First and last time. In town on business and wanted some southern cooking. This isn’t the place. Greens had to many stems, black eyed peas was actually a soup with black eyed peas and a bunch of other stuff and the fried whiting had small bits of Mac and cheese with it. Not sure why. By accident I’m sure but still… It seems like a big night club with a restaurant inside. In the weekdays, like today it’s slow but I can imagine the weekends are busy but the food needs help. This is definitely not Sylvia’s or other southern food type place if been too. Oh and the Gray Goose martini was warm and in a plastic martini glass, really???

What happens to DONCOQUI!!! I did not like the new concept at all. I used to love going to Don Coqui for some latino music and food, but I won’t be back. Total disappointment.

Extremely long wait for a table. Watered down drinks. The food was not good. Overcrowded. Valet parking took over an hour to get car.

This place has definitely lost something once it went from Don Coqui to Get Soul. The food is still top notch, however the service is not. We waited 45 mins for appetizers. Which is totally unacceptable, when the place was only half full at the time. And when they arrived they were only room temperature. Not what I expected from such a quality establishment. I am no longer a fan ! Hopefully, they will correct this issues quick.

First off as soon as we arrived we were greeted with«cash step over here, credit over here«so I’m like ok not the greatest for an entry but I won’t judge it just by that. We get upstairs to be seated the music was extremely loud that you had to yell to speak to the person next to you. The food was positioned in an area where it wasn’t well lit so because there were no signs or labels you really didn’t know what you picked up until it was close to your face on your place. At one point this guy in front of me on the line suggested to my friend that the meat was either chicken, beef or pork, I said great thanks lol. The menu wasn’t what I am used to it just seems like they threw it together without much effort to please the customer. But we know that some establishments seem to think that everyone attends these places just for the alcohol and I’m not one of those. The area we were seated in was extremely hot we asked to have the fans turned on after baking for over an hour we were told that it would become too cold but then oddly enough they turned them on maybe 30 mins after we asked .The valet parking was horrendous when it was time to leave there was no order and the attendants had to yell out and ask«ok who is next?» A few arguments happened and at that point I was glad I was leaving because I was completely over it. I have been to a few other day party/brunches that were well put together, unfortunately this wasn’t one of them.

What a place. I witnessed the growth of Don Coqui to Sapitos to now Get Soul. Jimmy, the owner never seizes to amaze me. I’m a fan of the cooking the Rodriguez family has brought to the Tristate area since the days of Jimmy’s Bronx Café. There’s a lot of experience in the kitchen and management. In regards to Get Soul, I wish I could give it 10 stars. For starters, the décor was inviting and the greetings at the door made you feel as part of a growing family. At Get Soul their service is above and beyond anyone’s expectation. The food; appetizers were very tasty and delicious from the salad, to the wings, to the steak strips followed by ceviche. Dinner was even better, my favorite being the baby back ribs and sweet potatoes. What a clever idea to combine soul and Spanish food. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an «all-inclusive» evening, great food, great music, happy atmosphere all around. After you eat you can dance the night away burning off calories. It’s a win win deal. Trust me on this one, I will continue the drive the 43.1 miles it takes me from Staten Island to experience and unforgettable night.

I wish I could give this place zero stars! I’ve never been as disappointed with a restaurant. Do not go to Get Soul at old Don Coqui for brunch. Rice taste like it was done the night before and reheated in the microwave, pasta was cold, I ordered an omelette and it was dripping in oil and my orange juice tasted like water with food coloring and sugar. Food was disgusting. I spoke to the manager, Jimmy who is actually the owner’s son and I was told that I paid for the«club like experience and the DJ and that if I want better food I could go to Don Coqui in Dyckman and City Island». I’m Livid! We had a party of 45 people paying $ 40 each. Get Soul/Don Coqui just lost 45 customers and their friends as well!

