Had one of their Maple Bacon donuts at their food truck at the New England Food Truck Affair in Guilford today. Delicious and a great amount of bacon.

These donuts are delicious and completely squared. I had the original glazed with a cake like dough. There were only a few flavors to choose from but they all looked delicious. I felt it was the right amount of sweetness, the donut wasn’t heavy or dense. Good pick me up sweet!

I stopped here on a Friday afternoon for half a dozen donuts. I saw this place highlighted on cteatsout on Instagram and I just had to have a donut. I have been known to drive far and wide for a good sweet treat, especially a donut. This place had great options: glazed, powdered, blueberry filled, maple bacon. My favorite was the maple bacon. If you get one thing from here, that’s the donut to get with the glazed coming up as a close second. I took away a star because the donuts didn’t seem to be fresh for more than half a day. I shared these with my family the next morning and there was a noticeable crunch to each donut. Besides the crunch, the flavors of each donut was evident. Next time I go, I will get the donut earlier in the day and eat them that day. I think this can be a 5 star place so I will give it another try at some point.

Best donuts I’ve ever had. Very fresh and a great selection of flavors. I just wish they had small ones so you could try multiple flavors; the full size ones are very filling since they have a dense, moist, cake-y texture.

We made a random stop while on tour with our band and ended up getting breakfast here. Great donuts and the owner and staff are amazing! We got a couple different donuts to split as it was our first time here and they were so fresh and delicious. Then the owners compiled a huge variety box for our bandmates which we shared and all of them were unique and awesome. Clean and cozy place to sit and hang out for a bit too. Definitely will come back next time we are in town.

We got to enjoy Tony’s Square donuts when in New Haven for a weekend. The shop is located on Whitney Ave, a cute strip near Yale’s campus. They also have a donut food truck they offer for private events, certain locations, or other festivals. The shop itself is cozy and cute and all the donut flavors for the day and spread across the display window. Definitely a donut choice for everyone! I tried he glaze, blueberry, and sprinkles — all beyond yum! We ordered a donut cake in advance(you can order with the email on their site and pay at pick up!). A great idea for a special occasion or birthday — costs $ 14 and serves 6. Regular square donuts are two bucks each. They also have coffee, teas, and lots of other breakfast drink choices.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon near closing time. There were only a dozen donuts left on display including one with pretzels on top, an Oreo crusted donut, a chocolate sprinkled chocolate donut, a maple walnut glazed donut, a cinnamon roll(not square), and a peanut butter glazed chocolate donut. As we were full from lunch, we settled on a single chocolate donut with peanut butter glaze. As the name describes, all of their donuts are square which adds to the novelty. The donut was cakey in texture and surprisingly not sweet aside from the icing/glaze. It is too bad more flavours were not available as I would have liked to try their maple bacon flavour or the almond butter crunch donut. At $ 2.13, it was better than the store bought variety but I honestly wasn’t wowed by the one flavour I was able to try.

This shop is a welcomed addition to the food scene in New Haven. Interesting flavors, all of which should be savored, at a premium price. You get what you pay for. Go to the chain stores to get donuts baked in some regional kitchen hours(or days ago). Go to Tony’s and get them fresh baked today! Be advised that the shop is easy to miss, the signage wasn’t complete at my last visit.

Good donuts — as far as quality is concerned, miles and miles away from Dunkin. Always an interesting variety of specials, always fresh, but a tad bit on the pricey side(for donuts anyway,) but definitely worth it. Not the best donut place I’ve ever been to, but certainly in the top 5.

I wandered into this location completely by accident, on the way to a knitting class. I was shocked, excited, and mostly amused when I discovered an array of square donuts. Never in my life had I before seen a donut in such a shape. I didn’t know such sorcery existed, but it calms my OCD, geometric obsessed heart. It just makes so much more sense. A dozen donuts can fit into a box perfectly instead of wasting all of the extra space. The selection is formidable; kit kat(it has kit kats on it!!), glaze, jelly filled, cinnamon apple, samoa. I decided on the samoa, and it tasted like all my Girl Scout dreams. Caramel, chocolate, coconut shavings, all atop the perfect cake-y donut body. I am usually ambivalent about donuts, but Tony’s Square Donuts changed my mind, just like the release of What Do You Mean? had me rethinking Justin Bieber. The ambiance is incredibly random and kind of awesome. It has the interior of a mildly run down deli, with those strangely almost pastel colors, and the types of tables in fast food restaurants that feel like chairs should be attached to them. There’s a plug in disco ball sitting near the window display. I’m sold I’m sold.

Went back today(couldn’t stay away!) and had a life-changing donut: old fashioned with maple glaze!!! Traditional glazed donut very good as well. Decent sized coffees and many varieties of full sized donuts and minis. Also carries smoothies. This being so close to my apt is going to be dangerous.

Went in there yesterday and bought a few donuts. The old fashioned glaze is awesome. I also picked up a blueberry one which was amazing. Coming from San Diego where most donut shops are mom and pop owned, they may be a bit over-priced by 50 – 75 cents but it definitely beats Dunkin Donuts. The person I interacted with was friendly and up front. I also saw a sign that said if there is something you like and do not see we will make it for you(or something along those lines). Overall great donuts and friendly staff. I definitely recommend them…

Been to Tony’s Square Donuts on Whitney Ave 3 times now(in the past few months). First time, I ordered a pumpkin spice donut, felt it was fresh & tasty, very good. But on my last two visits, I thought the donuts I got were slightly dry, not as fresh-tasting(granted, those last two visits were in the afternoon, not the morning). I also feel that $ 2 a donut is a bit pricey(and because it’s New Haven street parking, you have to throw in some additional coin to avoid a parking ticket). Doubtful I’ll be back, a weak 3 Star rating, IMO.

Tony’s Square Donuts is a great addition to the cute little row of shops where Church Street ends and Whitney Ave begins. It’s within walking distance of where I work, which is dangerous for my calorie intake, but awesome because some days, I need to treat myself. And these donuts are a real treat. I stopped in for the first time recently and felt almost overwhelmed by the variety of donuts. I learned from the friendly lady behind the counter that they like to rotate and try new flavors, and they’re open to new suggestions. I also learned that the donuts are square because when the owner first started making these donuts, he didn’t have a donut cutter, so he had to cut them by hand. After much deliberation, I got a peanut butter and jelly donut for myself, my coworker got a Samoa donut, and we brought pumpkin, raspberry jelly, and Oreo peanut butter donuts back to share at the office. The donuts were delicious. They were fresh, wonderfully chewy, and perfectly sweet. While we got our donuts to go this time, we took note that there was a cozy little seating area if we wanted to stay and enjoy our donuts there.

Man oh man, it’s dangerous that this place is walking distance from where I work! The donuts are out of this world! The owner’s son rang me out and was very friendly and helpful. I like that they carry the good traditional flavors, as well as more creative and fun ones.

There isn’t much else to say about this place other than it’s the best donut around! They just opened this location about a week ago and have been selling their donuts as part of Orangside Café/Orangeside on Temple for the past at least 6 years. It’s nice little spot with some indoor tables to grab or coffee or beverage. With their own space, they definitely had more donut offerings left on a Sunday afternoon than I we usually were able to get. Try the Nutella/Peanut Butter, it was fantastic!
