We had a great time at Mamma Francesca. We were a group of 10 and Marcos quickly sat us and was very attentive to all our needs. We enjoyed the food and great sangria. I had the lamb with Marsala sauce, i loved how tasty and light it was. For appetizers we had the calamari and zucchini. I loved the zucchini, it was nice and crispy on the outside with perfect moisture on the inside We loved their hospitality and how family friendly it is, as we had 4 children with us. We will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to others.

Ended up here for lunch, and it was a pleasant surprise. Ok, not first class service, sub-par fried calamari, but the best meatballs with penne I’ve ever tasted. My table mates seemed pleased with their branzino(whole fish) and meat lasagna, so worth coming back. Oh, and the beer mugs were pre-chilled – nice touch.

I was surprised that the food was as bad as it was after reading all the decent reviews. My go to way of evaluating an Italian restaurant is a Caesar salad. The one here was terrible. It lacked that wonderful cheesy bite that it should have. The veal scalopine with eggplant was over cooked. The veal was too well done and the eggplant must have been separately cooked and was mush. Cannot recommend.

We ate again last night at Mama Francesca. The food, drink, and service was again excellent! Shrimp cocktail for appetizer and fresh greens with a tasty house dressing for salad course was then followed with the specials of the day — Swordfish in a nice zesty marechiarre and Salmon stuffed with crabmeat in a white wine sauce along with a side pasta ziti and vegetable squash, broccoli, and roasted potato rounded out another perfect dinner. We’ll be back soon with the boys for lunch and dessert.

loved it! my GF and I ate there today. we were there before 6, so had early bird. Minestrone soup, bread, I had Chicken Scapriello, and she had Ziti. Choclate mousse cake for dessert. everything was fresh and tasted great. waiter was excellent. awesome views of LI sound. large free parking lot. Happy hour 2 – 7,3 beer, 4, wine. Highly reccomended! we sat in back, not in front by bar, so it was quieter.

I came there last night with my husband. This place has potential to be good, it’s beautiful inside but the service is terrible. We’re the type of people that’s in and out, at maximum at a restaurant for no more than an hour and a half. We were looking forward to the«Early bird special» which is a three course meal for 14.99 and to also take part in their happy hour drinks. Let me start with this. when we came in, we were given the regular menus. Fine. But when we requested the early bird special the waiter made it obvious that he was unhappy because we’re spending less than expected. We were presented a print out paper of the early bird special and it looks like the same paper they show to those who request it(since they clearly weren’t telling anyone in hopes they order from the regular menu). As someone who has worked in the restaurant in the past, please take some time to print out a nice cut out of the early bird menu for presentation sake. When we asked about certain dishes he made no attempt to try to sell the food. We waited a little over half an hour for the food to come. The food was OK. My husband ordered mussels, which were so tiny and the skirt steak which was grey and rubbery, cut into the shape of an octopus. Personally I felt like it could have a little more salt and pepper or something. I ordered the penne pasta and it was OK. you could go over any little pizza place and get the same quality for much cheaper. Husbands martini was spilled on the table by a waitress, who then said to not mention anything to the waiter and she’ll sneak us another one which took another half hour to come. Mistakes happen, but no one should feel afraid to have their manager know. Anyways, bill comes and we realized the drinks were regular prices. We brought it to our waiters attention(Hispanic looking, we didn’t get the name) who then decides to tell us that happy hour is only at the bar. thanks. We went onto Unilocal to read other reviews I can’t tell you how much we can relate and how accurate the not so good reviews are. It’s all in the service to be honest. No one should be in a restaurant over 2 hours. We spent more time waiting for either the bill, a drink, and the food as we did eating. Sell, advertise your food! We remove our email from the mailing list. If the service was wonderful I don’t care about the quality of food but all together its not worth it at all.