Yayyy finally somewhere to hang out in New Rochelle! I’ve been to this place twice in past few weeks once for brunch and once for a little late night partying with my boyfriend & i’ve got to say i really like this place. I wasn’t a big fan of Don Coqui because most of the menu was friend and i don’t like fried food. If I came it was probably for drinks during happy hour but thats it. As for Get Soul their brunch is buffet style with lots of food to choose from. It also comes with unlimited mimosas for $ 40& whats brunch without unlimited mimosas :) Its definitely like a party & can be a bit loud so if you want to go somewhere thats quiet with no music then don’t come here for brunch. I don’t remember what all i ate but everything i put on my plate was good. They also serve hookah which I love! As for the night party. Coat check is mandatory and guys can’t wear hats. It gets pretty packed at night. The DJ was ok I think she could’ve played more current music but other than that I had fun. More hookah and drinks! Glad New Rochelle finally has somewhere to go instead of traveling to Manhattan all the time.

Unimpressed! Service suck, food delayed, food tasted bad, in fact no soul food on menu, music loud DJ needs to give it up. nothing soulful about the place. The only thing changed was the name on outside of building and added fried chicken to menu. im sorry but the Don Coqui chain is a joke. My first and last vist to Get Soul.

The only reason why this review is getting two stars is because the food is very very good here. Had it not been for the food, I would have given it negative stars(if that were even possible). When this was Don Coqui it was great! The food, the atmosphere, and the staff were just so awesome! My friends and I would drive all the way from the middle of CT to dine and party here(at least several times a year). We were so surprised when we learned that it was no longer Don Coqui, but Get Soul. However, despite the name change, we were still eager and willing to go. So… on Christmas Eve we made reservations. When we got there, the only thing that seemed to have changed was the name and the menu items(however, the actual menu it-self still said Don Coqui on it, which is a little weird to me… I mean really, you can’t change the menu covers. I should have known at that point that it was not going to go well). We proceed to be seated and review the menus and wait for the waiter… and wait… and wait… and wait. Please keep in mind, that even though it was Christmas Eve, there were only about seven tables full. And there were only two waiters. In my opinion, they should have had more than two waiters on this night, HOWEVER, I find it very odd that two experienced waiters can’t handle seven tables total together. We had been waiting so long that my husband had to get up and go to the bar for our drinks. After this, my friend had to go tell the hostess that we were waiting and needed our order taken. About 5 minutes later he came and took our order. When the food arrived it was great. However, we never saw the waiter again until we were ready to go and asked for our check. He did not offer to get us anymore drinks, so we had to go to the bar ourselves, and he never asked us to see the dessert menu. Had the gratuity not been added into the bill, I’m not sure he would have gotten much. Needless to say, we will not be going here again.

RIP to one of the best places to eat in new Rochelle. Why o why would the amazing don coqui turn into this… thing. We will never know. This place has completely lost its identity. I was so busy thinking about the delicious seafood stew I was going to have that I didn’t check the building to see the name has changed But as soon as I opened the menu the disappointment set in. I can’t tell if it’s trying to be a Diner. A Chinese food restaurant. Or what. All I know is the authentic Latin dishes that people flock to this place for are all gone. And looking at the empty parking lot. I’m not the only one that thinks so In it’s place are dishes like Chicken and Waffles. Fried Rice and Burgers. It was like a Bad Joke. After talking to the manager he gave me some story about LHH stars investing in the location and turning it into this garbage. Word to the owners. WHEN U HAVE A SUCCESSFULBUSINESSMODELYOUIMPROVEIT. NOTCHANGEIT. The calamari was tasteless. The mofongo was so so. The Paella was actually not bad. But nothing on the menu makes sense. It was just pure confusion. I almost laughed when the waiter asked if I wanted to see a desert menu. No thanks i will lick my wounds and keep it moving. Not sure if I’ll be back there to be honest.

This place is very confused. They still call themselves Don Coqui when you call and you’re greeted at the door but the sign on the outside says Get Soul. The regular menu was soul food but their prefix party menu was a mix of soul food and Don Coqui’s old menu. The staff didn’t understand the menu and what was being offered. For instance I ordered the half fried chicken and received a breast and two drumsticks and was told they so do not serve half a chicken although it was listed in the menu. However, I must say the food was rather tasty.
