When I didn’t get a confirmation call, I called uhaul. I gave my confirmation number, and was told that my reservation(which I had made an hour prior) had been cancelled.(how? by whom???) I made another b/c I was told that there was only one trailer, and it would probably be rented out if I didn’t. When I got there(late — my fault) to pick it up, there were at least 5 other trailers there. Since I was late, I called the store to let them know I was still coming. The phones rolled over to a customer service line which could not connect me to the store directly. I called again and got the same issue. Finally, the customer service lady, who was awesome, said she’d send a message to the store. She told them I was coming, and would get there in 10 minutes. The person on the store sent her a message back, stating, «We’re closing in 12 minute, she won’t make it.» The CS lady asked him if they would please rent the trailer to me if I arrived before closing. She said they said yes, but that I wasn’t going to make it. I walked in the door t 6:56, and found two men packing up boxes. I told them I was there to rent a trailer. The younger of the two said, «We’re closed. It’s past closing time.» I said, «It’s 6:56,» and showed him the time on my phone. He asked for my name and address. I told him I have a reservation number b/c the trailer was already reserved. He said, «no it’s not.» He went on to rent me the trailer and hook it up, but he had a pretty crappy attitude. I understand he probably wanted to go home, but. stuff happens. I was polite and tried to make it less painful, but he wasn’t having it. At the end, I tipped him and thanked him multiple times for staying after 7:00(which is a given when the store closes at 7:00), and left. It wasn’t until after we’d left the store that I noticed one of the tail lights was out. I called the customer service number to complain. I told the agent that I’d been pulled over after leaving the store. I told her that I was told that it’s illegal to drive the trailer like that. She stated that it was probably a fuse in my truck that was out, and she was sure the light was working when we left. If they sent a repair person out, and it was a fuse in my car, I’d be charged for it. I stated that obviously the light wasn’t working when we left, and the associate let me leave that way because he probably wanted to go on home. Even if it was a fuse in my car, what are the chances that it happened 15 minutes after I left the store, and not when everything was first connected at the store? I’m not trying to drop $ 150 for someone to tell me that a fuse(which doesn’t affect my car-only this trailer) is blown in my car. So now I’m stuck with a trailer– which I don’t know how to disconnect attached to my car, that I can’t legally drive. U-haul will not send someone to collect it. Not happy.

I have had problems with U-Haul in the past however today’s experience was much better then normal. I rented a Pickup truck and had no issues in getting it. The only issue I had was that when I came back, I waited around 10 minutes before anyone came out to check me in. As other reviewer stated, if you need it, they are there however they are not efficient. Also, be cautious with the gas, if you return it with the amount not agreed upon in the contract, they will hit you with a $ 30 refill charge on top of the gas at $ 5 a gallon! Would have given more stars if the check was more effective.

This place is terrible but what can you do when you have to move; just gotta deal with it considering it’s the only readily available place to rent moving trucks cheap. Trucks they provide are in the typical u-haul shape(beat up). They take up some moving space in truck by placing a stinking bulky bag with items they want you to use but will charge extra if you open it. Bag takes up a lot of space too. The best thing about this place are the vans which are usually in excellent shape. Also gas needles almost never work on trucks so prepare to have your wallet murdered when you fill the gas up hoping the needle is in the same position you rented it at. I had filled up my most recent truck way beyond the needle position because I didn’t know the needle was actually broken.