Why is this place still open? My friend has gotten food poisoning here and has warned me and others never to go. Open and shut three times, bad service. Read all the bad reviews as they are the only ones with merit here. If you want a really good Italian restaurant in this area go to Larchmont. Angie’s will reopen soon by the famous larchmont tavern. Augies is fantastic, from the food to the service I can’t wait for the reopen! Larchmont tavern has amazing wings but doesn’t beat Sherwoods which is around the corner in larchmont. Pretty much every place in larchmont destroys this shit shack restaurant! I’d eat at the Mobil gas station before coming here! I hope you fools close! Zero stars and two thumbs down while sticking my tongue out!

I went to a Christening catered by Mamma Francesca and the food was great! The sauce on the pasta actually tasted as if someone’s Italian grandma had made it. The Chicken Marsala was cooked just right. It tasted good and didn’t get rubbery in the steam tray. The salad was made from healthy greens that stayed crisp. I was impressed. When I told the hostess about the good food, she informed me that she had a lovely experience working with the people at the restaurant. They were helpful, and nice. Way to go Mamma Francesca!

THEFOODANDSERVICEWASEXCELLENT! I had a Groupon that was about to expire that I purchased prior to reading the mixed reviews., But, I thought, WHYNOT! I too might jump on the the Negative Bandwagon, which I loathe to do, and excoriate the restaurant. I was very surprised to enter a clean modernistic space. I was greeted and chose the dining area overlooking New Rochelle Harbor. The specials were announced and the beverage order taken by a friendly wait staff. The warm bread presented(excellent quality and flavor) and butter were quickly delivered with the Chianti. We started with the Calamari Fritti which was as good as it gets. There was absolutely no indication or taste of any oil. It was crisp and the accompanying sweet sauce was light and delicious. We ordered the Atlantic Salmon Isolano and the Misto Frutti di Mare. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted like Mana from Heaven. Cooking seafood is tricky, especially when you have clams, shrimp, mussels and calamari in the same dish. Each element was cooked to perfection as though they were prepared individually and placed on the linguine. The salmon was tender, moist, and the tomato based sauce was extremely flavorful, but not overpowering. The nuance of the flavors, of all the dishes we had, were certainly memorable, even down to the cappuccino that was perfect. The restaurant was certainly worth the visit. If you had an issue, as previously noted, in the past, you might want to have a conversation with the manager, as, based on my experience, he CERTAINLY read the feedback and addressed the issues. I eat out 3 nights a week and use all the restaurant discount opportunities to experience new venues, and this restaurant is a top pick.

By far, the WORSTDININGEXPERIENCE to date! Where to start? Oh i know, I’ll start with the dishonest, horrible waiter(his name is Max). If you are unlucky enough to have him, immediately go to the bar or change tables! We were a party of 12(4 kids). We requested 2 orders of calamari and he immediately told us they were such small portions and suggested doubling the order. That would have been appreciated had he been telling the truth. The portions turned out to be enormous and this allowed him to add $ 24 more to our bill(I’ve typically found servers to be very honest if they feel the food would be too little, too much or just enough). After we ordered, he tells us 30 minutes later that they don’t have one of the dishes available. OK, that’s understandable, BUT then he charged us. When I requested to have him take it off, he make a big stink about it! Since when are restaurants allowed to charge you when they don’t provide you the meal you order? Lastly for Max, we had requested that our bill be separated between the 3 families and he outright refused and told us to figure it out… SERIOUSLY? Following that interaction with Max, we requested the manager. It’s obvious that the manager«trained» Max because he was just as unintelligent and unreceptive. ITISEVIDENT why this restaurant has changed names 3 times, FAILING each time. THEYDONOTDORIGHTBYTHEIRCUSTOMERS and this is why we were 1 of 2 tables there on a Saturday night. DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEANDMONEY. Also, the food was sub-par at best.

Didn’t even know what three dishes were being offered. Another time waited at least 20 mins for just drinks. No apologies offered. Wait fir dinner even worse. Food was not worth wait. Not going back. I came here for lunch on a weekday. They served us bread before our order, it was good. We were looking for a small quick lunch so the two of us just ordered two appetizers to split. We had Calamari and the crab meat stuffed avocado. I loved the avocado, it was delicious. So flavorful. The calamari were some of the best I’ve had in a long time, cooked and seasoned wonderfully. The check was only $ 20 and we were full. So happy we stopped here.

