Updating — converged on Joe Pizza with 7 at 6:30. The waitstaff was gracious and made a space for all of us. We had an excellent meatball salad and two perfect pizzas. It was a great evening. Waitstaff was perfect!

My husband and I love pizza. Many great places to get it. We try to stay with o né per week. We tried Joe Pizza this week and felt like we wasted our choice. This was not good at all. No tomato sauce, and the crust was not stretched well. If you have to pull out of there on Rt 44 heading west, it had better be great. We probably won’t be back.

Boring pizza… lacking in flavor. We had the viggie, but the veggies were mushy and over cooked. I wish it had more fresh herbs and spices. Bland.

Amazing waitress. She promptly took our order and came back to check on us. The food was great. I had the tuna salad. Loved the tuna. Delicious! The flatbread that it came with was yummy. I’m glad they redecorated. The atmosphere now matches the quality of the food.

I see mixed reviews on this place, but my family loves Joe’s! We have only been there a handful of times, but have had a great experience with the food & service every time.

Most delicious eggplant parm grinder I’ve ever had! Bread is brushed with some kind of buttery glaze, topped with parmasean cheese and toasted. Came to the table piping hot. Portions are huge, even for the small grinder! Only reason I can’t give five stars is because they messed up my husband’s order.

We come here often for pizza, but have never tried anything else because frankly, for the setting and the level of quality, asking $ 15.95-$ 18.00 for pasta dishes is outrageous. They have Target or Bed Bath and Beyond decorations on the walls, which is fine for pizza and burgers(which are BTW excellent!) but demanding that price for pasta must come with a total experience. Good wines, waitstaff with experience, nightly specials, and toned down music. Again, I don’t mind the place for what it is, but make sure you know who you are. Places like this almost take advantage of a town’s name and cache by raising prices. Ollie’s in Litchfield does not do this. Their pasta dishes are commensurate with their ambiance and they get about $ 10-$ 14.95 for pasta dishes. So, let’s get those prices down, Joe. Maybe, I’ll try something else next time.

Lisa, you answered my review but there was no miscommunication. I spoke with you and I must say you were incredibly rude. You told me the driver had to drive right by my house(I can walk there in @3 min) and take a pizza to Burlington because their order came in first!!! Result… worst pizza ever!!!##

The service was awful !! Two people ordered burgers, it took 25 minutes for a barely warm burger and room temperature french fries. Another person ordered a hamburger. They served a cheeseburger. We sent it back. Fifteen minutes later they served ANOTHER cheeseburger. They got the same order wrong twice. And the server was then rude about it. OMG !! Lastly, the appetizer was served AFTER the meal. Will never go back !!

What can I say, this place used to be a favorite of mine. Unfortunately it’s no longer a viable option for dependable food any longer which makes me a bit sad. The food has some how become very spotty ranging from really good to a bit gamey. Did this place get sold? I think the employees gave up caring here.

I have been to Joe Pizza many times in the past and the burgers were always fantastic. Went there this weekend and found that things have changed. The first sign that things had changed for the worst was that the waitress had to be prompted to wipe down our table and she never did bring silverware to the table. The eggplant fries were mushy and flavorless. The 8 oz burgers were much smaller than 8 oz. TO add to my disappointment, my burger had to be sent back to the kitchen as it came with a topping that I did not order. The once revered onion rings are now an industrial tasting, uninteresting, stringy mess. Joe Pizza has experienced a fall from grace. It’s a shame as they had a good thing going.

2nd time in a few months. 1st time was fair. This time we ordered 2 pies, the white clam and the Puttanesca, a forgettable greek salad, and a nice cold Stella. The clam was ok, weak on flavor but acceptable with good crust. Puttanesca pizza was way too salty. Cook claimed its a strong pizza… I agree and thats why we ordered it. But not a salt lick. The 3 layers of anchovies(undrained?), capers, and olives were assembled without much thought to the flavor nor salt concentration. I would recommend pulling it from the menu or reorganizing the pie. I would have forgiven all this except when we asked to return the puttanesca after trying 2 dluced of a large and replace it with a smaller plain cheese, the server asked the manager and he declined and offered to charge full fee?! The server although apologetic for the managers decision, was quite impotent but not his fault. Good thing we had a discount CT Save voucher. Place was deserted on a wednesday night… with all the other great pizza joints in Avon-Canton i can see why.

It’s really 31⁄2 stars but can’t do half stars on Unilocal. First of all it seemed like all the food was home made! That’s always a plus! The food was all decent but nothing to rave about. We had the Margherita Pizza, Chipotle BBQ wings, Fried Mozzarella and Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. Like I said good but not great. The salad and fried Mozzarella was the best out of everything. The pizza was ok but way to many big chunks of tomatoes. The Chipotle Wings were to sweet but that was my fault for being brave and trying something new(I always order the buffalo wings). By far the best thing was the Italian Sodas. It got explain to me as being seltzer water with Italian flavoring with whip cream on top. I got the watermelon and mango and both were delicious. I would go back just for these!!!

Great pizzas, great food. If you are looking for really good near authentic New Haven style pizza, this is the place to go in the Farmington valley area. Eggplant fries are also hugely popular and for good reason! I’m a big fan of their clams casino and kitchen sink pies, they are I think some of the best pizzas I’ve had in my entire life — outside of New Haven’s Wooster Street. Love this place, every time I come home to visit my folks, I beg we get take out here.

Has it really been nearly four years since my first review? What’s changed you might ask? Well, for one, they have renovated the interior to freshen it up. Good work there. But thankfully, the portion sizes are the standout. Kids meals are an outrageously good bargain. For $ 6, you get soda, a «slice» of pizza(which is really a half a small pizza), and a big salad too. Kids loved it(and so did we). For the grownups, the eggplant fries remain terrific. The pizza this time around was still quite good(though cooked a little less than we normally see). But overall, a great value place in the Valley. Still fun and still good.

Good pizza bad service. If you are going to eat joes food go there double check the bill before you pay it and never let them deliver… Like ever. We used to love this place but the service has gone so down hill. Our last three experiences were so painful we won’t be ordering from joes any time soon. It’s a shame they actually have decent pizza, if you get it delivered and it’s the right order and you don’t get double billed for your order you should have not ordered pizza and got a lotto ticket. The end

Okay, this may be unfair because it may have more to do with the building than the restaurant; but it has to be said. We went in for a pizza, we usually take out, but we thought we would try eating in. BIG mistake. There are these bugs flying all over the place. We get our pizza and there are bugs flying into the pizza and falling off the ceiling into the pizza. We were completely grossed out. We have never been back, in or out. The worst part was that the staff seemed completely unfazed by it, like it was a regular occurrence. We paid the bill in full, no discounts were offered. We left the buggy food never to return. Ewww!

Gross! From my experience its clear to see that they know nothing about customer service. The manager is unprofessional and rude. Will not go back there again and will be telling others to do the same. Pizza places are a dime a dozen and you have to be good to surive. This place will not.
