Today I had the most tasty falafel I had by far in NYC. It reminded me of the falafel I use to have in Yaffa. The owner was very nice he even let me try other items to taste and I loved the baba ghanoush it tasted fresh and its vegan according to owner. I will be definatly coming back to. have more falafel and maybe next time I will try the chicken shawarma!

I should have known after walking in that I should not have ordered anything, but I didn’t think fast enough. Just a strange and not clean feeling atmosphere. I’ve been to very inexpensive places around the city before that don’t have the sketchy feeling this place does. I got the Falafel salad and other than the falafel which was OK the salad was basically nonexistent, a couple of sad, tired strands of lettuce and carrot shreds. Would not recommend anyone eat from here. Ended up throwing away most of what I got and eating somewhere else.

They wouldn’t honor their Groupon and told me to get a refund. They said its not valid during lunchtime 11 – 3 although their Groupon does not say that anywhere. I did try their cheap lunch special once, but the food was just okay. I won’t be coming back. I’ll go to Hummus & Pita around the corner on Chambers St.

Baba Ghanouge is a mid easter food. Its halal and organic. All the foods are so good. Personally i only eat chicken so the chicken swarma platter is THEBOMB! The food are cooked fresh after you order. Dont forget its babaganoush too! Nyummmmm!!!

The best chicken & lamb kabob sandwiches in town! Utilizing authentic lebanese flat pita bread,(unlike the silky, carb heavy pita pockets used by other locales), everything here is so underpriced & superbly generous in terms of portions. The meat is seasoned to perfection — & i am yet to see another middle eastern venue in manhattan serve garlic sauce, pickled turnips, arabic pickles, & whole black Palestinian olives as filler options on their sandwiches. Whenever Im in fidi or tribeca, i crave babbaghannoush – & am dying for one to open in Brooklyn!!! Minfudlik!!!

I was a customer of the Baba Ghanouge that was on fulton st near Nassau. I loved that place and was so disappointed when they closed. I heard about this location and decided to try it. The first time I went they convinced me to get a platter instead of the Chicken Shawarma. Major disappointment!!! Food was not as tasty as other location. And I had this platter that didn’t satisfy my craving for a Chicken Shawarma. Which is 1 of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tasted. But I blamed myself for allowing myself to be talked out of what I really wanted. So today I decide I’ll give it another chance. Disappointed again!!! Though the Shawarma is huge and a great buy, it’s just not as good as the 1 at the old location. Not saying I’ll never go back. It’s just not as good. I’ll ask around and see if I can find another place that makes a delicious Shawarma.

Enormous rip off. Got a hummus bowl with baba ghanoush, tabbouli, and feta. Tiny tiny sprinkles of the feta. Ice cold bowl. Thank god the tahini and pita was free. Feel like I just gave up my first born. I would be satisfied but the presentation and size is lacking for a $ 12.95 lunch. Nish Nush sucks too though, so what can you do?

I went there with a friend. We both had chicken over rice. A warning about their food. They don’t ask you before they pile on the sauces. So for example if you don’t want hot sauce you better tell them or you will get it. My friend didn’t get a chance to tell them no hot sauce and got it against his wishes. I stopped them in time since I noticed them putting it on his. The chicken over rice didn’t taste like chicken over rice you get at a Halal Cart. It had a different flavor. First of all, I had to add salt. The sauces were interesting. The sauces over the dish included Tahini. The tomatoes on the plate were a little mushy and seemed old. It was filling. But I can’t say I enjoyed it as much as I enjoy street food chicken and rice. The seating was limited. And the table was dirty when we arrived and I had to clean it myself. The staff seemed kind of quiet and stand-offish. They didn’t seem like the friendliest bunch. Honestly I wouldn’t return unless I had no place else in the neighborhood to go eat.

I won’t be going back. The short line at lunchtime should have signaled that this place was to be avoided. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita with hot sauce. Besides the tastelessness it was covered in grease somehow, some way. I’m not sure what’s healthy about that.

It took almost two hours and had to contact them twice! I don’t suggest this place for delivery at all.