We were here celebrating with family and they picked the restaurant. I wasn’t impressed at all. We ordered the fresh mozzarella and tomato appetizer and for about $ 9 we got 3 slices of fresh mozzarella and about 5 slices of tomato, I know fresh mozzarella is expensive but really?! As a dinner I ordered the gnocchi and it was a big lump of gnocchi stuck together with melted cheese, my husband got the chicken parm which didn’t have much flavor. I don’t know what I’m missing but if they can’t get these dishes right then it’s not worth a second try.

I use to come to this restaurant prior to the shut down, the reopening as a Mexican restaurant, and then reopening as Mamma Francesca again. The food was always well prepared, tasty, and the portions were outrageous. I have to say that I am disappointed. I was at the restaurant with a large party and the first thing I noticed was that no two plates(of the same dish) looked similar. The presentation and the portions were totally different. I ordered the Chicken Scarpariello and it was not at all like the dish I would get prior to the shut down. The sauce was lemony and not at all that delightful vinegary, garlicky pepper sauce that I remembered. My brother-in-law had a pork loin that was overlooked and lacked real flavor. The wife’s chicken parmigiana was thin and mushy. I really miss whoever it was the was the chef in the original Mamma Francesca’s.

This place was really nice! Based on the neighboring establishments, one may not imagine Mamma Francesca to be very nice, but it is the diamond in the rough. The exterior is lovely and when my boyfriend and I walked in, I think we were both shocked. We didn’t know what to expect but we certainly didn’t expect to see such a nice lounge atmosphere. From reading other reviews just now, I see they had remodeled. They did a great job! We went on a Friday night and it wasn’t too busy, but it was a little later in the evening. We were sat at a table for 2 in the back room overlooking the water, which was really nice. It’s always relaxing to be looking at docked boats in the water and it was a pleasure. The bread and oil were delicious to start. There was a bottle of wine on the table… I get what you are trying to do. :) We didn’t succumb to the wine, but cocktails/beer instead. I didn’t like the watermelon mojito too much because lots of little watermelon pieces kept coming up through the straw but I think it may be a popular drink. I’m just picky. My boyfriend ordered a Caesar salad after I had ordered my meal and I decided I wanted one too. Our server was really kind and suggested we split one because it is large enough for two. We obliged, and it came out on 2 separate plates as if we had ordered our own. They were the perfect size as well. I thought that was really nice of the server to inform us of that and to split it for us so we weren’t unnecessarily paying for 2. If we had had our own, there would have been no room for dinner! The penne alla vodka was delicious as was the pasta special(pesto bowtie with sundried tomatoes and scallops). I look forward to finishing up my leftovers for dinner this evening! The bar/lounge of the restaurant is really nice and I was sad to see not many people utilizing it. It is certainly worth a check-out because any renovations were really well-done and it’s a very nice place! We would certainly return and it’s also a place I would take my family when they come to visit. Also, they will sing you happy birthday if you were wondering. :)

First time coming to this place since the restaurant changed its name back to Mamma Francesca. Thought it would be nice to have a Sunday evening dinner here. Ordered the calamari and vongole al forno(baked clams) for an appetizer and both were delicious. I had the seafood risotto, which I also thought was cooked right(some other places I have gone to have undercooked it to the point that it tastes crunchy). The kids liked the spaghetti and cheese ravioli. It was the linguini with white clam sauce dish that brings the rating down since the clams weren’t rinsed out to the point that we were eating sand. The 2nd thing was that there was these extremely loud folks three tables down that really killed the ambiance to the point that I asked for our check early. To the manager’s credit, he did take the linguini off the bill and comped me a wine. I would really go more 2.5 stars based on the experience. While my wife won’t go back, I did go back a week later to have a drink. I will try to go back for dinner again and hope to revise my review.
