and his soup back and forth. My lobster ravioli was de-lish-us! A large serving of handmade ravioli stuffed with lobster. Sauce was a vodka with sundried tomatoes. Great flavors. My boyfriends ribeye was very pleasing. And came mashed potatoes sprinkled in bacon. Our main dishes were so good, I’d definitely splurge, and eat there again. Our bill including tip was around $ 70.00, this included drinks, too. It was a nice, clean, and quiet atmosphere.

I’ve heard a lot about this place being a great hot spot in New Hartford. We went on a Wednesday evening and met some friends who live around the corner and enjoy it. Personally, it did nothing for me. From reading the reviews, it looks like the pizza is a great angle, but the meals we had did not impress us. The wife ordered the Sea Scallops and Risotto. She said the Risotto was over cooked and mushy/runny and wet. Scallops were OK, but not terrible. I had the Chicken Picatta with broccoli as a substitute for pasta. Huge portion of Broccoli and the chicken were medallions. But they were over cooked/dry and the sauce was thin and even with that did not compensate for how dry the meat was. Our friends both ordered salads and those looked pretty good. Good size portion, one being antipasti and the other chicken. Greens were quality and meat looked really good. Wished I also went that route… Ill pass on another visit here.

Portobello’s is conveniently located directly across the street from the Farmington River Tubing place. You’d think it might not be that good for some reason, but it was a nice surprise. They make their own rolls out of their pizza dough, therefore they come out so warm and yummy. Next, go with an appetite or share, their portions are huge. I got the lasagna, if I wasn’t such a pig then I’d probably easily get 3 meals out of it, instead, I got two. It was good, not as good as mine but passable. It had a ton of cheese on it, but the meat really lacked seasoning. The salad that came with it was good, standard salad before the meal. My eating mates got a meatball sub which looked very yummy, a burger which was huge and a huge salmon salad. Everything looked good and thinking about it is making my mouth water.

Portobello’s pizza is the best in the area, IMO. Thin crust and wonderful fresh toppings to choose from. It is very tasty and you feel good knowing the crust is thin and the toppings are healthy. A++

Right across the street from Satan’s Kingdom, Portobello’s has become a post-tubing tradition. Soaked in river water, we usually arrive as a party of at least four or more, ravenous and sunburned. The staff here takes care of us every damn time. Never a wait, ample parking, and the food arrives lightening-fast. Portions are huge, so I usually end up sharing something. If you’re looking for authentic Italian, you may need to go elsewhere, because this place is a mecca for what I refer to as «Italian American» cuisine, but a yummy and reasonably-priced example! They bring you hot rolls, soup, salad, all of which are deeply appreciated. You can never go wrong with their chicken parm – calamari, mozz sticks, eggplant rollatini– all excellent. Portobello’s is a quaint and quick food option when craving carbs and fiending for fried goodness– it never fails to get rid of that rivery chill!

When I lived in the center of town, we used to order their pizza for takeout. It was always delicious. We moved and hadn’t really been back to try the meals, but we decided to go out last night and test it out. First, the renovations that they did are so nice! It looks very clean and classic in there, and you don’t feel nearly as cramped. We weren’t that hungry, so we ordered drinks(I had an Island Passion martini, it was awesome!) and then dinner. My husband ordered the Calamari«Fra Diavalo» style for his meal, and I ordered Littleneck Clams with a fra diavalo sauce on linguine. We got the rolls and fell in love. They were so good! Best rolls I’ve had in a long while. The salad was a typical pre-prepared dinner salad, so nothing too special. When our meals came out, they were AWESOME. Mike’s calamari was deep-fried and swimming in a spicy marinara sauce. It was amazing, with just the right amount of kick. My clams were out of this world. I ate most of the plate except some linguini — the portion was pretty large. We skipped out on dessert because we were too stuffed. We’ll definitely go back! For two people, the bill came to about $ 36. Our waitress was super attentive and had great suggestions. Overall, it was a really fun dinner with tasty food.

Boondock Italian that does the comfort food right. If you are on the way up to Ski Sundown… this is a great spot to fill up on the carbs.;) Mostly southern Italian. but they do it well.
