Sonny’s BBQ

Well I came here with my husband and daughter, was seated kindly once the host and staff were done with their discussion on what they did the night before. I ordered a specific meal offered on the menu. After a lengthy wait our meal arrived, the server dropped the meal and left. After waiting over 10 minutes she arrived to ask about the meal in which I told her my order was wrong, I ordered wings with my meal not sausage. She tries to assure I ordered sausage. At this point I sternly tell her she was wrong and I don’t take kindly to being called a liar. I don’t send orders back so just take it off my bill. She returns another 15 min later to finally refill our drinks that had been empty even before our meal arrived with some wings. I told her thank you (Although I was not going to eat them, I’m not eating spit wings no thank you) It doesn’t end there… She then begins to tell me in a snobby voice she could have taken the sausage since she brought wings (Never asked her to do that) I calmly remind myself that I’m an adult and making an ass out of her is not the thing to do. She ends her shift, never tells anyone, I’m so heated at this point I ask another server to please give us our bill! She receives no tip and a comment on my napkin. REVALUATION OF YOUR SERVERS AND MAYBE, NO REALLY I’LL NEVER RETURN AND NONE OF MY FRIENDS WILL EITHER!

I was craving MEAT, roasted meat. and this was half way between mom & I so I took her here for lunch.
We both ordered a pulled pork plate, 2 sides and the endless salad bar.
The service was good, if a bit slow. I’d blame it being on Sunday, but the place wasn’t busy.
When we did get out plates for the salad bar, I kinda wish we didn’t. First, the salad mix was Ice burg lettuce, and there was a side bowl — the size of a soup bowl– that was of another mix and it was almost empty. I took those mixed greens. I added a bit of the cucumbers, some egg, some black olives, and when I went to get the corn, it was. Goopy. Yes goopy, like it had gel in it. It was. Gross. The other offerings from the salad bar were equally disappointing, the Tuna salad — lumped together and discolored, the potato salad, not even going to try it. Only the macaroni salad. it seemed edible.
The rest of the food came quickly, it was tasty and fresh, but the Salad bar was disgusting.

I go about twice a year every year since they opened. I want to go more, but never get a chance. I’ve always enjoyed their food and friendly staff. Old school salad bar is okay.

After the last 2 weeks of horrible service, hot food served cold, and cold drinks served warm. How wonderful was it to come here and eat! Our waitress Jacklyn was friendly, on point, and attentive to our needs. We weren’t thrown into a corner and left on our own to get up and look for condiment’s that should have already at our table and/​or search for our waitress for refills. The food was hot and fresh, the servings were ample and properly prepared. The Manager Tanner is doing his job at this location, a wonderful job I might add. I am glad to see that there is Management out there that still cares about who is on his staff, what the kitchen is putting out and customer satisfaction, Will definitely be back!

Used the Gift Certificate Manager sent to give place another try. Hubby, son, my sister and my nephew lengthier time. We got the redneck egg rolls. They were good, just a bit on the greasy side. Ordered the family feast. Juice for the boys, soda for husband and my sister and I had beers. Ribs were burnt, dry, pork was warm, dry, chicken was bland no flavor, corn was in foil, cold, butter was warmer than the corn, garlic bread was warm and soggy, how that happens I don’t know, fries were actually fresh and the macaroni and cheese was the best part. Waitress came by 1 time. Then had to get another waitress to tell our waitress I needed another beer after almost a 30 minute wait in an uncrowded restaurant who’s tables needed busing and cleaning badly. As we were leaving, all the waitresses were gathered at the hostess stand like they were on Sprink Break. I’m done. Not going back or recommending your bucks here. There are much better bbq spots than here.

They don’t even care how the customer feels. Do yourself a favor… Go somewhere else

I love Sonny’s, it’s so good. This location is four stars, not perfect but pretty good. been here a few times and can’t think of any complaints.

I’m not even a huge BBQ fan but I have never and will never turn down an opportunity to eat at Sonny’s.
The sweet BBQ sauce is absolutely delectable. I always order the pulled pork which is super tender and flavorful. All the sides are excellent additions — sweet potato, apples, baked beans, corn fritters, Texas toast garlic bread — yum! The salad bar is a great option as well — I believe they’ve even won awards for it.
I’m sad to say I no longer live in an area where Sonny’s is around the corner (or even in the same state) and my mouth is watering writing this review. Can’t wait until my next trip to the South to get my fix!

Visited us from uk approx 15 times first time in sonnys at new port richey FL excellent ribs salad bar and drinks (2 for 1) we carried enough out in a doggy bag to feed another person definately will be visiting again rob from Robin Hood country

Nice salad bar and tender fresh meats, Very friendly staff

They will only give you one extra bbq sauce packet with a take out order. What a joke!

Best place for ribs! Wait Staff always courteous and prompt. Every once in awhile you may find a few ribs that are overcooked. They never give you any trouble and return promptly with fresh cooked ribs.
Salad bar is great.
Love this place. Sometimes I come here twice a week.

We’ve been taking our grandparents here for years when we come into town. Sonnys is a great value for a large family.
Nice salad bar, burgers, chicken, ribs but not brisket. I had the brisket yesterday and it was really dry and chewy.
Also, BBQ to out of towners means many different things. The BBQ ribs are made for middle america. There is no dry rub but they have been smoked (not too over powering) and sauced up.
All in all, A solid 3.5 and a great place for dinner.

The ribs are spectacular. We have a large family so we get the family deal for four. Its around $ 40.00. you really can’t beat it.