I read the bad reviews. I went here, had chicken shawarma sandwich and it was awesomesauce :-) I love the garlic spread. The place looks SKETCHY, but they had a good grade from the department of health. This is a spot you need to visit and LEAVE. It is a hole in the wall, so don’t go there thinking there is a great atmosphere.

Food-wise, it is nothing mind blowing or out of the ordinary, but it is quick and quality schwarma at a reasonable price($ 7.50 for a schwarma wrap and a coke). The seating is incredibly limited, but it is apparent this is supposed to be largely a take out place for the surrounding offices. My only compliant is that the door, Unilocal, and every review I come across online says they accept credit cards, yet when I go in there to use a credit card, I get hassled by the guy behind the counter. I don’t know if they’re trying to avoid paying taxes with cash transactions or are just too cheap to accept the fact credit cards exist in the modern world, but don’t advertise you take credit cards if you’re going to through a fit when someone produces one. It’s childish. I would give this place four stars if they accepted credit cards without hassle.

It’s a good lunch spot and the price is great. Friendly service and limited seating. For this area it’s a good option but since I live in Queens I know there are better places out there. However, I would still come here if I was in the area, especially since my company’s HQ are nearby.

Dear Reader, I wanted to write to you and describe one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life. Truly, the meal I just ate has revolutionized the very way I understand food and its intrinsic link to the enjoyment of life. For so long I believed food only to have transient properties on the soul, often leaving a bloated residual coupled with a nagging and guilty wish to have eaten something healthier. But not at Baba Ghanouge! Of course the food was Middle Eastern; by now you’ve already guessed that. But the spin the chefs put on the food showed me a new facet I’ve never known. To apply common English adjectives to the food that filled my body and soul would be in vain. Could Moses describe the face of God after coming down Mount Sinai? The price was right, the service: positively un-New York, and the environment resembled parched desert wanderers discovering the clear and cool waters of a shady oasis! I would like to formally ask for your presence at your earliest convenience to make the pilgrimage to this new and holy and good Mecca of Middle Eastern cuisine.

Very mediocre. I got the rice bowl with chicken shawarma. Everything blends together and tastes the same – and not in the delicious, complementary way of great Tex-Mex, Indian, Thai, or even Chipotle. The flavors are bland and indistinct. To make matters worse, they won’t give you a cup of water, even with cups and a sink right there. The cashier said it’s his boss’s policy. I think it’s COMPLETELY f****d up, a big f*** you to their customers who just spent their money at this POS place, shows a complete disrespect for the customer. Never returning. Have fun nickel and diming your ever diminishing customer base!

The food is pretty good(I usually get the super falafel pita). Lines are usually pretty long, and the place is tiny, so I have tried to order online a few times in to pick up, hoping to cut my time in the place. Last time, it was pretty slow… today, it took OVER30 minutes, once I arrived to the location. He hadn’t even started my order when I arrived, and continued to take care of people who came in after me — before even starting my order. I thought the benefit of ordering online was to avoid the waiting for your food once you arrived to the restaurant… not the case here. It ended up adding a lot more time. Womp womp. Also, didn’t help that it was 90 degrees out, and inside the restaurant is hotter than out because there is no air conditioning. That being said — make sure you have time to take a somewhat extended lunch break before coming here.

Looks yummy but didn’t get to try. Guy grabs bloody piece of raw lamb kebab to grill, wipes his gloved hands on his apron a couple times, then uses those same hands to grab lettuce to make a salad for me. When I point out to him that maybe there should be slightly more of a separation between raw and cooked foods,(hello, tongs?) guy looks bewildered like I told him the earth is flat. Good for you, if you don’t mind a little food borne illness here and there. But I think I’ll pass.

I stumbled upon Baba Ghanouge on my trek home and in my hungry state, ordered the first thing I laid my eyes on(Chicken Schwarma Pita). I actually found it to be pretty tasty and it was inexpensive. They had me in and out of the door within 5 minutes. This establishment does not have a lot of seating available and cleanliness might even be a smidgeon questionable, but they’re friendly, efficient and well-priced. I wouldn’t ever recommend having a date or party here, but it isn’t a bad choice for a very casual outing or quick bite. All in all, a solid 3.5.
