Pizza was great, as was the service. Thai spicy pizza was so good we ordered a second to take home and enjoy the next day.

Sounds same old same old but try the mozzarella pizza. It’s great. Once in awhile Jacks has a live band. I’ve had a great time every time I’ve been there. Jack gets into it and the fun is infectious.

I was a huge fan of Jack Chaplin’s last restaurant, and have been meaning to try this place since it opened. Dinner did not disappoint I had their blackened mako shark with fresh pico de gallo special. The service was excellent and friendly. The beer selection was also very good. The best part is the dinner and two craft beers came in less than $ 30. The rest of our table had flounder or wood fired pizza, we shared everything and it was all delicious.

Had a great mixed grilled seafood dish(tuna, sea scallops, shrimp). I didn’t think $ 20 was too bad of a price. Very tasty. Would definitely go again.

This place is the best. We drove a long way to check it out. The food didn’t disappoint, specially the seafood. Good bar too.

I’m mildly embarrassed to say we’ve been 3 times in less than 2 weeks. I’m a pretty picky eater and my mom is a major pizza snob. The atmosphere is great and the people who work there are awesome and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. Typically I dread making the«right» choice and going with a salad but Daddy Jacks kills it with the Dominick. I opted for the house made Caesar dressing with Bomster scallops and it was perfect. The pizza was also very well received. It was also really nice to be recognized by Jack after our second time seeing him. We will definitely be returning, most likely on a weekly basis.

I really struggled between giving the 2 and 3 star rating. On Unilocal a rating of 2 is fair and 3 seems to be a little better than just so-so. My scale below is 1 – 5 with 3 being right in the middle. So my two stars above reflects a less than OK experience. Décor: 3⁄5. Nice bar area, booth was comfortable and spacious. Tables have ample room between them. Exposed duct work and piping was nicely incorporated into the décor. Food: 2.5÷5 stars. I had a seafood sampler special(shrimp, scallops, mahi-mahi, some 4th fish). Fish was excellent, but very small portions. My date had chicken parm which had an odd spicy undertone to it, but her portion was huge(so much so that she left the doggie bag in my car, so I got to eat it for breakfast the next day — score!) Service: 2.5÷5 stars. Our waitress was nice enough. What we didn’t like is that my entrée was brought out a good 3 – 4 minutes before her entrée. Since my entrée was so small, we thought maybe I had ordered an appetizer instead of a meal. Nope — that was considered«dinner». If I were in New London again I might try it once more, but if someone made a suggestion to go elsewhere I’d probably lean toward that elsewhere.

Nice place, needs a larger menu though. Our server wasnt all that. My daughter asked forr cherries in her coke and they were bad. Bartender threw them out and hopefully they know stay times for food and that the cherries were just an over site.

I don’t think I’ve ever given 5 stars, yet between food and service, here we are. Everyone who works here is friendly, accommodating, and understanding of every need we had. My husband and I love to eat out and this was our first time at this restaurant. Our server was Erica, who was exceptional. I can’t recall the last time we experienced service that was so responsive and attentive.(My husband added that the food always tastes better when the service is great…) I had the chicken francaise. There were 3 filets of which I assumed I’d take home half … I ate every bite as it was light and delicious! My husband had the mahi-mahi special which he said was excellent because it was cooked to perfection… flaky, and the spice was not overpowering. My friend had the lobster ravioli special which she said was flavorful and very tasty. Another in our party had the Thai chicken pizza; instead of just being some kind of trendy gourmet pizza, he really felt it was a good taste pairing. Then another guest mentioned that the Chicken Parmesan(a common menu item in most restaurants), was also exceptional; it was crispy instead of a little soggy and the sauce was rich. I wasn’t a huge fan of the tartufo dessert, but I was so full by then that you really can’t fault the dessert! Although you could drive by Daddy Jacks and miss it, you should make sure you put this in your GPS so you go to it on purpose. You won’t regret it!(Plus, we will probably see you there…)

You can’t be the food, price, and service. The scallops are killer and some of the new pizza combinations are amazing. Did I mention the stuffed flounder? Fabulous…

been here twice since they opened. gorgeous bar, amazing food, and great staff. had a spicy Thai pizza the first time and blackfish over seafood risotto the second time. both were equally delicious. lots of specials each night made it hard to choose; I’ll be back this week to try another dish. definitely the new hot spot in NL!

I loved chaplins, so when I heard there was going to be a «sister property» I was more than excited to try it. We were seated right away, there were maybe 7 tables filled. Not super busy for a week night. We were given waters, and waited about 10 min for our waitress to come over. She finally did, and took our drink order. It took her 15 more minutes to return with a glass of wine and a beer. While we were waiting, my guest and I already knew we weren’t going to come back. Service is one thing I can’t give a second chance. When she did return with our drinks, we put in our dinner order. Small«classico» pizza, and the salmon. Meanwhile, we both finished our first round of drinks and waited another 20 min for our food AND refills. The food was just ok. But the fact that we were there for over an hour, and our waitress only came to our table three times, was disappointing. If you keep the drinks flowing, our bill will be higher, as will your tip. We won’t be back. If anything, maybe we will get take out pizza. But that’s about its.

Let me preface this by saying that I support new restaurants in Downtown New London. I support new commerce as it helps our downtown flourish. With that said, I must say I probably won’t return to Daddy Jacks. We waited 25 minutes for a table. Im good with that. It was busy. It says Steaks outside so I came with that in mind as did my guest. When we ordered they were out of filets(the only steak on the menu. Okay. I ordered a gorgonzola salad as my meal. It was brought with my guests soup. Okay. Still hungry and not into carbs or farm raised salmon. Allergic to shellfish, I was left with few options… I ordered a caesar as my meal. My guest ordered chicken parm. The chicken was overly breaded and he picked most of it off and the sauce was just awful. He thought it had marjoram in it. His vegetables were maybe zucchini and onions. Water from the veggies seeped under the entire entrée. He enjoyed the baked potato. Unfortunately, the kitchen is being tun by nothing short of an amateur. Wont be back!

I am not sure why another reviewer is complaining about food that isn’t served. Our experience here was wonderful. The mussel appetizer was so tasty it made me wish for crusty bread to sop up every ounce of the liquid. Our meals were delicious and $ 18 or under. We enjoyed ourselves, the service was pleasant and efficient, the restaurant was roomy and large. Tables were full by 6 pm. I wish this place future successes, and I most certainly will travel 20 miles to come back.
