The food is great! A new and different homemade soup daily, enormous salads, fantastic breakfasts are just a few of the offerings. They have friendly, responsive staff up to and including a bellboy who has been with them for years, and their owner is frequently on the premises interacting with guests concerns. By the way, I got hooked on Mattina’s for their incredible Chicken dumpling soup, offered every Monday, but have grown to love many of the delicious daily specials!

I was looking for a non trendy place for breakfast. This was at the end of a mini mall. They have a hostess, which I think was the owner seat you. They were toting their pumpkin spice pancakes and French toast. The special was four slices of French toast, that was a little too much for me. I asked if they would serve half, the waitress had to ask the hostess/owner. She thought I could. WOW. It was good, but it was not the friendliest place. Good fun, waitress was attentive, the owner was not friendly.

The food is VERYGOOD! One of my favorite breakfast places in the area. It’s a fairly large place with two rooms for dining. The decorating is eclectic — comforting and fun.

We’d heard lousy things but decided to give them a try. Granted, we went on a Sunday, but the lot wasn’t full, and neither was the restaurant. They had 8 tables open and about 2 dozen people standing waiting. This was before we discovered there was a whole other section half empty. When they finally start putting people at the open tables they did it very strangely. They sat couples at the 4 top tables, but put our infant seat in a booth, wouldn’t provide a seat or sling. Turns out we were lucky in that we were put at a booth with a wall. Two other couples had their infant seats teetering on the edge of an open ended booth. Could have excused this if their food was delicious or cheap, but it was neither. The food combos were all strange and the skillets we tried were terrible tasting, soggy and flavorless. In a worse area it wouldn’t have mattered, but we’ve tried Teardrop on Laraway which while a clusterf*** is really good, and Double Yolk is fantastic. Wish we had made the trek down the street or the wait across town.

First time I’d been to their new location. Wasn’t impressed with the food or service. There were only a handful of customers when I was there but our food seemed to take quite a long time. I ordered the country benedict, which is one of their signature items, and the eggs were way overcooked. Instead of poached, they were more like hard boiled. My family and I eat out a lot, and I’m sure we’ll give this place another shot.

I’ve heard they have great soups! A good breakfast spot right on Rt. 30. Lots of natural light and plenty of seating for groups large and small. Great breakfast foods served in a friendly family atmosphere. Friendly staff that always takes good care of you. They are not cheap with their ingredients or service. Free refills on ice coffees is a nice touch. Highly recommended!

No changing tables? Sorry but that’s a deal breaker for me. My daughter blew out her diaper and had no where to change her so we left. Won’t be going back.

Good american fare… friendly staff. Menu has a good selection of items. New location is nice, although the parking situation is a little sketchy.

ALWAYSGREATFOODANDSERVICE! I love the honey donuts! They have great crepes, traditional biscuits and gravy, and skillets. Sometimes I just want some eggs and crispy bacon, and the Mattina Special is a good deal. Today, I was seated, immediately had a coffee poured, menu waiting, and I think I waited just enough time to prep my coffee and my food was brought out. Can’t beat that!!!

Ya gotta get the honey donuts. That’s first and foremost. Mattina’s has definitely increased their portion sizes. We went back today and none of us could finish. Good bang for your buck if you also get leftovers for lunch the next day!

Overpriced food. Terrible host/hostess. Average server. Bland mediocre food at best. Parking a hassle. The best part of my dining experience was an easy right turn into Rt. 30 to go back home. I’ll be sticking with Country Charm from now on. The Old Mattina was bad, this one is worse.

Well, we just couldn’t wait the 20 – 30 minutes for Country Charm this past Sunday. Mattina was our next choice and we were pleased with the experience. We arrived after 10AM and the place was packed. This was our first time to Mattina since they moved west down Rt. 30. Really nice uprgrade, bigger and well put together. We were sat in the back room area and that was fine. Our waitress was somewhat in the weeds but was very nice and really didn’t do anything I can criticize. She was just too busy to really socialize much. no biggy. We had our 1.5 year old with us so there was food everywhere by the end of the meal. Everyone was cool with that so kudos, we have just come to tolerate the young dudes messy eating. Soooo, the food: My wife is a boring breakfast person. Meaning: Two eggs over easy, crispy corn beef hash and toast/butter. I cant even give this meal a grade because it is identical everywhere you eat on the planet… However, screw this one up an you automatically get a one star!!! I ordered the Southwester Eggs Benedict. Let me paint this picture… English muffin, topped with a hunk if seasoned grilled yard bird, then an over medium egg(could’ve been cooked a little less…) completely smothered in a chipotle hollendaise sauce. A++ This was definately out of my breakfast comfort zone, but I was extremely happy with my choice. As A HUGE fan of Heaven on Seven’s brunch entrees, this was as close as I’ve found. Really unique and I literally licked the plate so as not to waste a drop of the chipotle hollendaise sauce. I would definately eat here again, and probably very soon!

Will keep coming only for the breakfast, not for their service. The person who’s usually at the register is nice, but once you’re in your seat it always seems like the server woke up on the wrong side of the bed. C’mon cheer up guys!

So there are people on here complaining that they go at the absolute busiest time of the week for a business like this, late Sunday morning, and they’re upset because the parking lot is full and there’s a wait for a table? Seriously? Seems to me, if that many people want to eat there, it must be pretty dang good. And pretty dang good it is! Today was our second visit, and it was just as good as the first time we came. My husband and I always get up early to beat the rush if we want to dine out on a Sunday morning, and at 8:30 — 9:00am we found ample parking, no wait, and quick, capable, friendly service. I ordered biscuits and gravy that came piping hot and in a portion generous enough that I couldn’t quite finish it. They were delicious and made even better by the chipotle flavor Tabasco sauce provided on every table. My iced tea was refilled before it ran dry and without me asking. My husband’s Irish skillet was also great and also huge, and accompanied by a side of fluffy pancakes that were terrific and will probably be what I order next time. And there certainly will be a next time.

Nice little café, I’ll definitely go back. You get a lot of food for your money. Had a reuben with lemon rice soup and curly fries. It was all delicious.

This place recently moved into the new space that the burned-out LA Café was supposed to take over, so they have much more room than their old location. Service is fine and the food is OK, but Country Charm is still my first choice for breakfast in New Lenox.

I have been to Mattina’s approximately five times and will no longer return. The reason is that the food is mediocre at best. My last visit was with two others and neither of us thought the food was better than just, OK. The portions are a decent size and the restaurant is nice and clean, but they need to do something more with the taste of the food. My Mattina Skillet was mostly hash browns and lacked the more tasty items such as ham, sausage, and vegetables. My friend’s wrap was somewhat dry and not very tasty. It’s a shame, because New Lenox could use a good breakfast place. Other breakfast places that I go to throw in a fair amount of the unhealthy stuff that gives you the flavor you want when going to a restaurant(who goes to a restaurant to eat healthy?). Lastly, although this did not influence my review, some of the breakfast menu items come with either a choice of pancakes or toast, which is standard for most restaurants. However, for some odd reason, Mattina’s charges an additional 75 cents if you choose English Muffins as your toast item. This is a first for me and I have been to numerous breakfast restaurants. Their staff should at least warn you of the upcharge. However, they should just rethink charging additional for English Muffins. Had the food tasted better, I would have minded less. Lastly, Mattina’s has moved a block or two to the west so some of the photos posted on Unilocal may not be updated.

Their pancakes are excellent, the oj really good and the homemade donuts a unique breakfast treat. Our server was very helpful and friendly and the food came hot and fast. Spread out the tables a bit and it’s a five.
